Mixed Media Wall Plaque

This plaque started life as reject MDF off cuts given to me by Crafty Friend, she was given them and then shared with me.
Now that’s what I call a friend, what do you think?

There have been no Saturday classes over the summer but last week saw the start of them again.

Because of one thing and another Phil was the only person who could make it and she didn’t mind having a one to one, below is what we made.

Slow start to the class because we were nattering, consequently we didn’t get it completed.  Finally finished mine and well chuffed with how it turned out.

The Plaque is very dimensional and touchy feely, love it.

Used stamps from Inkylicious, Crafty Individuals, Stampin Up, PaperArtsy and a new one which I just bought by Seth Apter (that’s the frame in the middle).

Apart from the stamping I painted, stencilled, used paper napkins, builders mesh and gauze.

Also found some old twine which I plaited to make the hanger for the plaque.

I am entering this into the Craft Stamper Challenge which is Anything Goes.

Gelato’s And Dot

Another fun Skype with Dot yesterday (check her post)and this time it was the Gelato’s that got the full treatment from us both.  She is finally converted and loves them to bits.  I had a sneak peak of her next project with them and all I can say is you are all in for a treat, nuff said.

My first make is on glossy card and the vibrancy of the colours really popped off the page so toned it down by spraying over with Dylusions White Linen.  Used one of the new stamps that I bought whilst at Ally Pally called “Man And Bird” from artStamp.  Stamped with a brown ink pad.  Gorgeous eh, bought three other sets whilst there (loads of other goodies as well) which I am sure you will see soon.

The second make was on Sheena’s stamping card where I used the same stamps but this time inked in black.  Used the same Gelato colours but they turned out more muted.  Also added some molding paste through a stencil in the corners but it doesn’t show so well in the pics.

He really looks as if he might fall over with the weight of that bird on his shoulder!!!  (Or is it that I put him on the block wonky???)

FSC Is Saying – Thanks/Gratitude

The first challenge of the New Year at FSC this month is ‘Thanks/Gratitude’.  The lovely Esther picked the new theme.

Made my card along the same lines as my previous post.

The circle this time has been made using a different background stamp and only three colours are used.  The words THANK YOU you are stamped over the top.  A very pretty floral stamp from Stampin Up adds extra dimension over the inking and stenciling.

For the floral and butterfly corsage I added white acrylic paint to the tips.  The butterflies were cut from kraft cardstock.

Next I masked off the whole of the card before spraying only the corsage with dylusions White Linen ink spray.

One In A Million

Before I start with my card I just want to say how proud I am of my granddaughter Amber.  For her exam results this week she got:

1 A* (A star is top marks) … 4 A’s  and  4 B’s

Can you guess what she got the A star in … yep her … ART    yayyyyy … How cool is that and she actually rang me to say thank you for all the help I have given her over the years … awwww!!!!

Fashionable Stamping Challenges this fortnight have a terrific theme of  “A Birthday Card For Someone Special” which was picked by our wonderful DT sister Dot.

That’s a stroke of luck I managed to combine yesterdays class card with todays challenge at FSC.  When the girls arrived for the class you could hear the sighs of relief that there was no distressing or inking just lots of yummy stamping and masking.  They do love making kinetic style cards so I combined both for them.  We had a real scrummy day – well I say day it is actually only a 2 hour class but by the time we have had coffee and cake it is more like three hours.

Showed the girls how to make a tag card which was made by using the new Stampin Up tag punch and only one sheet of A4 card.  If you haven’t seen this punch already then you don’t know what you’re missing.

None of that ole malarkey of having to join four tags together, you can make the four tags from one sheet of cardstock.

Nothing was wasted from the A4 sheet.  With the left over slither I even managed to make a band to go around the card.  When shut the card folds flat for posting.

Most of the stamps used are from Stampin Up but the little girl images are from Crafty Individuals.

Cold & Frosty Colours

This month is Cold and Frosty Colours at Vintage Stamping Challenges.

That’s what I love about challenges you can interpret the theme anyway you want. Sometimes you might not be thinking along the same lines as others but thinking outside the box is definitely what we love to see at Vintage Stamping Challenges.

How cold and frosty does she look and Mr Owl looks quite chilled as well so I surrounded them with colours that I thought went well with their mood.

So that is where my card started, with that very chilling icy look of hers and his, then I built the colours and card around it. You can find Mr Chilly here at Flonz Crafts. Printed her onto canvas.

The birds are a Crafty Individuals stamp but the tree is so old I am unsure where it came from.

Dancing On Air

Time for Tuesday Treasures again and the treasure on my card today are the buttons I have made, love making these.
The reason I call them my treasures is because they are bottle tops which Andrew crushed for me so that I can make pretty things with them. Now I don’t think he really understands my obsession with crafting but if there is any heavy donkey work to be done he will help. I have a box full of crunched up bottle tops just waiting to be turned into little treasures. Thanks babe.

Both bottle tops have been Gessoed, whilst still wet I added pieces of voile gauze, the first I made two holes for the cotton to go through then added crackle accents, my second I again added voile but this time added a piece of purple material plus the crackle accents. This piece started off as a 6″ x 6″ piece of cereal box, Gessoed then added pieces of cotton voile gauze, the beautiful stamped image is from Crafty Individuals and coloured with copics. Another thing my little treasure did was buy me all the copics ahhhhh.

Another fave thing I did … haven’t done it for a while though is printed onto kitchen roll then die cut with various dies before adding to the edges. Love the dimpled effect you get when you use a quilted piece of kitchen roll. Below are the two images I printed out.
