First Cavendish Lady

010177010176

What a week….yuk… don’t you just hate being sick. Still can’t get home to see my grandchildren until I have had my new meds….can’t have those until I get rid of this head cold…..

Must be improving though because I actually felt like making a card today….took all day…..but in the end this is what I came up with.

Bought some new Kanban stamps from QVC…The collection is called The Cavandish Ladies….six ladies in all and lots of sentiments. There are two sets…Day At The Races and Putting On The Ritz. This lovely lady is from the Day At The Races.

Made a tissue flower but this time I stamped and embossed onto the tissue with different sized flower stamps from Hero Arts. This made the flower quite sturdy looking and you wouldn’t realise it was tissue paper until you feel it. Papers from Pink Petticoat.

Getting used to my Pro Markers and enjoyed colouring her in.

Entering for these challenges…

Dreamy Wedding

Monday already can’t think where last week went. Make sure you check the Crafty Angels blog to see if you are one of our first top 3 winners for last week.

Onto another Crafty Angels challenge and it’s my turn to pick this week’s theme…I would just love to see your wedding creations be it card, LO or project….. whatever comes to mind when you think of weddings just do it.

The lovely Laura sent us some super goodies… one of which is the lace centre panel which I stitched onto the card with a leaf pattern…coloured the edges with a chalk ink pad and made another tissue flower…sooo into these at the moment.

Another into thing at the moment …. eyelet lace ….which I seem to be using a lot at the moment…threading lace or ribbon through makes it look sooo pretty. Stamped image is another fave….Penny Black – Wedding Gown…not sure about the sentiment because I have had both of these stamps for a long long time. It doesn’t show up very well on the picture but I have very lightly watercolured the wedding dress. Three dreamy flower pearls, lots of teensy flowers and liquid pearls finish it nicely.

SouthEast Crafters is on this weekend girls at the Maldron Hotel…I look forward to this monthly event because it’s my…. me time and it’s fun meeting up with all the girls. Laura… (takes an awful lot of ribbing from us) runs the class and her mum Marie…(patience of a saint) looks after the shop.

The only downside this month is that I should be in the UK with my granddaughter Lauren it’s her 7th Birthday….no travelling allowed until after my second lot of medication.

I am quite choked about this because I do like to be with all my grandchildren on their birthdays…. but never mind Lauren we will have an extra special time together at the beginning of May sweetheart.Shirl

My Sweet Rose

010170060015

What a journey I have been on with one of my fingers.

Had the joint removed on 8th September 2009….pins were inserted to fuse the bones together…only removed the pins two weeks ago….finally after seven months of awkwardness they took the stitches out yesterday (stitches weren’t in seven months LOL) and my finger has healed beautifully.

Another journey starts today, Andrew and I will be at Waterford hospital all day again will update later.

Roses are my favourite flower and my ultimate favourite is Blue Moon…such a fragrant smelling rose.

Made a box card that lays flat to go into the envelope (not sure what the proper name is) and used the Ethereal Forest Designs Rose for my centre piece…..coloured with Pro-Markers…..little confession time….wanted to use the same colours as the blue moon rose but picked up the wrong pro-marker oops-a-daisy….or in this case oops-a-rose.

Didn’t have much time to complete the project so I used the papers already on my desk from the easel card I made yesterday.

Onto the theme for this week…. Evonne has said she would like to see… My Favourite Things….anything you like…wherever it takes you… well bit of a problem here sweetie because I love it all.

Started with pastel colours…probably my favourite… then came stamping and embossing….next paper piecing it….punching… just went on and on.

Can’t wait to see what everyone else comes up with…thanks Evonne for such a lovely challenge.

Stamping, masking, embossing, inking and distressing onto a tag….back into my comfort zone.

I liked this image so much…so feminine… added a few more features….beads, flowers and a lot more embossing on the actual image itself also added a butterfly and stitched on some lace.

Coloured the dress with faded jeans ink and also marked certain areas with an embossing dual pen then added moon glow embossing powder blue gold…did the same with the butterfly double embossed with different coloured embossing powders…effect is really lovely and very shimmery wish you could see the real thing. Masked off the image to stamp the background detail. Other colours used are Victorian velvet and shabby shutters.

Two male cards together….. what am I on?

This is one of the eleven new Ethereal Forest Designs Store digi stamps and totally out of my comfort zone of what I usually like to colour.

Decided to use distressed inks because it was easier and totally surprised with the outcome…very pleased with it….

Hope you like the card as much as I enjoyed making it

One for Sam

Hope you’re all having a well earned break this

Easter Monday

Talking about Monday… we all know what that means to us crafters…. yay!!!

Crafty Angels challenge time. This week we have a sketch (provided by Sandie) for you to follow. As you probably know I am not keen on sketches….only because I can’t seem to stick to the game plan….always wanting to add extra or make changes….think I have done quite well with my nephew Sam’s card.

Used the greeting Farm image… Ian…bought from the Crafty Angels on line store….no colouring this time…. hand not up to it until the stitches come out (only one more week)…. and to make matters worse all my new pro-markers arrived Friday….as you can imagine chomping at the bit to use them.

Stamped onto a white nestie oval, then stamped again…but this time embossed the image onto a smaller orange nestie oval…married up the two images. Wanted some height for the ovals so used pinflair gel to glue together.

I made the letters at Laura’s crop last month…you will find more info here South East Crafters. If having loads of fun.. lots of laughs (especially when Breeda is there)…learning new techniques….then this is the place for you…I just love it and can’t wait for each month’s crop.

The theme last month was distressing…adore it. We used the Tim Holtz grunge board (as well as lots of other goodies)…coloured with paint daubers, sanded and then diamond glazed all over.

Used a blanket stitch for the papers, punched a heart (I’m sure Sam won’t mind this on his card) and the buttons are from my stash.

Entering for these challenges:
Anya Ink – Anything Goes
Paper Jewels – Sewing & Buttons
A Spoon Full of Sugar – One for the boys
Sweet Stampin Challenge – It’s a Man’s World
Anyone for Anya – Anything Goes
