Behind Throwing With The Funkie Junkie Christmas Tags

Here is the link for the first Funkie Junkie Christmas Tag … Linda is already onto tag #3, got to get those little puddies moving so that I can catch up. Scroll down to see the challenge rules.

I have only just recently bought something from Linda’s Boutique and I have to say the service was quick but she also added some delightful little goodies in the package.

First saw these tags on Astrid’s and Silvia’s blogs and loved the idea so after another blog hop to Linda I decided I was going to have a go. Here is tag #2.

My tag was inspired by the lovely swirls on Linda’s tag but I went with traditional Christmas colours.
Stamped onto the tag … after doing the bis with the DI inks … with gold E P, used a Penny Black stamp called Snow Scroll, then everything went downhill from there as I went floating off on my own little planet of Shirl!!

This must be the quickest time that I have cut into a Graphic 45 paper pad. Only got it a few days ago but just couldn’t wait to snip snip snip with those scissors. Stamped the reindeer onto shrink plastic but also stamped onto cardstock with black E P. After colouring in with DI, Aged Mahogany did the ole snip snip again and glued onto the tag.

Funkie Junkie Christmas Tag Rules

  • This is an inspiration challenge. Each week, I will post my tag and you will use it to be inspired to make something. You can enter any sort of craft. It can be a tag, a card, a home decor project, a scrapbook layout – your choice but please make it winter/holiday related.
  • You must take inspiration from something on my tag and tell us in your post what inspired you. You don’t have to use my style, my layout, my colors, my theme or anything except be inspired by something on my sample. Your make can be shabby, it can be grungy or it can be clean and simple. I don’t mind if you CASE my work, but if you do, please give me credit.
  • We will have 12 weekly challenges beginning today, Monday, September 23rd. You can link your project using the linky provided. If you don’t have a blog, you can use another hosting site such as SplitCoast Stampers, but you must provide all required links and information in your posting.
  • To be eligible for the drawing at the end of the 12 weeks, you must: 1) enter all 12 challenges, 2) provide a link back to this challenge and mention that it is sponsored by my store The Funkie Junkie Boutique, with a link to the boutique.
  • You do have to have a blog (or some other way to provide the required links and inspiration information).
  • All 12 challenges will remain open until December 22nd. You can play any of the 12 challenges up through that date. To be eligible to win, you must have submitted an entry into all 12 of these challenges by midnight Eastern Time December 22nd.
  • On December 23rd, from the pool of players who participated in every single challenge and provided a link to the challenge and a link to my store on their post, I will draw three winners. There will be one $50 grand prize gift certificate to The Funkie Junkie Boutique given out plus two runner up prizes of $25 gift certificates.
  • Additionally, everyone who participated in all the challenges and met the requirements will receive a 10% off coupon good for their entire order at The Funkie Junkie Boutique during the month of January 2014.

Altered Holiday Box

Not sure if you remember my crafting holiday to Rhyl in North Wales with two friends … one a crafter the other a book reader … at the beginning of July. The holiday where we didn’t get as much done as we hoped because the weather turned into a Mediterranean scorcher.

Actually we did get some things done and below is the circular box which I altered. Also started a canvas but didn’t finish … ehh still on my desk waiting to be completed!!! Coloured some images which I will be adding to cards or an album … decisions, decisions ahhh.

What I love most about this box are the buttons on the top. These were made with a mold to which I added Frantage Embossing Enamel and clear UTEE. Added four little cotton reels to the bottom of the box which look really neat as teensy tiny feet. Stamped the Elizabeth Bennet from Indigo Blu onto shrink plastic.

Covered the inside of the box and the inside lid with the same decoupaged napkins as I used for the top. When everything dried I gave an all over wash.

Fantasy Flitter

Can’t believe I have made my class card for tomorrow already … just sitting down before I fall!!!!

The girls are going to be using the flitter flakes and flitter glue from Indigo Blue. They will also be making an acetate flower which has been coloured with alcohol inks.

I thought I would show you how the inside of my cards look and also the back.
First I pre-stamp the image then scan it into GIMP which makes it very easy to make an inner for the card.
Wrap a verse around the image and all looks very professional. I also add the image to the back of my card with all my details.

That is not a blob after www.shirlsartwork.com, I deliberately distorted because it is my e-mail address.

This is another card which was taught at my Monday class.

We used a Hero Arts stamp which we stamped onto shrink plastic as well as the main card.

The papers are a digital download from Pink Petticoat.
