Starting A Journey With All My Stamps

Today is the start of another journal … but this one is going to be all about my Journey with stamps.

What prompted me to start another Journal … it’s because I’m addicted to buying beautiful rubber stamps but alas I don’t seem to use them as often as I should.  Going back to the UK this week and what’s at home waiting for me … yep you guessed more rubber stamps.

Below is a selection of gorgeous stamps which were part of my Christmas present and all are unused.  Not anymore!!!

No more will they lay gathering dust in my craft room, no more will they be un-inked for today sees the first two pages in my Stamp Journal.

There are just loads and loads of techniques that you can do with stamps so this journal will not include any paints, stencils, die cuts etc just inks, embossing powders and stamps.

Only two techniques were used on these pages, masking plus reverse masking.

With the Stampendous ‘Life Is Art Stamp’ I replaced the word paint with the word stamp.  Did a bit of reverse masking with the clock.

Making these two pages today gave me so much pleasure because I have at last, made a start, on those uninked stamps.

Showing the stamps used on the two pages.

Good Ole Bubble Wrap

Showing pages from the new A5 art journal which I had to buy on my last trip home.

Two on the go now but I just might take this one home with me when I next go and leave it there.  That way I will always have something to doodle in.

Used some of the new PaperArtsy stamps that I bought whilst at a class with Helen Chilton, Sandy had her shop there.

Extended the ends of the flower petals with some doodling flourishes and added numbers to the leaves.

These are the first two pages when the book is opened and as you can see I have used the SU Beautiful You stamps plus a variety of others.

Clare has very little crafting stuff which is good because it means I have to improvise and use things which I haven’t used in ages.

Bubble wrap is one of those great alternatives to stencils and it came in handy for these pages.  Painted gesso onto it which gave a fantastic resist on the page.

Beautiful You

It’s a long time since I have fallen in love with any Stampin Up stamps but the new set called Beautiful You are sooo pretty.

Whilst home Clare and I had a great time using them but left all the cards with her.

So today I made some more for myself.  Both cards have been framed with doodling and a splatter stamp.

Extended her dress a little with a black fine liner pen and also added stripes and polka dots to it.

This card uses a different technique than above because she was first stamped with bleach then dragged the stamp a little before taking off the card.

Left it to dry naturally before over stamping with black ink.  Added some polka dots to the umbrella.  Next came the splattering with bleach to imitate raindrops.

Bleach is such an effective medium to stamp with.

Both cards together.

Amber’s Unseen Canvas

Thoughts are looming in my mind about what direction my card is going to take for Amber’s 19th birthday.

Because of this I realised that no pics of the canvas I made for her 18th birthday last year were ever shown.  Sorry but for some reason I haven’t got a photo of the whole canvas only sections of it.

Not the best photos because whilst making her canvas I didn’t take any pics until she had seen it which left only my iPad to take them on the day.  It was an old iPad and didn’t take the best of pics but since then Andrew has bought me an iPad Air which takes far better photos.

Fell in love with the metal bird hanger but it was painted a boring white.  Amber would have hated it so alteration time with paints and stamps.

I did an image transfer with the above photo as I didn’t want it to be too stark looking.

By doing this technique it meant that the photo looked quite distressed and old.

Just A Number At FSC

FSC wants to see ‘It’s Just A Number’ for this months challenge which the lovely Brenda picked as her theme.

The smaller numbers on my card have been white embossed to make them stand out more on the painted and stencilled background.

Would really love it if you hopped on over to see all the DT’s work as they are simply stunning.  Also don’t forget that the winner of this challenge has $20 to choose anything they like from Flonz’s store.

Tag Time

Just back from the UK where we have been celebrating Alex’s birthday.  He has just turned 17, learning to drive and growing up way too fast.

Had lots of playtime whilst away and even managed to get to a class at the Craft Barn with Helen Chilton.  We made a Marquee Sign with lights but stupid here left it at Clare’s house.  You can see Helen’s make here but I used different stamps and colours on mine.

Also had time for some art journaling with Clare but had to buy a new A5 book because I left mine at home … now I have two on the go.  Note to myself when visiting Dot must remember to take it with me!!!!

It’s been so long since I have made a tag and today was just perfect to start one.  Beautiful sunny weather and lots of crafting time.

Bought stamps and paints at the workshop … Sandy had her shop there.  Below you can see I have used one of the new PaperArtsy stamps on my tag with some of the new paints.

The ‘Dream On’ sentiment came from the bottom of a stamp from Finnabair.

The eye stamp is so old that my poor little brain can’t remember where it came from.

Sorry for not visiting anyone whilst away but tomorrow is catch up time to see all that I have been missing.  See you soon.
