Mixed Media Board Canvas

Looking forward to the class today as this will be the first time the girls will be using sprays and inks on a 7″ x 5″ Canvas Board.

Below is the wall hanging that they will be making with lots of yummy texture and man appeal.

Definitely going to have to get the gloves out for Theresa!!!

Scrap Watercolour Flowers

Over the years painting with so many different mediums plus using lots of different crafting tools has made my interest in crafting just grow and grow.

There is a down side though, because we absorb and learn so many different techniques over time when we move on to new things everything else tends to get stored at the back of our mind.  It’s only when we see something that we haven’t done for a while that we remember how much we really liked doing it.

Lauren loving the CAS look has revived my interest in watercolour paints again.  So much so that at the end of my class this week I gave everyone a piece of scrap watercolour card and we had a play around with watercolour paints.  (This was a first for them.)

When all was finished, tidied up and packed away I came across my play around piece of scrap card.  Hadn’t the heart to throw it away because it looked really pretty so decided to make something with it.  This is what I came up with – another CAS card.

Watercolour Flowers

Used the circle die from the Sizzix  Scribbles and Splats set.  Cut out three circles and glued them onto my scrap watercolour card then fussy cut around them.

Next with my black Versafine ink I stamped three stems onto fresh card stock before placing the scribbled circles on top.

Why Three Birthday Cards???

My youngest granddaughter Lauren starts a new journey on Friday as she becomes a teenager.

The biggest part of missing out on Lauren’s growing up is keeping abreast of how her personality has changed and how her creative style in life has done a complete turn around.

Whereas Claire, Amber and I love the messy, inky and busy side of crafting Lauren, to my complete surprise, has gone more like her Dad and loves the CAS look.

Lauren and a girlfriend of hers came to Ally Pally with us this year and they loved it.  Flitting about the huge hall like butterflies they were in their element.  Hardly saw them at all during the day.  We eventually stopped for lunch and they showed us what they had made at one of the make and takes.

On the Sunday after Ally Pally Lauren, friend and myself made an album.  Mine was pretty with lots of embellishments on it, her friend’s was like a pizza with everything added but Lauren’s was very stark and minimalistic.

This was when I realized that her developing creative style is so different to mine, Claire’s and Amber’s.

Way to go Lauren, be unique and make your own path sweetie.

Lauren’s birthday card was already made by the time I set sail for Ally Pally but on discovering how she likes CAS I had to make another.  Hope she likes it.

Used watercolour card and also watercolour paints to achieve the background effect plus the stamped sentiment (from Stampin Up) was done with black embossing powder.

Might as well show the two other cards which I created (not Lauren’s cup of tea methinks).

Did two because I wasn’t sure what colour she was into at the moment but it doesn’t really matter now as I won’t be sending either.  DI inks were used to create the background plus various stamps.

Used two new dies that have been added to my collection recently and the picture stamps are an old set from Crafty Individuals.

It’s been extremely hard for Andrew and myself as all through the grandchildren’s lives we have lived abroad.  Hence the reason for all the missing out on their growing up and the changing stages of their personalities.

Gelato’s And Dot

Another fun Skype with Dot yesterday (check her post)and this time it was the Gelato’s that got the full treatment from us both.  She is finally converted and loves them to bits.  I had a sneak peak of her next project with them and all I can say is you are all in for a treat, nuff said.

My first make is on glossy card and the vibrancy of the colours really popped off the page so toned it down by spraying over with Dylusions White Linen.  Used one of the new stamps that I bought whilst at Ally Pally called “Man And Bird” from artStamp.  Stamped with a brown ink pad.  Gorgeous eh, bought three other sets whilst there (loads of other goodies as well) which I am sure you will see soon.

The second make was on Sheena’s stamping card where I used the same stamps but this time inked in black.  Used the same Gelato colours but they turned out more muted.  Also added some molding paste through a stencil in the corners but it doesn’t show so well in the pics.

He really looks as if he might fall over with the weight of that bird on his shoulder!!!  (Or is it that I put him on the block wonky???)

Who Doesn’t Love Blue, Yellow And White

FSC this month is having a colour theme kind of moment and it was moi who chose this theme.

What is it you ask???? … Blue/Yellow and White are the colours which we are looking for.  I really hope you will join in with us.

Yikes I can hear you saying that’s nothing like the colour combinations that FSC want to see.  That’s because it’s a before and after that I am showing.

The first pic is how the wall hanger looked when I bought it in the sale at Cargo.  After a complete overhaul and workout the second pic shows how it looks now.

Just couldn’t wait to get my little mits on the Indigo Blu stamp which takes centre stage.  She looks so forlorn and melancholy who could resist her.

I bought a few of these end of line Christmas hangers so that I could use them in my class and the girls loved how they turned out.

I would love it if you hopped on over to see all the DT’s work as they are simply stunning.  Also don’t forget that the winner of this challenge has $20 to choose anything they like from Flonz’s store.

Time And What Matters

Andrew and I are like two ships that pass in the night at the moment.  As he is winging his way back from Tennessee in America, I will be winging my way to Ally Pally in the UK.  Guess we all know who has got the better deal!!!

Dot and I skyped again yesterday and we both concentrated on making backgrounds.  Both used Dylusions sprays (the one I used is called Vibrant Turquoise).  Dot made three backgrounds but miss neat freak here only managed to get one background finished.

Ahhhh but at least I added lots of stamped ephemera to my background, Dot put hers away ready to add embellishments at a later date.  I also had to wait for the crackle paste to dry!!!!

I love the stamped bulldog clip on this card it looks so real.  It comes as part of a stamping set from Anna Griffin and has loads of stationery paraphernalia on it.  The girl is a very old freebie stamp from The Craft Stamper magazine and the butterfly is also an old postcard stamp (think it’s Crafty Individuals!!!).

Coloured both with my Faber Castell pencils plus I slit around the wing of the butterfly to pop the note paper behind.  The note sheet comes from Stampers Anonymous called School Desk.

We had one more skyping session this morning and I will show you what I made later.

P.S.   My granddaughter Lauren Rose would love it if you checked out this video link and subscribed to it.

Skyped Dot today and we had another inky messy crafty session (Dot do luv them there inks) and below is what I made, a very sweet looking set of twins.

Mr Cool

Used a stamp from  Stampotique called Topher and Mr Super Cool has nothing on this pair.
