New Header

At last phewwwww, been wanting to do this for ages … what I hear you say …
just knew you wouldn’t see it.
Roll those eyes upwards and have a mosey at my new blog header.
Took me most of the day Sunday, working in Gimp and learning how to use layers … really pleased with my very first attempt …
Andrew was also a little chuffed with what I achieved because he knows what a complete luddite I am when it comes to learning something new.

I know the buttons don’t match now so that is next on my to do list.
All the images used in the header are from either The Graphics Fairy or Magic Moonlight Free Images
Truth be known trolling through these blogs for images to use was just amazing, that probably took up the bulk of my time deciding which ones to use.

Gratitude/Thanks

Making Thank You cards are my fave and the challenge this week at Little Miss Muffet Challenges is Gratitude/Thanks … easy peasy.
This is the card I made and the gorgeous image is Peppermint as Red Riding Hood. I know she’s not red!!! 😛

Went for a soft pastel feel for her so I used a colouring medium that has not seen the light of day in years … Inscribe Soft Pastels.
Now everyone is raving on about the Pans Pastels but these little guys do the same job at a fraction of the price … also if you buy the Pans and can’t get on with them you have lost a lot of money … where as if you buy Inscribe they are a fraction of the price and do the exact same thing. I used the Cut-n- Dry Pen Nibs for the colouring.

The main mat is vellum which was layered onto a leaf mask, then I ran through the Big Shot to emboss, stamped the edges with one of those little tapestry thingies.

Little Miss Muffet has an adorable range of images and the design team have excelled themselves again with such inspiration for you to have a peek at.

Christmas At FSC

FSC has a gorgeous challenge theme this time round which is I’m Dreaming Of A White Christmas. This doesn’t necessarily mean an all white card you can actually make any Christmas card or project you want.

Marina at Cottage Crafts has an adorable stamp up for grabs to the winner of this challenge so hop on over and have a go.

We have a new DT member joining us with this challenge …
she is known to blog land already so why not go have a mooch and leave some love for Paula Ephemera’s Attic.

Made a larger card for the challenge and dusted off the sewing machine which I haven’t used for ages. The photo doesn’t show it off very well at all but the Father Christmas image in the middle was stamped onto plain beige material, padded at the back with wadding, then stitched all around the edges to give a beautiful raised effect. Used the Brilliance tri coloured ink pad called Tiramisu and the Papermania stamp which you can find here. Frayed the edges of the material and laid on a layer of gauze. The rest of the stamped images are from the Winter Post collection from SU, these I stamped onto the paper behind which is from the My Minds Eye Signature Christmas collection.

Found these lovely lace flowers and tiny tartan bows from my stash.

Nearly There

I love a bit of humour in my cards and the new image from Little Miss Muffet Stamps lends itself to that.
I chose to use Hope because I think all us girlies can relate to her. Check out those scales she’s standing on … wish that was my weight. 😀

Stamped and embossed both the dress and dress form onto matching paper – Stampendous Spring Fling and Girls Paperie by Margie Clear Stamps. Flower from this set also but stamped with TH Fired Brick as was the post card from SU, inked around edges with same. Don’t you just hate it when the light reflects off the embossing and makes it look sparkly – yuk.

Lots of new releases this week and the DT girlies have really made some gorgeous inspiration for you to look at here. Still time to enter the challenge for this fortnight which is Simplicity.

I never think to post these cards but will try to remember to do in future.

Summer Breeze

Find it very hard to do simple … have to sit on them there hands so they don’t keep adding things without me seeing.
That’s what the challenge is this fortnight at Little Miss Muffet
SIMPLICITY

Excited with this card because I got to try out my new
Tim Holtz Seasonal Winter Stamps
and wahoo while working on the card my
Seasonal Fall stamps arrived … how utterly cool is that 😎

Coloured Summer Breeze with the three Winter inks … ironic don’t you think … Winter – Summer? Stamped butterflies are from SU.

Short and sweet Andrew has kicked me off before I have finished because of problems with PC 😆

Times Gone By

Over at Fashionable Stamping Challenges this fortnight the theme is

Times Gone By

I am sure this is everyone’s fave theme for stamping as it allows you to make virtually anything you like. Dot has added lots of info for your inspiration which led me to put a little info of my own below.

I chose to show you the last two pages of an album I have made which shows two pics on tags … one of a much younger Andrew in fancy dress with his mates and one of Andrew’s Dad (Tom) sitting on the lap of his parents.

Also want to bore you with a little piece about Andrew’s Dad who sadly isn’t with us any more but can you believe the family only learnt this piece of info at his funeral.

Tom’s mum married a Canadian but he went back to Canada without her and she followed later.
She booked her passage to Canada to be with her husband but at the last minute she couldn’t go because she became ill so she cancelled and booked another passage for later.

Thank goodness she did her first voyage would have been on the …

TITANIC which sank on 15th April 1912 – can imagine what would have happened … no Tom … no Andrew.

Anyway she eventually made it to Canada and into the arms of her husband, as you can guess, Tom was born in 1913.
The First World War broke out and Tom’s dad had to go and do his bit, that left Tom’s mother all alone in Canada so she decided to book a passage home to England and take Tom with her.

Can you believe what happened she broke her arm so could not make the crossing so again she cancelled and made another booking for later.

Wait for it … can you guess what was the name of the ocean liner she cancelled to go home on …

LUCITANIA – which was torpedoed and sank on 7th May 1915 – again can you imagine … no Tom … no Andrew.
How amazing was that, Andrew’s grandmother was definitely meant to be on this earth and here is the pic of Tom with his parents … awww

Ann-Kristine Hatter

!! Hooray – it’s a SALE !!
Barbara is out of town for the rest of this week so orders will not be filled until Sunday evening.
Due to the long wait … now until Sunday evening (8:00 pm Central Time), anyone who places an order of $10.00 or more can pick out a FREE digi!!
Just include your choice in the comments section of the order and she will include it with the purchase! 😎

Little Miss Muffet Stamps have two more new releases for you today they are Anna-Kristine Hatter & Chloe.
For my Tear-Drop shaped card I chose Anna-Kristine Hattter because I love the Hatter Girls .

Coloured Anna-Kristina and the hats with TH distress inks, also did reverse masking on the images then stamped and embossed with various little stamps.
How tight am I, the whites of the flowers were made with the cheapest of cheap white copy paper.
White part of little flower was made with €2 shredding scissors and white part of the larger flower I made a scored pin-wheel then punched the edges with a MS punch.

New Baby In The Family

Me again just thought you would like a quick look at the new arrival to our family … his name is Byron and he is just the cutest little guy you have ever seen. Penny, at the moment is not amused … playing hard to get me thinks, but as long as Byron keeps looking at her with those adorable eyes he will win her heart.

I know naughty Shirley … Byron on the table … tut tut … trust me it is a one off but he looked so cute just had to take the pics.

Story Time

Little Miss Muffet New Release Time and SARAH is my chosen image … you know me though I have added two more images to the picture and they are SPARKS the Guinea Pig & Mouse. Sarah is reading a story to both but are they interested … not one teensy weensy little bit 😀

Coloured her with TH distress inks, also made the flower from a piece of paper which I covered with emulsion paint then added gauze whilst still wet, dried with a heat gun and then cut out with a TH die. Also added gauze to the brown tag and completed with a piece of ric rac.

Pop back tomorrow to see another new release from Little Miss Muffet and I hope you enjoy looking as much as I enjoyed making.
