Do you ever have one of those days when your mind wanders aimlessly when you are tidying up. Started fluffing the pillows in the conservatory and picked up Raggedy Annie to fluff her too when I realised all her colours were fading. It was then my mind started wandering back to the first time I made this doll.
Clare wanted to give her bridesmaids a doll each, for a keepsake of their day, which was dressed in the same bridesmaid outfits as they were in …. wires a bit crossed at this point …. because she thought I would just buy a cheap doll from Woolworths and redress it with the dresses I made. Shirley thought she meant buy a pattern and do everything from scratch …. which I did.
Hair is braided with wool, faces all embroidered, buttons for the eyes and lots of sewing. They have little pantaloons and petticoats made of netting under the dresses. Each doll is 25 inches tall. When the little bridesmaids were given these dolls as a thank you …. plus necklaces each I think …. their faces were a picture, lots of ooos and ahhhs. Anyway I enjoyed making them so much that I made one for myself.
JP and Clare have been married for 17 years now …. so it’s no wonder little Raggedy Annie is fading …. and a better daughter-in-law you couldn’t wish to find, I have always said Clare is the daughter I never had.
What am I like …. back to the housework …. or maybe cardmaking…..
elles sont trop marrante ces petites poupées, elles ont de bonnes bouilles, biz
Awh we finally get to see them. After managing three cushions this weekend, I don’t think i’d be able for them somehow. They’re fantastic and totally unique.
