Face Your Fears – I Dare You

We’ve put the clean and tidy journal away for the moment and created two pages in the mixed media one instead.

A very different journal indeed, all grungy and painty with loads of texture, this is definitely the touchy feely one of the two.

Not much colour used on these pages because the previous ones here were very vibrant and busy so a more subtle tone was called for.

Out came the Pebeo modeling paste plus some Tim Holtz tissue paper.  Chalk paints were used alongside some dry brushing with Gesso.

Selection of stamps, stencils and tissue paper used.

All About Winter or Spring At FSC

FSC wants to see ‘Winter or Spring’ this month which the lovely Caro picked as the theme.

I went for Spring with my DT piece and as you can see love is definitely in the air with this make.

Unusual for me to have hearts on my card but because Valentine’s Day is just around the corner I made this for Clare to give to JP.

The script heart stamp is a discontinued one but it was made by Anita’s and the LOVE stamp is from Studio 490.

Showing the card that my Saturday class made which was mainly about the water colouring and die cutting.

The backgrounds on both cards were water coloured and I used the die cuts for dry embossing rather than cutting out.

Apart from the flowers and birds which were cut out and glued on afterwards.

Both cards together.

Calling This One Mr Goofy Meets FSC

FSC is all about ‘Tis The Season’ this month which my uber-talented team mate Dot picked as the theme.

Dot explained that we could have either Autumn or Winter as our season … Autumn called to me.

Definitely time for those sun shades.

Let me tell you, I kid you not when I say that this pic is nowhere near as vibrant as the card actually looks, sorry about the glare.

Made the background with paints and a leaf stencil which was cut to size before placing onto the card.

Stamped Mr Goofy onto the background so that little elements of him fell onto the card.

Stamp used is from one of my new sets … I say sets because I bought heaps of these whilst home recently.

As you know I love to go to the The Craft Barn when home and sooooo lucky this time round that Chris Dark  was altering a gorgeous box so I booked in … hoping to put pics up later this week.

Quirky stamps are absolutely my thing … Stampotique are one of my all time faves … but I can see me falling in love with these PaperArtsy ones just as much.

Other stamps used are Studio 490 – Tales Of Art and An Eye For Art.

Would really love it if you hopped on over to see all the DT’s work as they are simply stunning.  Also don’t forget that the winner of this challenge has $20 to choose anything they like from Flonz’s store.

It’s A Magpie Girls

You’re all probably wondering why there is another posting from me … well last week I fell off a fence, cut my shin and twisted my knee.  As Andrew kindly pointed out to me, should not have been on the fence in the first place.  Had the knee xrayed and thankfully no bones broken (it’s sooooo painful) but I have to elevate it and keep off as much as possible.  Thankfully the crafting part doesn’t put any extra pressure or weight on it … hence more crafting.

Slapped wrist again, I have had this Clarity Stencil at least 3 years (could be 4)!!!  Bought 5 different Clarity stencils at Ally Pally, not one has been out of the packet until today.  Stop gasping girls because I am probably not the only one who impulse buys.  One down four to go!!!

You will laugh at this one, before opening the pack I looked to see what the bird was called but unfortunately Clarity do not put the names of their stencils anywhere on their packs.  Not a problem, just went with colours I liked.  It was only when I was looking to add a link for the stencil that I found out what it was called …. MAGPIE.  Now who doesn’t know what colour a magpie is????  Me presumably because this little Magpie is green, yellow and blue.

Thought the stamped quote from Studio 490 Wildflower Art was so appropriate.

Coloured (Mr Magpie) … could be anything once he’s coloured … with Faber Castell watercolour pencils and used Black Soot DI shading around the edges.

Entering the above for the Stampotique Designers Challenge 258 where they want to see a Favourite Quote.

Enjoying colouring in again, which I used to do a lot of, especially the shading side.  Amber and I used to sit for hours on end just shading and colouring and she always thanks me as it helped her no end with her artwork.  Usually another craft technique comes along and I gallivant off to have a go at it but maybe for the time being I should just concentrate on one thing at a time.

Contour Change A Page Book

FSC is all about Autumnal Colours this month which the lovely Esther picked as the theme.

I opted not to go for an Autumnal make but just to use the Autumn colours.

Ordered some really fab Seth Apter goodies before I went on my hols and they have been sitting on my desk crying out to be used.

The album below has been made with the Contour Change A Page Die.  What it does is cut out the pages to make an album of your choice.

For the front of the book I used a range of Autumnal colours and inside there are lots of die cut pages, in various types of cardstock, just waiting to be journalled.  Left the rings off to make it easier to take photos.

Paint brushes stamps from Anna Griffin, raindrops  Designs By Ryn the quote from PaperArtsy,  and not forgetting Studio 490 Art Journal Basics.

All other background stamps are from Stampin Up called Timeless Textures.

A Tim Holtz stencil, Speckles was used with molding paste just to add a little texture here and there.

Black Versafine ink was used for some of the stamps and paint was used for the rest.

Entering into the Craft Stamper Challenge which is Anything Goes.

I would love it if you hopped on over to see all the DT’s work as they are simply stunning.  Also don’t forget that the winner of this challenge has $20 to choose anything they like from Flonz’s store.

Join FSC With Beautiful Blooms

FSC is into ‘Beautiful Blooms’ for this month’s challenge which the lovely Claire picked.  My card managed to meander into a very collaged vintage piece all on it’s own.

The beautiful stamped blooms are from a Studio 490 set called ‘Wildflower Art‘.  Fussy cut them before colouring and adding glossy accents.

If you look very closely you will see some torn tea bags on either side of the card which gives it a rather nice tatty feel.

I have Dot to thank for the reminder about tea bags.  She has just started into her tea bag phase which reminded me that I have a box full of dried out tea bags left over from my itty bitty Tea Bag Book  which was made a while back.  Gosh that was 18 months ago and it was also a DT piece for FSC.  Anyways these are now crying out to be used hence the shredded pieces added to the card.

Just one close up pic which shows some of the layered ephemera and stitching.

Sorry about the glare from the flower on the tag but that’s the camera picking up the shine from the glossy accents.

I would love it if you hopped on over to see all the DT’s work as they are simply stunning.  Also don’t forget that the winner of this challenge has $20 to choose anything they like from Flonz’s store.

A Butterfly Time At FSC

FSC this month is having a Butterfly time and the lovely Dot chose the theme for us all, I really hope you will join in this month.

A vibrant and cheerful card just to put me in the mood for Spring.  Went with a yellow, orange and blue colour palette plus I used four stamps to create this piece, they are:

Dina Wakley Silhouetted Women, Studio 490 Original Art, Rangers Wings Quote and Finnabair Butterfly 3.

Shirley 1

The butterflies are all 3D and the top two are flying her into the air.

To get this dimension, first stamp onto your card then re-stamp onto a spare piece of cardstock, cut out and layer over the original stamped image.

Shirley 2

I would love it if you hopped on over to see all the DT’s work as they are simply stunning.  Also don’t forget that the winner of this challenge has $20 to choose anything they like from Flonz’s store.

Art On Her Mind

Masking, stamping and inking was definitely the fun part of this card and even I can’t believe that 2013 was the last time I dusted this little stamp off.  She’s from PaperArtsy called Dolls Plate 1.  The suitcases came from another ancient stamp set and the sentiment is a Wendy Vecchi called Art On Her Mind from Studio 490.

To get the octagonal design in the middle I used the Large Octagon dies from Spellbinders to make the masks.
