Remember John Doe

The CSI team have been hard at work and they think they know what John Doe looked like when he was alive.  No name at the moment just a face.

If you know who he is please leave a comment.

Tried to make the scull on this tag look as if it is an x ray image, extremely pleased with how it turned out.

He definitely looks not of this world … very ethereal looking but not in a fairytale way.

Delving into My Dark Side

It’s official no more Christmas cards being made until next year – now for something not a bit Christmassy.

I have been wanting to get my mitts on this stamp for ages and finally bought it last month when I went to the Dublin craft fair at the RDS.

I love anything to do with CSI on telly plus sitting down with a psychological thriller book sees me in 7th heaven.

FSC Wants To See Your Backgrounds

The new challenge at FSC this month is to ‘Make Your Own Background’.  We have the lovely Avril to thank for the new theme so please check out those amazing backgrounds that all the design team have made for your inspiration.

Below is the canvas I made whilst Skyping with Dot the other week and oh my what fun we had.

We decided to enter both canvases as our DT makes for FSC.  Click to see all the details of the first post.

As you can see I did all the spraying of the flowers off page (just didn’t want my little mits to get all messy) then arranged when I had completed the canvas.

Isn’t that stamped face so beautiful, it’s from the Donna Downey Studios called ‘She Is’.  Only used her twice, the other time on a journaling page here.

Found the bangle covering her eye in a flea market about four years ago and I just knew I would find a use for it someday.

The tissue paper was also out in force as well as the corrugated cardboard, molding paste and torn out pages from a book … all the usual!!!

Thanks Dot for a truly unforgettable morning – can’t wait for more!!!

I would love it if you hopped on over to see all the DT’s work as they are simply stunning.  Also don’t forget that the winner of this challenge has $20 to choose anything they like from Flonz’s store.

Winter Trees

Vintage Stamping Challenges is starting their last challenge of 2015 and the lovely Claire chose the theme of ‘Winter Trees’.

I have to say that I really struggled with this one as I didn’t want to make another Christmas card.  I was telling Irene and she said “You know you don’t have to make a Christmas card”.  As simple as that and the problem was solved.

Finally went for an ordinary card with snowcapped trees in the background.  Used a beautiful owl stamp which you can find here or he is also in this set of birds here. The adorable tree is an Art Impressions stamp which I think may be discontinued (bought it in 2007)!!!

I really hope that you can join us for this month’s challenge.  To enter just click Mr Linky at the bottom of the VSC web page and maybe it could be you who wins the $20 from Flonz’s store.

Please visit the DT’s blogs for more inspiration and also it would be nice to leave them some love.

Awesome Morning With Dot

Two posts in one day……

Very unusual for me to have a Saturday morning off (because that’s when I hold my craft classes) but last Saturday was an exception and I got to spend the morning Skyping and crafting with my buddy and FSC teamie Dot.

Normally our Skyping time is during the week plus we only have time for chatting because of the time difference and also Dot works every day.  Me having last week off meant we had time for a crafting session Skype time, like Irene and I do.

Dot was lucky enough to attend one of Finnbair’s classes recently and has made some awesome things, you can see one of them here.

Well what better way to craft than getting the canvases out.  Played all messy and inky.  Ehhhh Dot did, meeee’s a bit more reticent with them there inks.

Our canvases turned out awesome (well we think so) but oh so differently that we have decided to show them as our next FSC design team makes with the next challenge.  Ahhh wonder what it could be … pop back here or to Dot’s blog on 13th December and you will find out!!!!

After we said our goodbyes and Dot went to bed (time differences) I was still on a high so decided to get out an old canvas that I started when I had my time away with crafty friend in her mobile home roughly two and a half years ago.  Didn’t like what I had started so it has been gathering dust ever since.

This was the perfect time to start my foray into spraying everything in sight (not literally – only the canvas!!!)

What do you think???

I went a bit mad with the tearing of her but I liked the result.

The good news is that Dot goes into her summer months and has time away from her job so we have decided to have more of these Skyping sessions.

Don’t forget that next Sunday you can see both canvases from Dot and myself on the FSC Challenge Blog.

That Time Of Year Again

Don’t you just love having birthdays?  Doesn’t matter how old you are the excitement never goes away (well not for me anyways).

Not going to say how old I am today but not quite at the three score years and ten yet!!!

Sharing with you the class cards which we made yesterday.

Made our own backgrounds on the A4 cardstock by brayering and using three different coloured inks.

My fave card from this selection is the “Cheerio Chaps” but the Dina Wakley Scribbly Birds is a close second.

More photos but this time I am showing a beautiful make that I received from Irene and as you can see a few crafting goodies were also included in the parcel.

A huge thanks “I”.

I had a really fabulous pressie from Crafty Friend (crafting of course) and Andrew bought me a light box which I have been after for ages.

Here’s a picture of what I bought for myself … as you do!!!!

Below is a pic of New Phil’s card from the  class yesterday (we call her that because there are two Phil’s)

Just had to take a photo because I loved the way her brayering on the card turned out.  The bottom piece looks just like a grassy meadow scene.
