That Time Of Year Again

Don’t you just love having birthdays?  Doesn’t matter how old you are the excitement never goes away (well not for me anyways).

Not going to say how old I am today but not quite at the three score years and ten yet!!!

Sharing with you the class cards which we made yesterday.

Made our own backgrounds on the A4 cardstock by brayering and using three different coloured inks.

1

My fave card from this selection is the “Cheerio Chaps” but the Dina Wakley Scribbly Birds is a close second.

More photos but this time I am showing a beautiful make that I received from Irene and as you can see a few crafting goodies were also included in the parcel.

A huge thanks “I”.

I had a really fabulous pressie from Crafty Friend (crafting of course) and Andrew bought me a light box which I have been after for ages.

Here’s a picture of what I bought for myself … as you do!!!!

Below is a pic of New Phil’s card from the  class yesterday (we call her that because there are two Phil’s)

Just had to take a photo because I loved the way her brayering on the card turned out.  The bottom piece looks just like a grassy meadow scene.

Lots Of Love

The Stamp Man want to see your best/favourite project over last year.

I have so many cards/projects that I really enjoyed making last year but this is probably the one I had most fun doing … Andrew’s last year’s Valentine’s card (to me) … you will have to see the original post HERE to see why I make my own Valentine’s cards!!!!

The letters are all stamped onto shrink plastic, the working out of how to space the apertures, then to make the letters fit and still spin around was so rewarding. Stamped and embossed the lovely Sketched Lady and Eiffel Tower from Clarity stamps

Lemon Meringue Pie Easel Calendar

That’s it 2011 is no more now let’s celebrate
2012
HAPPY NEW YEAR ONE AND ALL
I wish everyone good health, wealth, happiness and peace but most of all have fun and smile.

Thank You and more to all my amazing followers.
Fabiola
and Irene a special thanks to both of you.

Please don’t forget to pop back tomorrow so you can see my finished album (but not all embellished yet) for the
Postcards Challenge 2012 also to see what country we are visiting first and which of my characters will be there.

Fashionable Stamping Challenges has started their New Year with another fantastic challenge … Anything Goes With Your New Stash.

Badly needed a new calendar for 2012 but sadly didn’t get one … so made my own … loved making this easel calendar … not pink I hear you say … nope wanted it fresh and sunny but it turned out looking like a lemon meringue on my desk … still love it.

Threw everything at this card 😆 Stamping, heat embossing, dry embossing, paints, crackle painting, inking, stitching, made flower even personalised the calendar with all my special dates … you can just see the 26th January has a heart round it – that’s my grandsons birthday he will be 12 this year, hoping he was going to be a millennium baby but Claire held on to long 😆

Wait for it just know you are going to say yukkk!!! … my new foam stamp was stamped onto toilet paper (clean and unused) then carefully pulled apart (delicate operation) to one single layer, taped onto the doily and appliquéd onto the Anna Griffin paper. Bit of a dilemma with the colouring as it is very fragile, used a paintbrush dipped it into a yellow pigment ink then gently brushed onto the toilet paper, added clear embossing powder and heated on a slow setting 😎 tore away all the excess toilet paper after I had stitched . Stitched this onto the background which was painted with MS satin acrylic paint (jonquil) a layer of PVA glue was applied then white paint, left all to dry and hey presto it crackled showing this gorgeous lemon meringue colour.

Made the beautiful butterfly on the front which is a story in itself, going to tell all in my first video tutorial … which I am making for the next challenge at FSC 😉

After that marathon you must pop over and see all the Fashionettes creations because they will just wow you even more.

Entering Gingersnap Creations Colour Challenge Soft looking meringue colours … not really … they want to see soft yellows and white.

MIC Meets SS

Lion 4Lion 41What a yuk last few days for everyone – not even going to say the dreaded word of who’s fault it was, suffice to say it began with B

I have combined two challenges with this card – Sentimental Sundays meets Make It Colouful.

SS this week want to see your Handmade Flowers and MIC want to see your Dotty Backgrounds

The beautiful sentiment on my easel card is one from Raindrop Echo Designs the Floral Haven Sentiments.
I mixed and matched two of the sentiments from this set to make the beautiful sentiment below,
and the adorable image is Courageous Carl from Crissy’s Art & Heart both are from Whimpsy Stamps.
Background image is from Make It Crafty from The Secret Garden collection called Daffodil Dell. Trust me there is a dotty background there.

010618010620010619

Papers used are We R Memory Keepers – Carl and Daffodil Dell have been watercoloured.
The three large silk flowers have been heated so they melt and go all crinkly, my little white flower is a piece of salvage edged material.

Last week at Sentimental Sundays we celebrated our first anniversary and we had a mini blog hop.
All the DT’s who participated were allowed to give away a digital sentiment of the winner’s choice from Raindrop Echo Designs.

The winner from my blog is – MARSHA – congratulations Marsha , please email us at sentimentalsundays@raindropecho.com
with your choice of digital sentiment set from Raindrop Echo Designs. Please remember to put – Blog Hop Winner – in the subject line.

You will have to scroll down further to see the tutorial …. Click on card to see larger image.

The double twisted easel card lends itself perfectly for a sentiment and an image …. not sure about you but I struggle sometimes about where to put the sentiment.

Sentimental Sundays has opted for a colour challenge this week, they want to see pink, red and white on your projects. Our sponsor this week is Maljen’s Designs and I chose to make a Get Well Soon card because I fell in love with the Sick Little Bear image which you can find here isn’t he the cutest.

Have done a little bit of colouring and paper piecing on the image, two sentiments on the card one stamped (my favourite Penny Black) and the other an adorable sentiment from Raindrop Echo Designs and OMG going off the subject a bit here but Ann V has designed the most delish Postage Stamps Sentiments you have ever seen …. I WANT THEM …. I NEED THEM …. sorry bit carried away but I do oh so want them as you can tell …. anyway you can find the stamps here. Don’t forget to check out what you can win when you enter and have a look at all the DT girls inspiration this week it is awe inspiring.

Entering for : Allsorts Challenge -It’s all about the sentiment

Any problems with the tutorial please let me know and I will try and help …. also I would love if you left a link on your blog to this tutorial.

When finished the card fits into a DL envelope perfectly.

(Please click on the picture for a larger view)

Steps 1 and 2

Cut a 20 x 20 cm square card and score at 10cm (the middle)

Turn the cardstock 90 degrees and score at 10cm mark but only score half way (to the other score line)

Cut a tiny slither out of the card (about 2 mm) as shown in the diagram

Score diagonally from the outside corner in towards the middle as shown in the diagram for both sides

Please check the diagram to make sure your diagonal scores are correct

t0102t0103

Step 3 and 4

Fold over both the diagonal scores as shown and really crease with a bone folder (what I use is a little rubber roller)

They should both look like the second diagram

t0104t0106

Steps 5 and 6

Turn the card over and lay flat again, adhere tape to the triangle sides as shown in the diagram

Turn card over to the right side, fold in half and raise up triangles as shown in second picture

t0107t0108

Steps 7 and 8

Cut two pieces of cardstock 10 x 10 cm

and attach to the triangle pieces as shown

t0109t0110

Wahoo if all goes well you should end up making a beautiful card …. I would oh so love to see the cards you make so please leave a comment because I will pop on over and have a look.

I thought you might like to see my table before I started I always throw things into the pot before I decide what I am going to use, would love to know how you work.

GD For My Sheri Crafts

Click on Tutorials to see how this easel card is made ….

I had a really lovely surprise e-mail from My Sheri Crafts asking me if I wanted to be a Guest Designer for their challenge blog this week, and of course I said yes …. here is Sheri’s blog, hop on over and check out her amazing creations.

The challenge for this week is Valentine’s Day …. made a double twisted easel card …. so in love with these at the moment …. used a Meljen’s Designs image called Lovin’ Turtle on the tags, water coloured them both and then added glossy accents. Have no one to give this to at the moment but I’m sure it will go to a good home eventually.

His & Hers Cards

Wow long post because I have combined two DT cards but please scroll down and see Andrew’s Valentine’s card ….

Sunday here again and that means another Sentimental Sundays but today you get to see two cards because Let’s Ink It Up also has their monthly challenge so you get two cards for the price of one.

Now I mention price because as you know Andrew won’t buy me a card from the shops …. no no not because he’s mean …. well that’s what he tells me …. but because bless him he says they are not worthy enough for one so talented …. have you ever heard such a load of old waffle …. but I fall for it every time and love him to bits for even thinking it …. thanks hun …. shhhh don’t say anything, but I think the real reason is …. I spend so much money on crafting goodies that he thinks I should use them …. he has a point ….

010447010448

Before I go any further I have to say the response for last months challenge was tremendous you gave all the DT’s a hard time choosing the winner and top 3 so we had to make it a top 5. I want to say another huge thank you to Suzanne and Claire for asking me to stay on as a DT member at Let’s Ink It Up, chuffed doesn’t begin to describe how I feel and also sad because we are saying goodbye to some very talented ladies who I wish all the best.

Anyways this is the card I made for myself, it is an easel for the Let’s Ink It Up challenge which is on Australian time and as you know they are way ahead of us …. we would love to see your Romantic/Valentine’s projects. This is the card I made for myself and I love it. Took a lot of working out for me to stamp the letters onto the shrink plastic and then to shrink them down so they fitted just right into the circle apertures and still spun around …. hey presto it worked they spin nicely. Used my Cricut Expression …. you know the one I am not very keen on …. but saw the lovely Summer In Paris Cartridge and couldn’t resist, stamped and embossed the lovely Sketched Lady and Eiffel Tower from Clarity stamps again, because it’s my card and I can, guess what else surprise surprise it’s a pink card.

We have two sponsors for this challenge, Whiff of Joy Stamps who have kindly given a Willow With Champagne Rubber Stamp and Mad For Markers who have donated a set of three markers, a pack of Xpress It Card and a Copic Swatch Book, what fantastic prizes for some lucky winner.

Time to run on over and have a look at all the superb inspiration from the other DT girls, leave a hugable comment and enter your lovey dovey creations.

Sentimental Sundays challenge this week is Valentines and here is Andrew’s Valentine’s card, cute eh. We are being sponsored this week by Deedee’s Digis and when I saw this cute image I just knew what I was going to make. A double easel card was needed for this project, printed off two images, changed one of them so they were facing each other then paper pieced both with lovely yummy bright colours. Both cards will look lovely on the mantelpiece next week. I really would love to see all your beautiful creations …. that’s the nosey part of me …. so mooch on over and see all the other DT girls creations, it would be great if you would leave some love and enter.

Digital Two For Tuesday

010395010396

Wow a Brucie bonus girls you get to see this easel card early, I made this for Digital Two For Tuesday and I had a lovely e-mail off Cora saying she has posted it early, so here we are.

Cora sent some lovely images to make cards with and the first three freebies showing here are the ones I picked for three different cards, you will see one tomorrow and the other Tuesday.

Today is my first experiment with different backgrounds and very pleased with the effect. Took original photo of card resting on a Kay & Co paper …. have been doing this for a while now …. but the next image I cut and pasted from the original photo and layered onto a digital background …. really pleased with the effect, will be experimenting with this some more Hope you like it and please let me know if you like the effect of the backgrounds.

Let’s Ink It Up Meets Sentimental Sundays

Love all those tags.  When opened they all just bounce into life.

010383010385

010386010387010388010389

Surprise, surprise chuck Let’s Ink It Up Challenge is Christmas …. ha ha I know, only Cilla and us oldies will understand that one …. the twist this time round is to add Sparkle or Bling …. how easy is that especially at Christmas time. Only two weeks this time round for the challenge girls …. whoopee …. good ole Suzanne is letting us have time off for good behaviour …. oops sorry I mean Christmas.

All the DT’s have left you some lovely inspiration to look at, so go take an ogle and while there leave us your creations so we can visit you and leave lots of Christmas love & cheer.

Making this Sunburst mini album was fabulous …. found the tutorial here …. fell in love with it hook line and sinker, changed the album cover because I wanted a fold over front.

It is such a huge surprise when opened, the album bursts out to display all 7 tags inside. I used core card for my album and stamped holly leaves onto the V shaped edges before I put it together. When I was finished stamping, embossing, distressing, dry embossing …. used 5 different embossing folders …. each tag, I dabbed versamark all over, covered with holographic embossing powder and heated, also did the same to the back, wow do they bling and pop. Will be making this one again

Next is my easel card for this weeks Sentimental Sundays Challenge – Anniversary

010390

Sorry about the sense of humour …. bit warped sometimes …. couldn’t resist adding the bit about the buns and admit it you had a little smile.

I particularly like Sentimental Sundays freebies this week and the winner also gets 4 individual sentiments sets from the Raindrop Echo Designs Whimsy Stamps Digital Collection and a custom watermark/signature set from the Custom Design at Whimsy Stamps. DT girls have all excelled themselves this week with such a varied selection of cards to give you tons of inspiration.

Penny Black – not the stamp

010204010201

010198010205

What a fantastic day Saturday was, everything went well. Got home after class and decided to make my card for Crafty Angels because Andrew was watching his boys as he calls them on the tele …. err can you believe it Aldershot on TV prime time Saturday afternoon …. no neither can I? Well they lost but we won’t go there. It’s the play off’s and Aldershot are still in with a chance of promotion but only if they win their game on Wednesday. Now I can hear all the little grey cells thinking why is she talking about football …. well if they win on Wednesday they will be playing the final at Wembley and what does that mean girls …. a trip back to the UK …. and …. shopping …. see that wasn’t difficult knew you’d get there in the end.

Anyway back to Crafty Angels …. ripping and tearing is the challenge for this week …. so just had to ink those edges.

This fabulous digi image is from Whoopsi Daisy Designs, and it comes with another 3 different images on the sheet which are equally as cute as this one …. if you pop on over now Linnie has a freebie on offer. While there you should have a peek at sheet 53 which is already coloured …. wow oh wow …. not sure but I think this is a new thing because they never used to be coloured. Also have a peek at Sheet 3 …. now I am not usually a fairy person but I bought this because the images are soooo pretty, can’t wait to make a card with them.

Masked off the image before I inked all over with mustard seed which was also used for the edge of the scalloped paper, stamped over the image with the little Tapestry stamps – just on one side, then coloured the image with distress inks. Ripped, curled and inked the edges of the green paper which is also from Basic Grey Origins with dusty concord …. lastly inked the flower with same, cut a circle shape for the base and added lace and a birthday sentiment from Stampin Up.

When I saw this image for the first time it reminded me so much of my little Penny Black – so couldn’t resist adding the wording and colouring her with black soot.
