That’s nearly it for 2016, never to be seen again.
Ahhh but the memories remain and I really hope that 2016 has left you with some good ones.
On this very special day of the year my memories always return to my Mum and Dad and a family tradition that we used to follow.
Mum being Scottish and very traditional we had to call the last day of the year Hogmanay. My fondest memory of this day is ‘First Footing’.
Just before midnight mum would shove dad out the door with a lump of coal in his hand (plus various other items) only letting him back in when New Year had struck. Although we all laughed at the time because it seemed so silly I really do miss doing this.
For my last post of the year I am showing one favourite make from each month of 2016 starting with January.
January – February – March
April – May – June
July – August – September
October – November – December

Fabulous post, Shirl – it’s great to get a chance to see some of your lovely work from this year, given I’ve missed so much along the way too. Colour, stamping and layers – all beautifully done. I hope you’re enjoying these festive days, and here’s wishing you and yours a peaceful 2017.

A lovely colourful selection of your work Shirley, and all very varied showing off your talent.
I have the same fond memories of my Dad first-footing and always with his piece of coal – happy days!

Happy New Year Shirley! Your 12 month of artwork is beautiful and yes I can see you like colour, I have to say that I do too 🙂 Wishing you all the best for 2017! Shirleyxx
What a great year of artwork here Shirley, I really enjoyed this post and never forget those memories – they are personal and they are precious. I look forward to seeing your artwork and inspiration from it through 2017 – Happy New Year! Leanne xx
I’ve done a similar exercise and find that I have been heavily into more CAS projects than Mixed Media. I wonder if it’ll carry on in 2017 or will I swing back to the more painty/messy/grungy style…
Love your selection Shirley! Happy New Year C. xx
What a beautiful journey 2016 has been for you!!! It’s great to look back and remember what you have done during the year. There are so many different pieces here, all of which make me smile. I think if someone shoved me out the door before midnight I would like a nice bottle of wine instead of a lump of coal lol…what a great tradition and memory!
