Junk Journal Finished And For Sale

Love every journal I make and this is one is no exception but every time I make a journal I want to keep it.  So I have made the decision that it is time to start selling them starting with this gorgeous make.

There are three signatures in the journal with lots of lace added to the pages and images printed onto fabric.

Some hidden paperclip bookmarks have been added to a few of the pages.  Also in the journal is some stamping onto fabric and a few of the pages have stencilling on them.

If you would like to purchase this album please email: shirley@shirlsartwork.com

Yet Another Messy Journal Page With My Saturday Class

Another class showing from last Saturday, also did the punched edges again (with a different punch) on the journal sides.  It definitely gives the wow factor and loving how you can find pages easier.

Wahoo! – should have more time to visit all your lovely blogs from now on and a huge thanks to all who have still been leaving comments.

The reason that I have found all these items is because (think I said before in a previous post) I have moved craft rooms.

Andrew has my original one and I have taken over Alex’s bedroom.  Hence the lack of very many postings and visiting of blogs.  The room had to be re-painted and also the furniture.  Used lots of blue chalk paint plus will be showing pics of how the bedroom looks now.  Oops, should say craft room.

Not sure my class are very happy with messy/painty journal pages they just don’t seem to get the letting go bit of it!!!

Going to propose something different this week but if the girls don’t like my suggestions then sadly I think the classes will come to an end after all these years.  I will be very sad about this as they really have been coming every Saturday for years.  Will let you know what they decide.

Messy Journal Page With My Saturday Class

It’s ages since I have shown anything that I have been teaching my Saturday class so below is a double page that we did two weeks ago.

Really wanted these journal pages to look different from other pages in the book
so I jazzed up the sides with a Martha Stewart border punch.

Definitely going to do more like this as it made both pages look more interesting.

It also added the wow factor plus I have so many punches which need to see the light of day again.

Face Your Fears – I Dare You

We’ve put the clean and tidy journal away for the moment and created two pages in the mixed media one instead.

A very different journal indeed, all grungy and painty with loads of texture, this is definitely the touchy feely one of the two.

Not much colour used on these pages because the previous ones here were very vibrant and busy so a more subtle tone was called for.

Out came the Pebeo modeling paste plus some Tim Holtz tissue paper.  Chalk paints were used alongside some dry brushing with Gesso.

Selection of stamps, stencils and tissue paper used.

Easier Art Journaling

Dot and I both agree that we wished we had started our art journaling in a smaller book rather the the normal A4 size.

Feeling more comfortable with this A5 book because when starting something in the larger version my interest tends to wane before it is finished.  Where as with this one I can’t wait to finish.

Love the first page with all the sewing, stencilling and collaging but the second isn’t too shabby either … lol.

Used the same colours on the second page but whereas the first has collaged layers the second is one flat layer.  Both are a nice contrast to each other.

Finally bought one of those small date stamps because when looking back at the pages I like to know when it was started.

Close up pick of those collaged layers.

Already started the next pages!!!

First Post Of 2017 – Australia Here We Come

Happy New Year Everyone.

If I was going to do a bucket list one thing would definitely be on it – a trip down-under to visit my great friend and crafting buddy Dot from Ink Art Designs.

Not in my wildest dreams did I think that this would happen.

Well 2017 is certainly going to be an exciting year for Andrew and myself as our Christmas present to each other is a trip to … Australia!!

Because of the long haul flight we decided to break it up with a four day stay in Hong Kong before flying into Melbourne.  We will be staying with Dotty for nearly three weeks then the journey home will be broken again with a four day stay in Singapore.

Dot has already started planning all the exciting things that we are going to do but for me the highlight has to be the crafting retreat that she has booked us into at Cockatoo Downs Farm.  Even the name sounds magical.

Shock horror is Andrew coming crafting with us????  Shouldn’t think so, he has to take care of Dot’s dog but did I fail to mention that she lives next to a golf course!!!!

My first piece of the year started with this tag and my idea was for it to go onto the first page of my new A5 Journal Book.

As usual off I went on a tangent – have problems with reigning in my thoughts when crafting – by the time I had finished the tag it didn’t fit in with my journal page.

Will show the journal page another time in the meantime here is a close up of the tag.

Collaged Journal Page

My camera was still on the table from yesterday and as my journal book was close by I took some photos of a page which I made a few weeks ago.

Just jogging your memory a little … last December I made a tag about John Doe.

Below is the picture where John Doe’s head was punched out from and as you can see I had to replace with another.  Crafters never waste anything!!!

Hope everyone in the UK enjoys the rest of the Bank Holiday weekend and the weather behaves itself.

Blue Is Beautiful

Started this page a while back but because I caught Mr Nasty Cold have only just got around to finishing.

Have a few journalling books on the go, this one is the A4 size.

The photos below shows the first half of the two pages with a few added embellishments.

The second side I decided on no embellishments because I wanted to keep it uncluttered

Flicking And Dripping White Paint

Crafty friend came to stay last weekend where she joined in with my class.  As you can imagine it was chaos but very enjoyable and hugely funny.  It sure cheered me up I can tell you.

Whilst waiting for the class to start we had a play around in my craft room with some new PB stamps of mine.  We inked onto watercolour card before stamping the flowers.

Finally finished my piece by adding a Scribbly Bird stamp by Dina Wakley which I coloured with chalk inks and paint.  Dribbled white acrylic paint in the right hand corner before flicking with more paint.

I am sure Crafty friend hasn’t even looked at hers yet let alone finished it!!!

The close up shows the stencilled flowers and the modelling paste which I coloured over the top.

This is the journal page which the girls and crafty friend made in the class, very different from the above make.  Much more vibrant and very Autumnal looking.

How different each journal page looked from the next.  We used Gelatos for the background colours with loads of stamping and stencilling.

Well done girls by the time we had finished each page looked stunning.

Cards For Him And Her Plus A Journal Project

Another fabulous sunny day outside which put me in the mood to show last week’s class cards and also the project we will be making tomorrow.

I love to rip and tear and also love using different colours of ink when stamping so this technique was perfect.

Again I showed how you can make a very feminine card and also one for a man.

4

With this one we also used the triple embossing technique for the frame.

Ahead of myself here as below I am showing what the girls are creating tomorrow.

They have all bought journalling books and I know they are all going to have fun learning how to fill them with some amazing artwork.

Gesso, washi tape, stamps, masks and Gelatos are the main ingredients of the pages below.

I am sure everyone will be amazed with the magical way the gelatos blend superbly into the background when used with baby wipes.
