Nearly There

I love a bit of humour in my cards and the new image from Little Miss Muffet Stamps lends itself to that.
I chose to use Hope because I think all us girlies can relate to her. Check out those scales she’s standing on … wish that was my weight. 😀

Stamped and embossed both the dress and dress form onto matching paper – Stampendous Spring Fling and Girls Paperie by Margie Clear Stamps. Flower from this set also but stamped with TH Fired Brick as was the post card from SU, inked around edges with same. Don’t you just hate it when the light reflects off the embossing and makes it look sparkly – yuk.

Lots of new releases this week and the DT girlies have really made some gorgeous inspiration for you to look at here. Still time to enter the challenge for this fortnight which is Simplicity.

Times Gone By

Over at Fashionable Stamping Challenges this fortnight the theme is

Times Gone By

I am sure this is everyone’s fave theme for stamping as it allows you to make virtually anything you like. Dot has added lots of info for your inspiration which led me to put a little info of my own below.

I chose to show you the last two pages of an album I have made which shows two pics on tags … one of a much younger Andrew in fancy dress with his mates and one of Andrew’s Dad (Tom) sitting on the lap of his parents.

Also want to bore you with a little piece about Andrew’s Dad who sadly isn’t with us any more but can you believe the family only learnt this piece of info at his funeral.

Tom’s mum married a Canadian but he went back to Canada without her and she followed later.
She booked her passage to Canada to be with her husband but at the last minute she couldn’t go because she became ill so she cancelled and booked another passage for later.

Thank goodness she did her first voyage would have been on the …

TITANIC which sank on 15th April 1912 – can imagine what would have happened … no Tom … no Andrew.

Anyway she eventually made it to Canada and into the arms of her husband, as you can guess, Tom was born in 1913.
The First World War broke out and Tom’s dad had to go and do his bit, that left Tom’s mother all alone in Canada so she decided to book a passage home to England and take Tom with her.

Can you believe what happened she broke her arm so could not make the crossing so again she cancelled and made another booking for later.

Wait for it … can you guess what was the name of the ocean liner she cancelled to go home on …

LUCITANIA – which was torpedoed and sank on 7th May 1915 – again can you imagine … no Tom … no Andrew.
How amazing was that, Andrew’s grandmother was definitely meant to be on this earth and here is the pic of Tom with his parents … awww

You really must take a peak at all the Design Teams pieces they are truly inspirational

Coffee Time

Coffee break at Fashionable Stamping Challenges and giving you a chance to have a sneak peak at what we Fashionettes drink.

Taking a little break myself next week, hopping on over to the UK to see all the family … and to watch lil ole Aldershot play Manchester United. My card has been made for my SIL Irene because while home we will be having crafting play days with lots of coffee … yahoo.

Really went to town and used lots of stamps for this card …

Anything But A Card

This fortnight at Fashionable Stamping Challenges we want to see

ANYTHING BUT A CARD

My project is this pizza box I have made with a shaker lid and inside I made a post it note book.

Have given the see through acetate lid … the “Woman’s Face” is stamped with StazOn black ink … a double layer of acetate so the micro beads cling and form pretty patterns. Inked the edges with TH Victorian Velvet then used it on various stamps which I randomly used for the background paper and lady also added some very pretty lace and beads Stamped and inked the post it note book to match.

Don’t you just love it when you get a huge laugh out of the project you have just made, well that is what happened with the above.

Borrowed the woman’s face stamp from a friend … should have thought it through though … because I added the shaker piece to the box last it wasn’t until I opened it that I realized you look at her face upside down when opened!!!! … made me laugh … 😛 Moral to this story – look before you leap stamp 😳

Please please pop along to see all the other DT’s creations they are totally out of this world.

Footnote: … My Pizza box was made with the Hougie Board – I saw the demonstration on Create & Craft, but here is a link for a tutorial on how to make a Pizza Box

Tag For FSC

Still here in the UK, should have sailed home on Monday but with all those gale force winds I seriously didn’t fancy it so will be sailing home on Thursday instead.

Missed both my DT postings last week for Little Miss Muffet and Digi Doodle Shop Challenges. Can you believe I brought my camera with me but not the computer leads … grrrr.

Borrowed Clare’s camera and managed to take a pic of my Fashionable Stamping Tag which is this fortnights challenge. Made a box for the tag to fit into, got the info from Joanna and the box tutorial is here (found the scoring measurements a bit confusing) but worked it out by the pictures.

Fashionable Stamping Challenges

My first DT card and still on cloud nine about the new challenge blog
Fashionable Stamping Challenges

Our first challenge is ANYTHING GOES

Just don’t get to do enough stamping and inking like I used to, so, this is one happy bunny, that we have all started this venture.

For my card I actually got the brayer out which I have not used in … well forever … also used a stamp which hasn’t seen the light of day … probably since I bought it.

Used the Big & Juicy ink pad called Hydrangea, stamped and embossed the image onto white glossy card with white embossing powder, then brayered, even did some quilling. Decided on quite a simple card but very elegant looking … me thinks the dress looks just like a fashion model would wear. Found a beautiful piece of lace which I put behind the nestie frame.

Time to hop on over to see all the Teemies cards … where they get there inspiration from is beyond me!!!

Bet you want to know what you can win if you enter, well here it is, two stamps.
