Nature Theme At FSC

For this month’s challenge FSC is going with the theme of ‘NATURE’ which has been picked by my lovely DT teamie Carola.

Made another art journal page for my FSC piece with trailing autumn coloured ivy leaves but check out those legs – how cool do they look?

I have been wanting some Viva Las Vegas Stamps for a while and Dot has now got some in her shop Ink Art Designs.

We still Skype each other two, maybe three times a week and I was soooo excited when she said she was getting these stamps in.

There are many different makes of stamps for you to buy from her shop but I bought most of the Viva Las Vegas ones.

Guess what stamped images you will be seeing in the coming months???

Ivy Wall from Inkylicious was stamped with a Big and Juicy ink pad called Spice, then ever so lightly spritzed with water.  It was really a very fine mist because I didn’t want to lose the detail of the image.  The ink pad is dye based and works just like DI’s but it has five tonal colours in one, the pad works extremely well with a brayer.  Both the Inkylicious stamp and ink pad have been in my stash for years so it’s about time they started to see the light of day again.

Used the bird and leafy branch from a Stampin Up collection called Papaya Collage which is retired now.

Would really love it if you hopped on over to see all the DT’s work as they are simply stunning.

Ink Art Designs Etsy Shop is sponsoring FSC and they will be offering a stamp for the winner of each new challenge.

Mixed Media Wall Plaque

This plaque started life as reject MDF off cuts given to me by Crafty Friend, she was given them and then shared with me.
Now that’s what I call a friend, what do you think?

There have been no Saturday classes over the summer but last week saw the start of them again.

Because of one thing and another Phil was the only person who could make it and she didn’t mind having a one to one, below is what we made.

Slow start to the class because we were nattering, consequently we didn’t get it completed.  Finally finished mine and well chuffed with how it turned out.

The Plaque is very dimensional and touchy feely, love it.

Used stamps from Inkylicious, Crafty Individuals, Stampin Up, PaperArtsy and a new one which I just bought by Seth Apter (that’s the frame in the middle).

Apart from the stamping I painted, stencilled, used paper napkins, builders mesh and gauze.

Also found some old twine which I plaited to make the hanger for the plaque.

I am entering this into the Craft Stamper Challenge which is Anything Goes.

Winter is well and truly here with us so to give myself a real feel of warmth I made this card with some very vibrant colours.

Cut a circle aperture in the front before adding a clock die.  When opened the inside of the card looks like this.

Toyed with adding numbers around the edge but I thought it might look t0o busy.  All the inks used are from Stampin Up.

Added a stamped painter image which you can find here from Flonz’s store.

Up Up And Away

I have just come back from the most fabulous 10 day holiday where Irene, Paul, Andrew and myself toured around the West Coast of Ireland.

Started the trip by driving to the North, Portrush, where we visited the Giant’s Causeway then on to Sligo via Donegal.

We also stopped off at Mullaghmore … they had a little craft shop which was a surprise!!  We then made our way along the Wild Atlantic Way to Achill Island which is too stunning for words and stayed at the best B & B ever.  All the other stopovers were 4 star hotels but they weren’t a patch on the B & B.

Making our way down to Galway we just had to make a stop at Toormakeady where we visited the most fantastic craft shop called Create With Kate (the boys were very good about this) lol.  Kate made us soooo welcome with tea/coffee and cakes, fantastic.  I can highly recommend you visit Kate’s shop if you come to Ireland (and can find it!).

Next came Limerick but before then we visited the Cliffs Of Moher which were breathtaking, then made our way to Cork.  Before leaving Cork we visited Blarney Castle where Paul kissed the Blarney Stone but Irene chickened out.  Andrew and myself climbed all the way to the top of the castle but no way were we kissing the Blarney Stone!!!

We were so close to Tipperary (10 kilometers) but no time left to visit, this will be for another time.  On to Kilkenny then back home to Gorey.  Fabulous break.

Fashionable Stamping Challenges this fortnight has a theme of  ‘Person or Persons’    My lovely teamie sister Amanda chose this fantastic theme.

I would love it if you hopped on over to see all the DT’s work as they are simply stunning.  Also don’t forget that the winner of this challenge has $20 to choose anything they like from Flonz’s store.

Old Favourites At FSC

Fashionable Stamping Challenges this fortnight has a theme of  ‘Old Favourites’    My lovely teamie sister Esther chose this fantastic theme.

“Oh the tales she could tell” …  about this card being made!!!!  All is revealed below.

She started life as just a square card but me being me thought it looked too boring.  Out came the sewing machine and I stitched all around the edge.

Still looked rather plain and as luck would have it I had a circular aperture card on my desk.

Made a score line down the left hand side of the card and folded back.  Then I glued the stitched card to the inside of the aperture card.  Next I stitched everything together along the score line … still with me ???

All started to look better especially when I stamped the flower and quote on the front.  Voila, all done.

I also have a little tale to tell about the old favourite stamp used.  It is one of my all time favourite stamps called Isobelle from Inkylicious.

Technically this is a new stamp which I recently bought at Ally Pally … ahhh … but I had this stamp years ago and whilst taking it out of the packaging it ripped on me.  Now, because I loved it soooo much I re-bought it.

So even though this one is new I did have the other stamp a good few years before it ripped.  Another reason why I am not keen on acrylic stamps.

The last time I used the stamp was here 17th January 2014 when I made a Nuts & Bolts Album.

Stamping, embossing plus inking makes for a very enjoyable time. Hope you love it as much as the fun I had making.

I would love it if you hopped on over to see all the DT’s work as they are simply stunning.  Also don’t forget that the winner of this challenge has $20 to choose anything they like from Flonz’s store.

VSC Wants You To Bring On Those Spring Colours

Vintage Stamping Challenges has a challenge theme this month of ‘Bring On Those Spring Colours’.  This means you can make anything with your interpretation of Spring colours.

I went with a very muted colour scheme for my card as I am not really feeling the spring mood yet.  Which is a shame because I was the one who chose the theme for this month.  Very optimistic of me because our weather at the moment is bitterly cold with intermittent sprinklings of the fluffy white stuff.

Used a FlonzCrafts stamp which you can find here but I am not sure she should be painting outside in this weather.

To enter this month’s challenge just click Mr Linky at the bottom of the VSC web page and maybe it could be you who wins the $20 from Flonz’s store. Please visit the DT’s blogs for more inspiration and also it would be nice to leave them some love.

Storage Shoe For Tags

Are you ready for this … another Skype session with Irene and today we made this fabulous storage shoe for tags.  This is already sitting on my desk with all those yummy tags just waiting to be used.  We loved making this so much that we each said we are making another but this time it will be for our finished tags.

I used grey board and Tim Holtz papers with some core card for the inside.  Only a teensy bit of stamping (couldn’t resist) you know me and stamping.

Very simple to make as there isn’t much going on really.  What else would you expect from a storage box.
Wait until we make the one for finished tags that will be a different matter.

Our First Skype Session

Been on at my SIL for sooooo long that I had given up that it was ever going to happen but yayyyyy it has and long may it last.  She finally got a web cam!!!!!!!

What a day my SIL Irene and I had two weeks ago.  We had our very first  ‘Crafty Skype Day’  and what a day it was.  We started at 10 in the morning and finished at 4 in the afternoon.  We didn’t want to either but we both thought that maybe we should start making the dinner for the other halves.  Below is what we made.  Well this is what I made and it won’t be long before you can see what Irene’s looks like because I am pleased to say she is going to be back blogging again soon.

So much fun was had that we are doing it each week.  You should see what we made this week it’s just gorgeous.  A bit more scruffy and distressed than the make below.

It’s just like having Irene in the room with me.  We trot off to have a coffee, then eat our lunch … maybe hang out some washing all in between our crafting.  Irene is a fabulous crafter but she lacks the confidence to use all her crafty stash and that’s just what I make her do.

Showing front and back of the album first with loads of scrummy stamping.  I used the Cinch to bind mine and Irene used the Bind-It-All plus my colours are mainly black, red and brown whereas hers are more purply, I think.  So long ago I’ve been asleep since then.

Used a couple of Tim Holtz pics for inside but changed the lady as she didn’t match the page opposite.  I whitened all of one side which turned out just right.

The flowered page is the back of a SU envelope with a SU stamped white embossed flower before colouring in with a white chalk pen also from Stampin Up.

Thought I would add a male page with the yummy new stamps from SU called Traveler.

Loads more pages but I think you have seen enough for one day.

Watch out for more projects because as I said this is a weekly Skype Craft Day.

All Of A Twitter

Haven’t shown one of my class cards for ages but had a little time on my hands and decided to show what the girls made today.

They all get a bit nervous when it comes to colouring but they needn’t have because all the cards looked stunning when finished.

We used the Scribbly Birds stamps as they are such a great size to cut out and  colour.  The bird was stamped directly onto the card before being masked off.  Next we over stamped with the Ivy Wall from the Inkylicious range.   Various Distress Inks were used for the colouring in before adding the butterfly die and stamped quote.

Bring On The Sunshine For Those Crafting Days

Off for a sleep over tomorrow with my crafty friend, feel like a teenager again when I say that.

Can anyone remember those weekend sleepovers when you were younger?  I’m sure it definitely wasn’t craft on the mind then, as far as I can remember me thinks boys were the main topic of conversation!!!

Summer for the schoolkids here starts really early (compared to the UK) because today is their last day of school until September.  Can you Adam and Eve it, nearly three months off!!  My crafty friend works full time at a school so she has all the school holidays off … wahoooo … lots of lazy crafting days ahead and a holiday to look forward to.
