Water And Inks Doing All The Hard Work

It’s that time again to show the class project for last week which is all about watercolouring.

You can get some lovely textures ebbing and flowing within your card with such little effort, the water and inks do all the hard work for you.

For my background I wanted the card to be very tonal so only used three colours from the same family of brush markers.

I never refer to black or white when mentioning colours because this is a very grey area.

– black is the absence of colour and is therefore not a colour –

– white is the blending of all colours and is a colour … go figure.

The layering up embellishments are from corrugated card and some stamping.

More Gelli Plate

For last week’s class the girls all used their Gelli Plate for the first time with inks.  This week they worked with paints.

As you know, when teaching a class, I always start something to show them what to do but never finish it until after the class.

It was such a gorgeous afternoon that I didn’t get to finish it so worked on it this morning.

Added some Distress Oxides for extra colour and hi-lighted the edges with white chalk paint to give everything a rather shabby distressed look.

Below is one of the cards that the girls made on Saturday.

FSC Has Gone Fishing

For this month’s challenge FSC has “Gone Fishing” which the lovely Yvonne picked as her theme.

It’s a long time since I have just sat down and coloured in with my Tombow and Marvy Le Plume Markers but that’s exactly what I did with this card.

Can you believe that in all my collection of stamps the only two fishing themed ones that I have are the same as my teamie mate Dot.

She put her card into the FSC gallery before moi so I decided to totally change direction with my piece.

The ole grey cells really had a work out with this theme … (wish the body could say the same).

Totally pleased with the outcome plus sooo relaxed and chilled after the colouring session, even Andrew liked this one.

Phil who comes to my crafting classes lent me the ‘Gone Fishing’ stamp … thanks Phil.

The rocking chair is from Art Impressions as are the grasses and little flowers.

Mr Bird is from Hobby Art but the hat and boots is an Impression Obsession stamp.

Would really love it if you hopped on over to see all the DT’s work as they are simply stunning.

Ink Art Designs Etsy Shop is sponsoring FSC and they will be offering a stamp for the winner of each new challenge.

Gelli Plate

Last week’s class was all about how to use the Gelli Plate.

We made some lovely backgrounds which meant that the girls went home with three very different cards.

We have a gorgeous little art shop in town and Sara, the owner, ordered in enough Gelli plates for all the girls in my class.

Had my usual play around after the class and wahoo the Distress Oxides came out, can’t wait for my new set to arrive from Art From The Heart.

Worn lipstick and fossilized amber are the colours used for this card.

Distress Oxides work really well on the Gelli Plate, my only advice would be, just take your time and steady with the water.

Stamped the girl image with DO worn lipstick, she stamped really well.

Stamps are from from Stampers Anonymous and a Dylusions one, die is a Sizzix Thinlets set – Mixed Media #4.

Stencil is a Crafters Workshop called, Ravenscape … only used the bird part and did some doodling inside.
