Mirror Mirror In My Hand Who’s The Fairest In The Land

Off on my hols tonight … Portugal here I come.
Just one problem … who on earth would want to leave the UK and Ireland when we are having weather like this.
Trouble is you have to book these holidays early otherwise the prices just keep going up and up and unfortunately the UK/Irish weather is so unpredictable!!!

Whatever, still going to enjoy myself and long may this hot season last … tee hee can you tell I’m a sun worshiper!!

Mirror mirror in my hand who’s the fairest in the land … meeeeeee she says!!! … I know it should say on the wall … but it didn’t rhyme lol.

Had another playday yesterday with a wonderful friend and crafting buddy, three guesses what I made … you only need one I hear you say … It’s An Album yayyyy!!!

This album was made with envelopes and has the tags slotted into the top.
All the tags have been tied together so that over the years when people look at them they won’t get lost.

This also means that you can look at the first and last pages but you have to remove the tags to see the rest of the album.

The image on the front is from the Graphic 45 Le Romantique Collection.
Picked an image then fussy cut around before adding the skirt.
The skirt was made by cutting some beige linen into a square with my Fiskars Pinking Shears, stitched on two small pieces of left over lace. Did a small running stitch on one of the edges then pulled to make a gather. Added to the image then made a wool bow for some extra trim.

For the background papers of the album I used the Pirma A4 Nature Garden Collection … soooo pretty.

Mirror MirrorMirror Mirror1

Not sure about the make of the frame stamp used on the tag … think it’s a Stampendous background but totally not sure. The leaves which were added around the edge is an Art Impressions Small Vine.

I had a day … way back whence … when I printed off lots of different images. Some on tissue paper, card, flimsy paper, coloured paper, water coloured paper anyway lots of different weights and mediums which I added to one of my many bit boxes. It is so handy to go to this box and pick an image for whatever particular project I am making.

The image below was already printed onto tissue paper, ripped and ready to go when needed … this is the time she was needed folks.
You can’t really see it but there are six tags in total, five left plain so that photos can be matted and layered onto them.

Owl Always Love You

Phew how lucky am I, just spent 10 days at Rhyl in the North of Wales with a crafting buddy of mine who has a mobile home there.

We arranged the holiday months and months ago and it was supposed to be a crafting retreat for both of us. Well as you can imagine we have had wall to wall sunshine which was hot, hot and more hot. No I am not complaining about the weather but because it was so hot we spent more time going to different sea-sides than we did crafting. So very little to show but at least I got my son and DIL’s Wedding Anniversary album completed. They have been married 20 years on Wednesday, 17th July which makes me feel really ancient now.

Lucky enough for me the album fits in with the theme of the challenge over at Fashionable Stamping which is Flora & Fauna.
This means anything flowery or anything with animals.

How sweet does the front of the album look with that huge hand made flower and the two die cut owls. Papers used are Graphic 45 Steampunk Debutante.

The inside has a beautiful stamped image from Inkylicious which I water coloured with DI inks. The following page also has a handmade flower on it.
When you turn to the next two pages I embossed some cardstock with a postcard embossing folder then stamped a gorgeous image from one of Flonz Crafts which you can find here. Next to it is some tissue paper and below is a stamped sentiment.

Vintage Stamping Want To See Pretty In Pink

Another month has just flown by which means we have a new challenge for you at

Vintage Stamping Challenges

For this new challenge we would love to see anything pink.

Pretty In Pink

Now this challenge was right up my street I adore anything pink. The card I am showing is a commissioned card and the theme was … her name, age of 16 and “Golf”!!! The golf really stumped me because all I had was stuff for men. Lucky enough I went to Flonz’s Store and found exactly what I wanted. You can find the stamps I used here and here.

FSC Meets Find Your Wings & Fly Album

Sunday and we all know what that means: Fashionable Stamping Time

This fortnight we want to see anything to do with … Mail Time.

You have had the quirky now it’s the gentlemen part of the album … see told you not a bit feminine or girly.
Stamped onto a black mat … which slots into a pocket … with the Penny Black Postcard stamp. Used Versamark for the ink then gold embossed.

Another little flap opens and inside I stamped the Owl from Flonzcrafts which you can find here … reminded me of Harry Potter’s owl called hedwig who used to deliver him letters. You can just see another Penny Black sentiment stamp.

When the mat is removed you can see the cut out playing card and also another stamped sentiment. The gentleman is another stamp from Flonzcrafts here.

The other side to this page has another mat slotted into a pocket. Just love the man on the Penny Farthing bike … but the cycling looks too much like hard work.

First Page Of Find Your Wings & Fly Album

Yesterday I showed the front of an album which I am in the middle of making. Today you can see the first and second pages.

01

This album has lots of flipsy flopsy pockets and in a few of them I have added black mats which have been stamped with gold embossing powder. Left the other side plain ready for photos to be added.

This pic shows the underneath when the mat is taken out. Fussy cut the umbrella from one of the pages and added to the bird also did a bit of colouring as they looked too neat.

Sorry girls there is more to show tomorrow x x

Find Your Wings & Fly

This is the album I started at Crafty Queens on Sunday, really only got the shell completed … too much nattering and eating going on … so, as per usual, had to finish at home.

The papers we used are from My Mind’s Eye … Find Your Wings & Fly which are totally gorgeous but I would probably not have chosen them for myself.

The beauty of going to someone else’s workshop is that you get to work on things that takes you completely out of your comfort zone. This was definitely a challenge for me as you will see when I start to show you more of the completed project. No pretty ladies to be seen anywhere, it is more of a quirky album with a gentleman theme to it!!!

Eve made her album with six ring holes and I made mine with nine. Used those lovely quirky cat stamps which are totally pretty, love them.

More tomorrow!!!

Back To Show – It’s A Hoot

Well yesterday was an amazing day with Eve from Crafty Queens it was so relaxing and the album we created is gorgeous.
Not finished as usual because I like to put my own finishing touches to it but trust me you will love it. Eve is a wonderful person so bubbly and full of energy she makes everyone feel so welcome.

Kate had her shop there Create With Kate and everything was crafting heaven.

Right let’s get onto my It’s A Hoot album

All was covered with a coat of gesso then used the Imagination Crafts Moonlight Owl stencil with a paste which I acquired from a Lidl’s food store (so cheap and very good). Next step was to cover with Antique Linen distress stain, Tattered Angels Glimmer Glaze before adding a coloured gilding wax. The egg stamps are from Stampin Ups Nature Walk.

The inside page has been covered with paper for a little contrast but I painted the glaze over the edges of the die and the stamped images. The images are from Nicecrane Designs.

Next page has been created very similar to the front but I used the Mini Art Is stencil from TCW for the background. The die is Chesapeake Circle from Memory Box which I cut twice then overlayed one onto the other. Added gauze over the top but it obscured the image so I made a cut across the middle and pulled back. Covered her and the clock with a coat of glossy accents.

The lady on the edge is the envelope flap from the next page which looks better left open.

Owl11

Made an envelope pocket on this page which I have added a Fat Face tag .
How sweet is my grandson Alex he saved it for me when he took it off a T/Shirt he bought. He knew I would use it for my crafting … awwww. Slotted it behind the stamped vintage pram. More stenciling with a Tando Creative Mask: Leaves Set 2. Lastly used a script stamp onto material then over stamped with the lady.

Phew long post for me. Tee hee … what am I like … getting bored now with telling everything I did so if there is anything you want to know just mail and I will get back to you.

Something New At FSC

Something New at Fashionable Stamping Challenges this fortnight.

My new for the challenge is the Origami Leaf Pocket which I am mad about. You can find instructions on how to make it HERE.

Two of my tags have been cut from foam, the one with the girl image and the wasp image. I heated the foam first before stamping into it with black Staz-On ink. This then leaves a deep indented impression which is very dimensional.

So Aloof At FSC

Made another inspirational tag for Fashionable Stamping Challenges seeings as how the last one was a joint effort and not really all my own work.

This tag came about because I had a play day yesterday with Pat and I was showing her how to use the melting pot.

I first cut out the beautiful image and Mod Podged her onto a chip board tag which I cut out with the Tim Holtz Tag & Bookplates Die. No Gessoing or painting I left everything plain. Then came the fun bit, melted clear UTE with Cosmic Shimmer Lapis Black UTE then poured and swirled over the edge of the image. Whilst still molten I stamped into it with a Melt Art Textured Tread – Scattered Leaves. All I can say is wow they really work. Such a deep impression my only regret is that I only bought one of the Textured Treads. Didn’t really know how good they were so one was my limit in case I didn’t like them. How wrong can a gal get!!! Hand stitched along her bonnet and added a few of my fave French knots.
