Very Polite And Olde Worlde At VSC

Vintage Stamping Challenges has a challenge theme this month of ‘Olde Worlde’.  This means we would love to see whatever floats your boat with old or Victoriana.   I am sure my grandchildren think Andrew and myself are ‘Olde Worlde’ … positively ancient looking in their eyes.

Christine picked the theme for this month and I went with an extremely polite looking gentleman’s card where they are taking their dogs for a stroll.  Don’t you just love the hats and the way they used to doff them at each other as they passed.

Hasn’t anyone told that dog that it’s bad to smoke!!!!

You can find the stamps used from Flonzcrafts here.  More scrummy close up pics of the background stamping, inking, stencilling and masking off.  Used a sentiment which came from the Studio 490 set of stamps.

New Year, New Stash At VSC

Happy New Year to each and every one of you and welcome to my first project of 2015 which also happens to be the first challenge at VSC.

Vintage Stamping Challenges has a challenge theme this month of New Year, New Stash.  This means you can make anything with all that new stash you received over Christmas.

This is one of those projects that I had no idea where it was going until the very end.  I can never be accused of over thinking my makes because each one just takes on a life of it’s own along the way.  This one is designed along the lines of a matchbox and has three tags inside which hang freely when opened.  The front has a stamped tissue paper image which I lightly coloured.

The first two pics shows the box and the sides, the next two is when the inside is pulled open revealing a stamped eye image.

When the drawer is opened everything slides out and lays flat.  This is where my imagination went into overdrive and I used the Ticket Strip die to attach the tags.

Below you can see how the tags swing freely and all the detail of the stamping.

Each tag has some amazing stamped images from Flonzcrafts on them plus each has been lightly coloured.

Flimsy & Delicate But Very Beautiful

If it wasn’t for Andrew, the making of this flimsy and very delicate teensy weensy ‘Tea Bag Book’ could not have been possible.  Not being typically English of me but I have never formed a relationship with tea.  (Really can’t stand the stuff.)  I’m a REAL coffee drinker kinda gal, black and no sugar but if out for coffee and cake with friends then it’s a large LATTE with Starbucks being my fave.  None of your ole instant for this baby.

Fashionable Stamping Challenges this fortnight have a theme of  “Heat It Up” which was picked by the lovely ‘Mrs B … as you know it’s Avril to you and me.

She looks really fed up but  I love this image which is why I decided to add her to the front of the album.  Left the back rather plain as there is so much going on elsewhere.

Andrew probably only drinks one cup of tea a day, so collecting used tea bags has been a struggle for me … he forgets to keep the used bag!!!!  Finally managed to dry out a few so this little book could see the light of day.

1st pic shows the used t-bags (dried) but with the tea emptied out.  2nd, details the stamping and embossing.  3rd, is where I have added an extra piece of paper onto the edge of the bags.  Because of the flimsiness of the bags I had to find something which wasn’t very heavy and a light manilla envelope was perfect for this.  Also distressed over with DI Vintage Photo.  4th, the reverse side of the bag where I have collaged some tiny images mainly from one of Tim Holtz collections.

1234

1st pic shows some unused t-bags which I wanted to alter into little tags that fitted inside the square t-bags.  I had to open each bag individually, pour out the tea then flatten ready to make the tags.  2nd is the made up tags which had some stamped card fitted inside.  How this was done was to stamp and emboss some sentiments and quotes onto the card then these were placed inside the white tissue-like paper bag.  Again because it is only like a tissue paper you have to work very carefully with the materials.  Sealed the end with a Spellbinders cut down tag die .

More and more pics, this time with the album put together and displayed in all it’s glory.

Just about near the end of the photo showing and I really hope you enjoy looking at this album as much as I enjoyed making.

VSC Wants To See A Christmas Song

Vintage Stamping Challenges has a Christmas Song challenge theme this month.  This means you can make anything as long as it has a Christmas song or carol.

The stamp I chose from Flonzcrafts, which you can find here, is called’ Mother Reading Book For Children’ which fitted in just nicely.  Coloured mainly with DI’s  – Peeled Paint and Barn Door but also added a white hi-lighter pen and coloured pencils.  Ripped a piece of  G45 paper from the ‘Twelve Days Of Christmas’  collection and the other paper was from my stash.

I can so remember myself sitting on the sofa, when my boys were younger, and reading to them just as this mother is doing.  What an age ago that was but how happy the memories make me feel.

Winter Wonderland At FSC

I have had such a fabulous month that there just wasn’t enough time left for crafting and blogging.

The family have been over for a 10 day holiday (four adults and three grandkids) – wow, full house!

Remember the saying … ‘can’t see the woods for the trees’, well that’s what my craft room was like … ‘can’t see the room for the craft stuff’ …  Not Any More

Whilst my son was here he revamped my craft room.  All new work tops have been added along three walls and new shelving.  All I can say is what a transformation.  Everything was taken out and not so much was put back in.  Still having a tidy up but when finished I will bore you with photos.

The month wasn’t finished there, Andrew and I took ourselves off to the UK for a well earned break.  All refreshed and ready for my birthday this weekend then I can start thinking about Christmas.

In the meantime Fashionable Stamping Challenges this fortnight have a theme of  “Winter Wonderland” which was picked by my fabby teamie sister Dani.

Loads of different techniques used but my fave has to be the over embossing in white.

3245

Used this stamp here, Gibson Lovers, as I thought the image on this card needed to be soft and romantic to fit in with the winter wonderland colour scheme I chose.

I would love it if you hopped on over to see all the DT’s work as they are simply stunning.  Also don’t forget that the winner of this challenge has $20 to choose anything they like from Flonz’s store.

Just Go Wherever It Takes You

Vintage Stamping Challenges has a colour challenge theme this month of Orange, Purple, Black, Red and Green.  You can pick any one of these colours or all of them if you wish.  This is my DT piece for the challenge and I chose to use Orange, Black, Red and Purple as my main colours.

This definitely didn’t start out as a Christmas card but as you can see that is what it ended up being.

Way to early for me to be thinking about the little red fat man but as I was starting the background for some reason snow and Christmas popped into my head.  Well that was it everything just snowballed from there. lol!!

Here is a close up pic of the boy on his sledge …cute or what.  You can find him here and the lady is here.

Scottish Vote

Sadly my Mum passed away 14 years ago and even though she married an Englishman and lived in England for most of her life she was a Scot through and through.  Two of my brothers were born in Scotland and I can remember many nostalgic summer holidays on the banks of Loch Lomond with my Granddad and cousins.  If Mum were alive today I definitely know which way she would have voted in the Scottish referendum!!!!

This is my Mum with two of my brothers,Robert and David.  Mum was extremely beautiful and had the most luxurious thick curly hair.  My granddaughter Amber has inherited her Great Grandmothers pretty looks and also her thick curly hair.

Fashionable Stamping Challenges this fortnight have a theme of  “Trees In Autumn Colours”.

The background of trees is from Stampin Up called – Lovely As A Tree and the adorable young lady reading is from Flonzcrafts here.  Coloured her with copics and used black and white gesso for the hair.  She is also sitting on a bed of distress powders.  Stamped the leaves from the SU French Foliage and cut out before sprinkling with the  effect powders.  Used G45 papers for the background.

Used Tim Holtz  distress effect powders then I found that CC3C has a challenge for these.  Inspiration Emporium

Entering For: Compendium Of Curiosities 3, Challenge II – Effect Powders Technique which can be found on Page 52 of his book.  You can also see all the details of how to enter.  Sponsors for the challenge are: Inspiration Emporium.  Better get my skates on as I have to hop on over to leave each of the Curiosity Crew a bit of love for all their inspirational work.

Not sure if my entry will count as I am ashamed to say that I bought my Distress Powders quite a few years ago and the ones I used on this card had never even been opened.  I did check and he still has these colours which I used.  Frayed Burlap, Spiced Marmalade, Broken China, Scattered Straw and Aged Mahogany.

An Anything Goes Album For VSC

Vintage Stamping Challenges has an Anything Goes challenge theme this month.  This is my DT piece for the challenge an anything you want to put in it album.

Made this a few months ago but only just finished because I had trouble getting wooden beads for it.  A very good friend called Maria gave me a packet at my class last week.  Thank you Maria x x

Another reason why it was never finished was because I didn’t have any matching ribbon to thread the beads through.  Whilst on holiday I took the album with me to see if I could match some ribbon.  A fabulous lady called Sue from Stampy Sue gave me some ribbon which matched everything perfectly.  Thanks Sue x x

Should really call this my freebie album!!!

The beads are threaded through the ribbon and used as separators, this way you can add very dimensional elements.  The stamps on the front are from Inkadinkadoo called Bottle Row.

When Dot and I Skype we show each other our makes and she loved the stamps used on this album.  So I told her where I bought them and she got some as well.  Forgot to take a photo of the side because I used the single bottle but you can see what it looks like by seeing what Dot has made with it here.

Love making albums because I can use so many techniques and add them to each page.  The little birdcage die was triple embossed with red embossing powder then some silver guilding wax added.  The same page had loads of stamping, colouring, inking and stencilling added to it.  You can just see the beads on the side of the pic.

Flowers1Flowers2Flowers3Flowers4

On the second pic below the image of the whispering ladies was printed onto tissue paper and added with Mod Podge.  The last page has two stamped images from Flonzcrafts which you can find here.  There are three large tags inserted into the side edges of the pages.

He Looks Too Good To Be True

Vintage Stamping Challenges has a Summer Days challenge theme this month which was our lovely teamie sister Claire’s choice.

This is my DT piece for the challenge a Summer Album.  The hunky man on the front is a stamp from Flonzcrafts which I gently coloured with distress markers.  I say gently because it was stamped onto a very flimsy cream paper lace doily which is from the Docrafts range.  Masked him off then added dimensional paste through a TH stencil called Burlap.  Added some Worn Lipstick ink then topped off with gilding wax called Rose Quartz.  It has given the paste such a polished lustre which you can only see in real life.  Papers used are from a Prima pad called Stationer’s Desk.

Summer Album 1Summer Album 2

My inside cover page of the album has a stamped border of roses which were inked with  Black Versafine then coloured in with Faber Castelle watercolour pencils.  The woman painter was also coloured the same way, you can find her here.  The same ink pad was used for the quote before framing and cutting out.

Six envelopes were used to make this album with the stacking binding system.  Another of Flonzcrafts stamps was used for the back of the album which is here.

Door Hanger For Lauren

Firstly I want to say thanks a million for all your lovely comments on my posts whilst I have been away on holiday.  All this week will be spent hopping around to your blogs seeing what I have missed and also to leave you some hugs and love.

Fashionable Stamping Challenges this fortnight have a terrific theme of  “Child’s Play” which was picked by our wonderful DT sister Esther.

This is my first time of making a door hanger and it will be hanging on my craft room door until my granddaughter Lauren comes over, if she likes it it’s hers.  Amber is very arty and uses lots of paints with her work but Lauren, who is eleven, loves anything to do with needlework.

Used a few stamped images but the main is from Flonzcrafts called “Girls Sewing” which you can find here.  Used my watercolour pencils from Faber Castelle for the colouring in of the image.  The other stamps are from Stamping Up called Established Elegance.
