All About The Leftovers

It wasn’t just about the cards in the class on Saturday but also with regards to the leftover paint and ink which is usually always left on the craft sheet.

The girls were asked to bring along their Art journals so they could mop up their leftovers in it.

This also gave the girls homework.  I asked them to finish their journal pages at home, bring back next week, then we could see how each completed their pages.

My finished pages, hopefully it’s a little inspiration, especially for Phil,  lol … (she’ll understand).  Worked on my mop up pages after the class had finished.

These are the two cards I taught in the class.

Watercolour Day

These are easy watercolour cards, been promising myself that I would make a couple of spare cards like Lauren’s Birthday card.

Her card is here which looks more CAS than this one.

Bon Voyage Paloma

This is a very special post today, it’s all about the lovely Lys who started Paloma’s Peace Chain Journey around the world.

If you have not heard about dear Paloma then I urge you to go see all about how her journey started and who she has visited.

When I came back from my hols (we were away for nearly a month) there was a very large parcel sitting on my doormat.  Could not for the life of me think what I had ordered before I went away.

What an utter delight awaited me when I opened the parcel.  Dearest Corinne had sent Paloma on to me with an abundance of goodies in tow.

Poor little might must have flapped her wings like crazy, all the way from France to Wexford in Ireland.

She has made two very dear friends here in Ireland,  at first they were not so sure about her, but now that Paloma is winging her way across the Irish waters to another land they are very sad.

Her first newest friend is Penny, they bonded with each other from the very start.

We all need friendship and peace but sadly we do not see enough of it in the world today.
So what better way to showcase our dear little dove than with Man’s Best Friend?

She was very good whilst here and she shared herself around equally with the fur babies.

Byron actually was the gentlest with her and very protective, Penny wanted to play all the time.

I do hope that the photos above show how with a little bit of love, gentleness and kindness we could all live in a better world.

Palmona is just about to fly away to another chapter in her journey around the world to spread the word about peace and love.

Sadly not everyone can have this beautiful and tranquil scene from their garden but each and everyone of us can carry beauty and love in our hearts.

Farewell little one you have a long journey ahead of you across the Irish sea to another country but I am sure your message of love and peace flies with you.

Bon Voyage Paloma.

Flicking And Dripping White Paint

Crafty friend came to stay last weekend where she joined in with my class.  As you can imagine it was chaos but very enjoyable and hugely funny.  It sure cheered me up I can tell you.

Whilst waiting for the class to start we had a play around in my craft room with some new PB stamps of mine.  We inked onto watercolour card before stamping the flowers.

Finally finished my piece by adding a Scribbly Bird stamp by Dina Wakley which I coloured with chalk inks and paint.  Dribbled white acrylic paint in the right hand corner before flicking with more paint.

I am sure Crafty friend hasn’t even looked at hers yet let alone finished it!!!

The close up shows the stencilled flowers and the modelling paste which I coloured over the top.

This is the journal page which the girls and crafty friend made in the class, very different from the above make.  Much more vibrant and very Autumnal looking.

How different each journal page looked from the next.  We used Gelatos for the background colours with loads of stamping and stencilling.

Well done girls by the time we had finished each page looked stunning.

Fun In The Evening

Crafting time for me is during the day – it is extremely unusual for me to be in the craft room in the evening or at weekends for that matter.  Andrew stills works full time so my evenings and weekends are spent with him.

If there is footie on the telly then Andrew usually watches it in the craft room which leaves me free to watch whatever I want in the lounge.  He was watching Aldershot play the other night so I decided to join him (definitely not to watch the footie) but to have a play with some new stamps I had bought.

For my background I started with a large sheet of watercolour paper and three different colours of Distress Paint.  Ended up with two very different makes from the same sheet of paper.  The first being a pretty looking card made with some new Penny Black goodies.

Then a tag using a new Stampotique stamp.

Birds Of A Feather

Good morning blogland, hope you’ve gotten over losing that hour???  –  Showing two cards today, both very similar and why has she done two cards very similar you ask?

It’s because I made a mistake with the first one and forgot to add something to the mix.  Can you believe I forgot to add the extra card in the middle.  So one card has a few embellies and other has the middle card.  This is my Saturday morning class make and the girls love to see the finished article before we start so hence the two cards.

The topper on the card was the technique they learnt how to do and all loved it.  As you know stamping is my first love and getting messy my second but this card has the wow factor with hardly any mess.  It is made along the same lines as my explosion of colour card here.

We started by stamping a very old but still a fave stamp of mine from Hero Arts called French Writing With Butterfly which we heated with white embossing powder.  Then an acrylic block came into play.  Dabbed Tea Dye DI onto it before spritzing with water then placed over the top of the white stamped image.  Left this to dry and went ahead with making up the card.

The card is another kinetic one which is made from one sheet of A4 cardstock.  It has an easel stand at the back for ease of standing up.  The topper fits onto another little card which has been added to the middle and there is also a flap at the front.   Everything lays flat for ease of sliding into the envelope.

We went back to the topper and over stamped, in a lighter shade of ink, with a background crackle stamp.  Lightly buff so the white image pops through.

A craft sheet was added to the mix at this stage with three contrasting DI ink colours being dabbed onto it.  The bird stamp was pressed into the colours and given a little wiggle so the colours blended onto the stamp.  Move away from the craft sheet, this is important as you really don’t want any drops of water falling onto your inks, then spritz the stamp with water.  Press the stamp onto the topper but do not leave very long as the image will puddle.  Used a botanical stamp next and did the same … pressed and wiggled gently.

Lastly the word “Believe” was inked with Versafine Black (my #1 choice of ink pad).  Ehhhh red faced here … guess who forgot to give this stamp to the girls … sorry girls.

These are the two cards I made.

Here are the girl’s wonderful works of art they all did fabulously, don’t you agree?

Thank you Phil,  Susan, Faraway, Theresa, Maria and Phil (not a mistake we have two Phil’s in the class) for making my Saturdays so enjoyable and full of fun.  Huge thanks to Maria for supplying the M & S cakes each time … yummmm.

Glitter & Shine For C2CU

Friday … another week just whizzed by and I’m sitting here wondering where it went!!!

Today is week 3 of the Crafts-Too-Challenge You which has this months theme of texture.
Onto twist 2 of the theme and we would dearly love to see you add something shiny or glittery.

When I first saw the words shiny or glittery … picture the scene … me sitting in my chair in the craft room … hair standing on end just like a Mohican … face looked as if it had seen JACK THE RIPPER … frozen scream from my mouth … first thought, that awful glittery card which shed everywhere!!!

Phew panic over, the ole gray matter kicked in and calm soothing thoughts entered of Frantage, embossing powder, glimmer mists and other lovely goodies needless to say the hair and face went back to normal.

Close up first because I wanted you to see the Frantage button which is delicious, this is the mold I used just a tiny amount of Frantage needed then popped into the oven on a baking tray to set. You can see the other buttons made with it here. Be warned they are very delicate when made so treat with x x loving care x x

The yummy embossing folder is an A4 Crafts Too. Only used on half the card then obscured most of it with the image … why do we do that??? The knotted bow is made with a bandage … don’t even go there as to why the bandage was on my desk, I have no idea … just cut off a bit, tied in a knot then spritzed with glimmer mist … mmmmmm glimmer mists!!! Also spritzed the flowers … nothing escapes when I have the glimmer mists in my little puddies!!! Used a gold embossing powder for the stamped images, both are from Penny Black called Soft Sculptureand How To Fly. The stencil which also got the gold treatment is called Mini Bricks.

That’s it waffling over, now it’s your turn to have fun and enter those scrummy pieces plus hop on over to see what my other teemies have made. All gorgeous makes of art as usual.

Complete Surprise Another Published Card

Wow published again but this really was a complete surprise. Irene rang me to say had I seen it … easy one to answer … no.

Why it was such a shock to me was because I made this card two years ago … 23rd October 2010 to be precise!!!!! Simply Cards & Papercraft issue 102 is where you will find this card.

See the original posting here to learn how I made it but I have also posted the pictures below. Still can’t believe that a card which I made two years ago can still be worth publishing.

If I was to make this card today I would actually only change the flowers. Except the one which I completely embossed and which looks like plastic. The rest I would probably stamp onto then add glimmer mists and scrunch up more.

The card is a double gatefold and here is what it looks like when opened.

Distressed Flowers

What am I like, started making my card for tomorrow’s class and then went off on a complete journey of my own. This is where that journey took me, I love it but not sure that the girls will !!!

Oh well back to the drawing board. Will use the same elements but probably make the card a wee bit prettier and more colour!!! Anyway pop back tomorrow and see what pops out of this little head.
