Let’s Celebrate At FSC

Thanks to my lovely DT teamie Avril for picking the fabulous theme this month at FSC she chose ‘Celebrate’.

This actually gave me the chance to get ahead of the game and make Alex’s birthday card early.

Can you believe that my favourite grandson is going to be 18 in January????

LOL … I can say my favourite because I only have one grandson

Would really love it if you hopped on over to see all the DT’s work as they are simply stunning.

Nature Theme At FSC

For this month’s challenge FSC is going with the theme of ‘NATURE’ which has been picked by my lovely DT teamie Carola.

Made another art journal page for my FSC piece with trailing autumn coloured ivy leaves but check out those legs – how cool do they look?

I have been wanting some Viva Las Vegas Stamps for a while and Dot has now got some in her shop Ink Art Designs.

We still Skype each other two, maybe three times a week and I was soooo excited when she said she was getting these stamps in.

There are many different makes of stamps for you to buy from her shop but I bought most of the Viva Las Vegas ones.

Guess what stamped images you will be seeing in the coming months???

Ivy Wall from Inkylicious was stamped with a Big and Juicy ink pad called Spice, then ever so lightly spritzed with water.  It was really a very fine mist because I didn’t want to lose the detail of the image.  The ink pad is dye based and works just like DI’s but it has five tonal colours in one, the pad works extremely well with a brayer.  Both the Inkylicious stamp and ink pad have been in my stash for years so it’s about time they started to see the light of day again.

Used the bird and leafy branch from a Stampin Up collection called Papaya Collage which is retired now.

Would really love it if you hopped on over to see all the DT’s work as they are simply stunning.

FSC Inspirational Piece

For the October challenge at FSC my DT piece was a journal page.

Today my FSC inspirational make for the Time Waits For No Man Challenge is another journal page.

Because the two pages were side by side I soon realised that they were not gelling together.  The monkey side was far to bright and colourful.

No choice for it but to tone the monkey side down a notch or two, good ole white gesso to the rescue.

Scroll to the next post and you’ll see how he looked originally.

Totally happy with the overall toning down, they sit side by side perfectly now.

Used two stamps from the Vintage Time set by Ali Reeve and the Gentleman stamp is from Flonz Crafts.

I never throw anything away that has stamping on it.  Found a teensy bit of ripped tissue paper which had some clock numbers on it, placed this in the middle of the clock for a bit of added interest.

Also amongst my stamped tissue paper castoffs was a top hat which was put onto the ring of the pocket watch and the number 31 around the edge.

You still have until midnight on Saturday, 9th November to enter the FSC challenge so please hop on over as we would love to see what you make.

Time Waits For No Man

For this month’s challenge FSC is going with the theme of ‘Time Waits For No Man’ which has been picked by Moi.

Rather than making a card I decided to play around in my art journal using my DO’s – wild honey, peacock feathers and twisted citron.

Stamp used is from Katzelkraft but there is another side to this page with more stamping which will be shown later as an inspirational piece for FSC.

Would really love it if you hopped on over to see all the DT’s work as they are simply stunning.

New Distress Oxides In Play

For this month’s challenge FSC is going with the theme of ‘Use Your Inks Anyway You Like’ which the lovely Dot picked.

My card below uses inks from the 1st set of Distress Oxides – vintage photo, iced spruce and fossilized amber.

Also rearing their heads are inks from the new 2nd set – frayed burlap and antique linen.

My preferred choice of card, for inks, is watercolour cardstock which I use a lot more of since the stamp positioners came into play.

Ring stamp is from Stampers Anonymous and I did the Iron Off Embossing Technique so that everything lays flat on the card with no shiny bits.

The other stamp is from Dina Wakley.

Would really love it if you hopped on over to see all the DT’s work as they are simply stunning.

FSC Has Gone Fishing

For this month’s challenge FSC has “Gone Fishing” which the lovely Yvonne picked as her theme.

It’s a long time since I have just sat down and coloured in with my Tombow and Marvy Le Plume Markers but that’s exactly what I did with this card.

Can you believe that in all my collection of stamps the only two fishing themed ones that I have are the same as my teamie mate Dot.

She put her card into the FSC gallery before moi so I decided to totally change direction with my piece.

The ole grey cells really had a work out with this theme … (wish the body could say the same).

Totally pleased with the outcome plus sooo relaxed and chilled after the colouring session, even Andrew liked this one.

Phil who comes to my crafting classes lent me the ‘Gone Fishing’ stamp … thanks Phil.

The rocking chair is from Art Impressions as are the grasses and little flowers.

Mr Bird is from Hobby Art but the hat and boots is an Impression Obsession stamp.

Would really love it if you hopped on over to see all the DT’s work as they are simply stunning.

FSC Just Loves To Be Feminine

For this month’s challenge  FSC says “Make It Feminine” which the lovely Avril picked as her theme.

This adorable little girl is just about my favourite stamp of all time.  She must be the most well used in my collection.

A very simple card from me today … oops I was just about to say … no mixed media in sight … which would be silly right because as we all know mixed media is a broad definition that covers many arts and crafts.

Started by making a frame with a Spellbinders die then embossed with a folder.

Stamped the I Love Paris onto some coloured cardstock and placed behind the frame.  To finish I layered the other stamps over the top.

Would really love it if you hopped on over to see all the DT’s work as they are simply stunning.

Go Wild At FSC

Today is a very emotional time for Andrew and myself as we are saying farewell to Dot.  She will be leaving us in Melbourne and heading off to her home town in Portland.

Tomorrow sees us flying off to Singapore for 4 days on the last leg of our month long holiday.

Words cannot describe the incredible time we have had but over the coming months I will be blogging photos and hopefully albums/scrapbook pages of our amazing time with Dot and Australia.

Thank you is not enough Dot but I am saying it anyway.  See you on our next skypeing session where we can really start reminiscing about our fabulous time together.

You are one very special lady.

Hopefully the next time we see each other will be in the UK!!!!

We are Going Wild for this month’s challenge at FSC,

Sandra picked the theme of Let’s Go Wild and wild is where I went.

These two remind me of some of the wild party scenes that I went to in my youth.

FSC has a new sponsor … yay our very own Dot … how amazing is that?  She will be offering a different stamp for the winner of each new challenge.

Ink Art Designs Etsy Shop

Ink Art Designs is an Australian based Etsy shop owned and run by Dot Leathbridge.

A wide range of stamps are available which include a mixture of clear polymer and rubber.

The Etsy shop was originally started in order to offer a wider range of stamps to Australians.  It has since grown to include a world-wide audience.

FSC is also welcoming a fabulous Guest Designer who is showcasing an amazing tag for this month’s theme, her name is Elisa from 2crazycrafters.

I would really love it if you hopped on over to see all the DT’s work as they are simply stunning.

FSC Time And Favourite Things

For this month’s challenge FSC wants to see Sound Of Music – My Favourite Things or Use Your Favourite Stamp which Leanne picked as her theme.

Raindrops on roses
And whiskers on kittens
Bright copper kettles and warm woollen mittens
Brown paper packages tied up with strings
These are a few of my favourite things

You can either pick something from the verse above or use your favourite stamp, I chose Whiskers on Kittens.

Had so much fun colouring the kitten with water colour pencils plus the background has been created using the same colours.

Had to take care with the colouring plus how much water was added as I actually did everything on the card front itself.  This was an achievement as the card wasn’t water coloured stock plus there was a risk of pitting if I added too much.

Very unusual for me but I have only used two stamps on my card.   The kitten is a discontinued one called ‘Sitting Pretty’ and the quote comes from a Stampers Anonymous set … Urban Tapestry.

Would really love it if you hopped on over to see all the DT’s work as they are simply stunning.  Also don’t forget that the winner of this challenge has $20 to choose anything they like from Flonz’s store.

Modes Of Transport At FSC

Not much been going on in my ‘Crafty Cranny’ simply because I have been MIA again (another short break to the UK).

That’s the holidays over for the time being, next break is AUSTRALIA.

FSC wants to see ‘Modes Of Transport’ for this month’s challenge which the lovely Dani picked as her theme.

It’s all about my stamp journal again, love the neat, crisp, clean look of these pages.  Getting to use loads of my stamps which have been gathering dust for tooooo long.  Only inks and stamps are used in this book … see first pages here.

For these pages I did a “before and after” starting with the horse then moving onto a motor vehicle before finishing with a van.

By the way the motor vehicle and the van set were both virgin stamps.  It’s OK, both wrists have been slapped, especially as I have had the PaperArtsy set for about five years and the car for two.

Reverse masked the horses then dappled with coloured spots.

Can you believe that the last time I used these Visible Image stamps was in April 2015 here just after I had bought them at Ally Pally.

Masked off the ‘AFTER’ and also the van then stamped over with a crackle stamp.

All stamps used for the journal pages, inks are a mixture of  Versafine and Memento.

Would really love it if you hopped on over to see all the DT’s work as they are simply stunning.  Also don’t forget that the winner of this challenge has $20 to choose anything they like from Flonz’s store.
