FSC Inspirational Piece

For the October challenge at FSC my DT piece was a journal page.

Today my FSC inspirational make for the Time Waits For No Man Challenge is another journal page.

Because the two pages were side by side I soon realised that they were not gelling together.  The monkey side was far to bright and colourful.

No choice for it but to tone the monkey side down a notch or two, good ole white gesso to the rescue.

Scroll to the next post and you’ll see how he looked originally.

Totally happy with the overall toning down, they sit side by side perfectly now.

Used two stamps from the Vintage Time set by Ali Reeve and the Gentleman stamp is from Flonz Crafts.

I never throw anything away that has stamping on it.  Found a teensy bit of ripped tissue paper which had some clock numbers on it, placed this in the middle of the clock for a bit of added interest.

Also amongst my stamped tissue paper castoffs was a top hat which was put onto the ring of the pocket watch and the number 31 around the edge.

You still have until midnight on Saturday, 9th November to enter the FSC challenge so please hop on over as we would love to see what you make.

Winter Trees

Vintage Stamping Challenges is starting their last challenge of 2015 and the lovely Claire chose the theme of ‘Winter Trees’.

I have to say that I really struggled with this one as I didn’t want to make another Christmas card.  I was telling Irene and she said “You know you don’t have to make a Christmas card”.  As simple as that and the problem was solved.

Finally went for an ordinary card with snowcapped trees in the background.  Used a beautiful owl stamp which you can find here or he is also in this set of birds here. The adorable tree is an Art Impressions stamp which I think may be discontinued (bought it in 2007)!!!

Those Seasons Are A Changing

The new challenge at FSC  this month is ‘Changing Seasons’.  Our very own sweet Claire chose the new theme and wow how the design team have really made the catwalk pop with their stunning pieces.

My chosen season is Winter where I decided to bring a little festive cheer with crackers in a box.

Two to be precise, one for him and one for her – but it turned out to be two for her in the end!  To tell the truth I wanted them to look pretty and the man’s cracker I made didn’t do it for me.

3

The crackers were made with a Stampin Up Envelope Board.  They had to be made first so that I could measure them for the box.  Put them side by side so that I could measure the length, width and height.  The lid also has an aperture cut in where acetate was added.

I had a little time to take some before and after pics.

#1 pic  Just a few of the items I started with.

#2 pic  The cardstock all cut out and ready to make the box.  At this stage I did a fine misting of dylusions White Linen Ink all over.

#3 pic  Final stage before putting the box together.  Stamped a mixture of different snowflakes and a sentiment with DecoArt Titanium (Snow) White acrylic paint.  The effect looks amazing.

Revisiting Stamping Techniques At VSC

October already which means a new challenge at Vintage Stamping Challenges where this month’s theme is  ‘Use A Die/Dies’.  The lovely Karen chose it.

My focus at the moment seems to be male cards, there isn’t any particular reason except that I enjoy them … mmmmm is that the cards or the males????

Also having a revisiting of a few stamping techniques that have fallen by the wayside over the years.  The stamping technique used on this particular card is like a negative and positive thingamajig, something I did five years ago (told you it had fallen off the radar).

If you want to take a looky at the older post you are more than welcome to.  When I looked there was quite a whoa moment (well it was five years ago).

No messiness with this card, had a white blouse on so left the inks alone!!! lol

1

Used some Spellbinders Label dies for matting and layering the image plus a movers and shapers globe die for a bit of embellishment.

2

When finished doing this technique you are left with two toppers.

As I had added glossy ascents to the outside of the globe it needed to dry before taking the photo.

Decided to make a tag envelope pocket with all the left over bits and used the second topper for the front.  The glossy ascents still weren’t dry so made two quick little tags to fill the envelope pocket.

The Saturday Class Was ‘All About The Men’

The FSC challenge this month is All About The Men and again I have combined my card with the Saturday class (two birds with one stone and all that)!!!

To enhance the background I dry embossed onto black cardstock, then using the best tool ever … (my own little itsy bitsy index finger) delicately proceeded to spread gilding wax over everything to highlight the clocks.  Next using the same delicate little itsy bitsy index finger (cleaned it first) dipped it into the Gesso pot and lightly feathered it over the edges.

Definitely not a fan of using mirri card but sometimes a piece just cries out for it and this was that time.  Mat and layered it behind the background and also the stamped images.  You can find the handsome suave hunk (George Clooney lookalike) here.

We had a real disruption in the class this week … Crafty Friend Turned Up … and to say it was raucous would be an understatement.  We probably laughed all through the making of each piece and how anyone got anything made is a mystery to me.

Here is the second card they made.  This time there was lots of inking, white embossing and stencilling going on plus the ripping of vellum.

I would love it if you hopped on over to see all the DT’s work as they are simply stunning.  Also don’t forget that the winner of this challenge has $20 to choose anything they like from Flonz’s store.

We have more news for you.

Also starting from today FSC is changing to monthly.  Each challenge will now be starting the second Sunday of the month.

Time to have a look at what I have made for the 100th challenge and what you could possibly win.

As you know I love making kinetic cards and this one is another of those.  When finished it fits into a DL envelope perfectly.  Used the same inks to colour her in as I did on the ladies.

It is a cascading card and is meant to make the Runway stamps look as if they are on a catwalk.  It kinda worked!!!  The front has this glamourous stamp which you can find here, used her on this card here and I loved her so much that I just knew she was going on the front of my make for this challenge.  Used the same inks to colour her in as I did on the stamped ladies.

Very photo heavy but I wanted to try and show the flowing element of the card.  Stood above the piece and took a photo which shows the layers better.

Can you guess why there is not much inking around the edges?  It’s because the girls made this yesterday as their class make.

I can honestly say they loved making it but don’t worry I made sure they didn’t handle it as I wanted no inky smudges to spoil it.

Lastly here are the two back pages.  There is also a blank page behind the Paris image which I left deliberately because whoever wins this I will be writing a little something and signing it.  Good Luck everyone and you have one month so don’t forget to enter this challenge.

Hot Sunny Colours

Cor blimey two posts in one day … what does that tell you peeps … Shirley is behind throwing because of the holiday.

This post comes with a  government health warning to wear your sun glasses as it is certainly hot sunny colours.

Below is my card for the Vintage Stamping Challenges and the theme this month was picked by the lovely Brenda.  I am sure that if she had known what the weather was going to be like she would have picked another theme.  It is blowing a gale here and the rain is soooo cold.

Finally got around to using my Spectrum Noir Aquatint Inks and I think you can guess that these colours are from the Brights set.  Inked the watercolour card first with #15 from the set, stamped the image with black Versafine before adding water to bleach out her skin.  Stamped her again onto patterned paper then cut out the parts I needed to paper piece her.

I picked this stamp here to use on my card from Flonz’s range of beautiful stamps.

I really hope that you can join us for this month’s challenge.  To enter just click Mr Linky at the bottom of the VSC web page and maybe it could be you who wins the $20 from Flonz’s store.

Things With Wings

Fashionable Stamping Challenges this fortnight has a theme of  ‘Things With Wings’    My lovely teamie sister Avril chose this very popular theme.

Another storage box for my craft room, this one is going to house some of my stamps, actually the Crafty Individuals ones fit it perfectly.

Bought an MDF storage kit from Stamps Away at Ally Pally it came in a pack of four very very cheap.  I have made them all up and painted each with black gesso but this is the first I have finished completely.

Box 1

Embossed some cardstock which I used to cover the inside and painted with black gesso before adding some White Fire Treasured Gold gilding wax.  Also added the same to the edges.

Stamps used are from Flonz Crafts, Stampers Anonymous and Artistic Outpost.

VSC Goes All Flowery

Vintage Stamping Challenges has a challenge theme this month of ‘Handmade Flowers’.  Irene chose this popular theme and I am sure we are going to see some lovely makes with handmade flowers.

When I saw the challenge theme I just knew that I only wanted one flower to be the focal point on my card and I think you will agree that it definitely is.

Used two stamps from Flonz’s range of beautiful stamps which you can find here and here, one stamped on card and the other a book page.

I really hope that you can join us for this month’s challenge.  To enter just click Mr Linky at the bottom of the VSC web page and maybe it could be you who wins the $20 from Flonz’s store.

FSC And Jumbo Toilet Roll Storage For Lauren

Fashionable Stamping Challenges this fortnight have a theme of  “Sew What” (all about the sewing) which was picked by the lovely Claire.

‘OMG’ I am so ashamed to say that I am addicted to jumbo toilet roll holders, see my first post here.  Well it’s just my latest fad really, recycling them into receptacles for anything you like.

I am using mine at the moment for storage of utensils on my desk (don’t even ask how many I have got on the desk.  Just waiting to take a photo of the one I made for Andrew’s desk at work.  With a little imagination you can turn them into beautiful plant pot holders.  Remember to line with a little plastic bag or place the plant pot into a plastic bag so that you can add water.  The diameter of these jumbo rolls are 3¼ inches across and the depth is 3½ inches.

Both my granddaughters have taken after me with their crafty ways.  Amber is the artist in the family she loves anything to do with paints and Lauren is the sewer.  I used to sew for England once upon a time.  Clothes, curtains, cushions, quilts anything that was to do with material was my thing.

I have made this storage holder for Lauren so she can store all her little bits and bobs.  The adorable girly stamp you can find here from Flonz’s store and the little scissor stamp is an Indigo Blu here.  The dress form stamp is from Stampin Up.

I am not sure she will like this as anything vintage, aged and distressed is not her thing but if not then Mummy will probably find a use for it.

I would love it if you hopped on over to see all the DT’s work as they are simply stunning.  Also don’t forget that the winner of this challenge has $20 to choose anything they like from Flonz’s store.
