Owls Well

010049

Woo-hoo internet connection is back and can post cards again.

The little owl was a freebie from my stamping magazine a while ago and the larger is from a Dawn Bibby set. I stamped and embossed both images onto purple pearl paper and then cut out. Picked co-ordinating papers (which are a digi download from Pink Petticoat) and put through a MS punch. Made a flower with some ribbon and added a paper flower plus brad in the centre. Punched out some leaves and made a bow with another matching ribbon.

Another card bites the dust as my granddaughter has asked me to bring cards home with me on Wednesday because lots of her friends have birthdays in March… including hers.

Tilda

010045

Entering this easel card for Die Cuts r us Challenge which is to make a project inspired by the colours in the DCRU image. Have to say I just love these colours and making this card was such a pleasure.

Papers used are all from Pink Petticoat a lovely digi download shop which I found a long time ago and can’t get enough of them, I can always find a colour match for my projects.

Also for the Just Magnolia Special Monthly Challenge paper pleating, which I love and there is a fabulous tutorial by Mina.

Tilda was coloured with Copics and Pro Markers then sat her on two nesties. I stitched the paper pleating with a scalloped stitch to hold it all together. Have to say my dressmaking comes in handy at times like this but it is much easier with material than paper. Lots of matting and layering with pleating, scallops and ribbon. MS punch was used for the pleating edges and the waste pleats were added to the bottom of the card.

Stamping up punches and sentiment, along with an art impressions stamp at the top of the card, flowers, brads, gems and dew drops were all added to make Tilda look oh so pretty.

I opened the card out full length and took a picture to show you how pretty the colours are.020008010046

Knitting Daisy May

010044

Wow we are really getting the white stuff this year. Grandkids rang this morning sooo excited because their school is closed and Daddy is also home so they are all going sledging this morning…. oh to be young again and have all that youthful energy…. no way back to my cards.

Patricia is going to love this one as she is into her knitting at the moment. I have also picked up the needles again, first time in…. can’t remember moving on.

Another CDM image …. what am I like, can’t resist her at the moment.

Entering her for both these challenges:

Creative Card Crew Challenge # 42 – Distressing

My Time To Craft Challenge # 73 – Blue & Brown.

Used so many colouring items on her – Copics, Promarkers (which P has lent me to see if I like using them) and distressing inks. Used another fancy stitch for the paper, flowers, baubles and tassels all from stash. Really into the tassles at the moment.

Skip into Spring with Daisy May

010042

This card sings…. Spring to me.

Hope you have all popped over to Daisy May Digi Stamps to collect your freebie.

This card has been made for a very special person’s birthday, will be putting a name and sentiment on the card later.

Linnie has written on her blog – Fill her basket with your choice of embellies … which I did … flowers, flowers and more flowers … This has given the card a lot of height so I am in the process of making a box that matches the card, will post when done.

Because Daisy May is looking behind her my interpretation of the image was … something falling out of her basket. She has been coloured with both Pro Markers and water colour pencils. Cut her out with a nestie frame (scalloped edge one) then cut out another frame with DP, cut off the scallops and edged around the image. Matted and layered her. Used a MS deep edge punch – floral vine, which at the moment is one of my favourites. Picked a scalloped and a straight stitch for the papers which are all from K & Co, lace flowers and jewelled brad from stash.

Holly

010041

Had some Basic Grey – Indian Summer – papers on my desk and was looking for a digi image on the computer when I came across these Holly and Madison images which I bought a while ago.

They come as black and white or already coloured. This is Holly already coloured and she matched the papers quite well.

Rolled the edges of the paper and printed the image onto white card I then cut out with a nestie, inked the edges with Rangers ink – mustard seed. Added a bit of extra definition to her belt, coloured in with a Sakura black glaze pen. Her boots and flowers also have glaze on them. Stitched black beads around the corner and coloured in a path then stamped little cobble stones all over.

The black trellis work was left over from my last card, black lace, black and burgundy flowers and blue brads all from stash. Sentiment from Stamping Up, the little flower coloured in with a Sakura red glaze pen.

Next card will have a spring feel because the last two are still in winter mode judging by the colours.

New Love

010040

Can you Adam and Eve it I have just broken my New Years Resolution ….. Decided not to make the usual this year (diet, spend less money etc) – I’m sure you all get the picture …. my resolution was …. to start using less of the digital download papers and use more from my stash. I have DT papers all over the house (especially K & Co and Basic Grey just love them) but I bring them out, stroke, look and then put away again (sure I’m not the only one).

My first card for 2010 is for all these challenges:

Fussy and Fancy Friday Challenge New

Lily-Boo Too Challenge Blog Valentine

Secret Crafter Saturday Challenge #64 New Beginnings

Rainbow Lady’s Challenge # 84 New

By the Cute and Girly – New

Crafty Ann’s Challenge #5 – New

Cute Daisy May ChallengeLove

The image is from Cute Daisy May Digi Stamps download, (by the way if you hop over now there is a New Year freebie up for grabs and she is gorgeous – please please please don’t forget to come back).

So far, this part OK, resolution still intact. The next part is where it gets broken….. wanted to use the colours of the Fussy and Fancy Blog….. can you believe it, after hunting ages through my stash could not find the bubble pinky papers I wanted. Hence went back to good old favourite Pink Petticoat. Quickest time I can remember for me to break my resolution….. ah well, get to keep my stash.

Printed image and then cut out with a cookie cutter, used my water colours pencils to colour. Got to use two of my new MS punches. Punched out two hearts and added a nestie label which I put through the printer to add the sentiment. Flowers, bauble and cord all from stash.

Whimsical Dreams

010039

This will be my last challenge card for 2009 and I am entering this card for the Sweet Stamping Up # 6 Challenge.

Following a sketch this time and the prize for this are some really lovely goodies from Stamping Up.

She’s a really sweet image from Stamping up and I think they have or are retiring her which is a shame because she’s a cutie. Also used the punches and sentiment from the same company.

Cut out the image with a nestie, inked the edges and then coloured her in with my new Faber-Castell water colour pencils. It was a milestone birthday this year and Andrew bought be the complete set in a box and it’s the first time they have seen the light of day, they looked too good to use. Added a MS shell border to the papers then stitched onto card. Not usually a peel off person but thought she needed a bit of a lift so edged the paper with silver borders. Ribbon from my stash.

I think she really reflects the end of 2009.Shirl

Happy New Year Everyone

Andrew, Penny and I would love to wish you all a healthy and Happy New Year also a huge thank you to everyone for making me feel so welcome in the very short time I have been blogging. I appreciate each and everyone of your visits and comments but even more so because I know how precious time is. I am really looking forward to 2010 with more crafting, hints, tips and making lots more new friends.

Don’t you just love New Years Eve it is so exciting, everybody just seems so happy. My mother was Scottish and the New Year for her was even better than Christmas. I can remember her shoving my dad out of the front door (with a lump of coal in his hand) just before the stroke of midnight so that he could do first first footing. Not sure if anyone does this anymore (might just try it with Andrew tonight).

Anyway a little bit of fun…. check this out because apparently Kiritimati – Christmas Island – is the first inhabited place on Earth to experience the New Year.

Have fun and take care tonight everyone

because I want to see you all in….

Easel Calendar

010038

What a day we had yesterday – no internet connection or e-mail for the whole day or night…. and sad to say I missed it. Card pictures not too good the storms made the light impossible (not taking them again).

Found these lovely papers called Golden Harvest on a digi web site – the Digichick aren’t they just fabulous. Also to buy with the set was the 2010 calendar papers.

Copied and pasted the monthly calendar into a word document and downsized so they would fit onto the card. After printing, they were all cut to the same size and stitched together so that the months when finished can be torn off easier.

Matching flowers were cut from the paper and put on the sides of the card and used a Fiskars punch to make edging strips. Two pieces of matching looped ribbon were added to the centre of each large flower – brads, ribbon and beads all from stash.

010037

Bit time consuming to make but well worth the effort. Can see me making more and giving to friends as little gifts.

Entering into two challenges with this card

Little Miss Watercolour

010035

Two posts in one day, it’s like waiting for a bus nothing there for ages and then two come at once. Will be back later to add more but have to put dinner on first.

Two dinners later…. Isn’t she just adorable….. stamped image is from Art Impressions and I very delicately watercoloured her with pencils, inked the edges and added faux stitching.

Two rows of a very pretty stitch was added around the paper and with a small pair of decoupage scissors I cut very closely to the first row of stitches.

Really pleased with how the tassels look and when I added the pink beads it just transformed them.

Flowers and brads from my stash and the sentiment is from Stamping up.

I am entering her for Lexi’s Creations 4th Challenge …. it’s to make a Pastel card.
