Blog Land Thank You

010034

Well girls I am going to come clean…. I started this blog three months ago and it was purely out of boredom. Had seen blogs but I just wasn’t interested (fool).

After an operation on my finger I was told no driving for 3 months!!! Then the – feeling sorry for myself – kicked in…. all my family in the UK and here I am stuck way out in the country and not even on a bus route.

Started surfing the web and really had time to look at blog land. OMG… this is it I thought I can spend three months playing. When looking at other blogs I had this idea in my head of what my blog was going to look like – no blinkies, no side bar gadgets I just wasn’t going to be doing it long enough for any of that faffing around…. you get the picture – just cards. Naive me thought when the finger gets better I would just not post anymore…..

Not in a million years…. how wrong can someone be I am totally hooked!!! Apologies to everyone when I said blogging was a total waste of time. Also want to thank Andrew again for all his hard work behind the scenes. Love You Babe x x x (He is going to hate that.)

My card today is pure fun and playing around. I have done all the things I love…. stamping, paper piecing, stitching, digital stamping and decoupage. Wanted to distress and ink as well but thought this was a bit OTT.

Got to use one of my Christmas pressies a MS deep edge punch. Andrew bought me six of these (spoilt or what) so watch this space for other cards with them on.

Hooked is what I am after only three short months and loving every minute of it, 2010 here I come….. oh and by the way my side bar is starting to look like the very thing I didn’t want but who cares because I love it and can’t wait to add more things… hopefully a DT member….. a girl can dream can’t she!!!!

Memories

People ask do I ever get bored of making cards and the answer is nooooo. Reason being because you can use so many different techniques on a card. I really love the vintage look on cards but never seem to have enough time to make them.

I found the background paper for this card on a fabulous website called The Vintage Moth you just have to check it out because it was free.

My Christmas present from Andrew is the new deep edger MS punches (only played with them at the moment). I bought these from one of my favourite websites Craft Obsessions and when they were delivered, inside the packaging was a very nice – thank you for your order tag – tied onto this were lots of pretty pieces of wool. Just had to use them and voila here is the card.

Inked the card with Rangers peeled paint then applied the paper but first ripped, distressed and made holes in it (only did it because it was free). Covered the two birds on the paper with glossy accents just to give them more depth and to enhance at the same time.

Stamped a frame onto a square piece of card – then glossy accents, distress ink and a stamped sentiment in the middle were added. The lace around the edge was inked first with Rangers dusty concord then finished with peel offs.

Cut out the bird from another free image from the same web page, inked with dusty concord and again covered with glossy accents.

The free wool was added to the edge and also scrunched some of it together to add extra embellies. Bits of fibre have been added behind the bird. Shirl

Hi everyone a very quick post today because I was out all day yesterday at the hospital…… thought the pins were being removed from my finger but they will be in for another three months…. yuk.

This was the class card for Monday night. I used the same papers as Bath Time (well they were both from Pink Petticoat – Lolas Boudoir) and because they were already on my desk. Stitched as usual onto the card.

We stamped the image onto water colour card, cut out with a nestie then coloured in with Copics – very lightly because I think darker colours would have spoilt the effect – distressed the edges with Rangers Dusty Concord.

Cut out a pink and purple nestie and then cut both of these in half… one length ways and one vertical. Looped the ribbon and stuck to the back. Made two flowers with the same ribbon and added pink roses to the centres.

Punched out the scalloped tag and stamped in the middle. Little pearls dotted around finished the card beautifully. Enjoy.

I know my sister-in-law Irene will love both these cards because purple is her favourite colour.

Cute Daisy May Digi Stamps what can you say about these except wow, wow, and more wow. I have purchased a few of the images today and can’t wait to use them all. Going to be busy over Christmas but as the name says they are just the cutest.

Printed the image onto a nestie and distressed the edges with Rangers ink -Dusty Concord. The image is so crisp and clear I didn’t think she needed any colouring so I have left her in the nude so to speak…

Stitched the papers (which are also a download from Pink Petticoat another of my fave digi sites) onto the card. Cut the roses off the edge of the paper and decoupaged with five pink roses from my stash.

Stamped onto the nestie label, distressed the edges with the above colour and then threaded a pink ribbon through

Three contrasting brads were added to the centre of the paper flowers for the finishing touch.

Now to find a challenge to enter her into or if you have any ideas let me know.

Wasn’t going to tell you but I will now, trumpets and fanfare…. it’s my birthday today (no singing please)…. and guess what, have just checked out the Allsorts Challenge and I made the top 5, now is that a birthday present or what.

Anyway I have found my first challenge to enter…….. you’ve guessed it Allsorts have another challenge and it just happens to be the colour of advent – Purple – and as my grandchildren would say “way to go grandma” (how old do they think I am)… Allsorts Challenge # 30 – Purple

Dreaming of You

010026

This is the card we made in the class last Tuesday and I forgot to post (only remembered because the girls gave me a nudge).

I have had this Penny Black stamp for years and it’s called Frequent Flyer – the image always reminds me of tip toeing through the tulips – must put in tulips next time.

Coloured the image with copics and stamped grass and flowers along the bottom, finished with faux stitching.

Punched a MS around the corner shell square and in the middle of this punched out the butterfly. Made a border strip with another MS punch and matted on matching strip. Flowers are punched out with the Stamping Up flowers and a brad added to centre. Three little card candy, three little gems on the butterfly and a ribbon tied around the image just finishes the card nicely.

There you go girls now how about some cute comments…

Rain Anya

020007

Rain Anya is appropriate, my Tuesday class were going to make this card but because of the bad weather I had to cancel.

I stamped and paper pieced her and then coloured in with copic markers. Slight boob I scanned in the image and printed onto my card before I did the colouring in but we won’t mention that. Also printed a verse onto the card.

It doesn’t show very well on the card but I also heat embossed her little jacket because I wanted it to look like a plastic jacket.

With a versamark pen I coated over the jacket and added embossing powder then heated. Did this three times and it does look like a wet look jacket but the photo doesn’t do it justice. Mat and layered her onto a nestie and add two lines of faux stitching.

Added some beautiful wool to the edge of the card which Patricia bought and she kindly shared some with me (have to try and buy some more because it is gorge).

Punched two large flowers and then fixed a green flower (from my stash) to the middle of the two with a butterfly brad. Coloured the brad with a copic because the colour was wrong. Added liquid pearls to the centre of the flower.

Used a MS punch and a piece of mesh to the edge of the card. I stuck the mesh to the back of the nestie and just left an overhang showing this way it added more dimension to the card.

Shadow Box Card

010029

The card for my class tomorrow is a shadow box. I love the colours lilac and silver for Christmas cards and when I saw Stamping for the Weekend has this same colour combination for their challenge I just had to enter.

The easiest way I find to make this card is to add the paper to the card before I score it. Made an aperture with a nesti and then covered with a silver frame.

I stamped a Christmas tree onto the waste aperture and then embossed with silver embossing powder. Covered the tree with liquid pearls and also added some of the Robins Nest Tear Drops. Punched out lots of snowflakes and added one to the top of the tree along with a card candy.

Before I joined the two pieces of card together I put ribbon around and then tied a bow. After joining the card the front was finished off with punched snowflakes, leaves, silver bows and more card candy.

I’m sure the girls will just love making this card tomorrow.

Mona Lisa

I saw this stamp last month at Laura’s crop but I had already bought too many crafting goodies so could not buy her. She was the only one left and I was hoping when I went this month she was still there… yippee she was.

Decided I wanted her to be a pretty vintage card and I am very pleased with the end result. Stamped a script image all over the front of the card and stamped other little images on top ie bicycle, binoculars etc. The papers are from Cosmo Cricket and I stitched them on using a feather stitch. Used Rangers tea dye for the stamped images and fired brick, worn lipstick, tattered rose and black soot for the distressing. Used the Stamping Up three flower punch for the flowers and a MS punch for the leaves. A few more punched flowers with tan brads in the middle and a cream lace bow completes the pretty image.

I have entered this into the Quixotic Challenge #4: Tearing

First Miss Anya Dressy

010025

Wow I just love these stamps from the Greeting Farm I know they have been out for a while but I have only just found them and I am hooked already. Made my first card with Snow Anya and now this one is from the dressy set.

Pictured her in my head as a Spring type girl especially with the hat and so all the colours reflect this. It’s also probably because the weather is so dreadful that I am wishing for Spring already and we haven’t even had Christmas.

Stamped her onto white card stock with Memento tuxedo black, coloured in with Copics and cut out with a nestie. Also stamped lots of little flowers around her and the bee on her hat is a set of little stamps I bought from Tesco’s. From the same set there is a stamp with lots of little swirly dots on it, so used this to match up the image with the butterfly and drew a yellow line through all the dots. Edged her hat with some Sakura glaze and also her shoes. Two tiny little gems were added to her shoes and also the middle of her blouse.

Now the interesting part I stitched lots of little buttons around the edge of the card stock, wasn’t sure how so many would work but they look great.

The flower is made from ribbon and wait for it…. lots of pearly doodles added, as you have already guessed, I just think these are the bees knees. Paper flower was added to the top of the ribbon and an embellishment that looks like a jelly tot added to the centre.

A friend of mine bought this neat little butterfly – it’s a double die cut – and we have all cut out some butterflies. Needlesstosay I didn’t have the right colour so, just got out the copics again and matched up with what I think is a passable match for the card and then added more pearly doodles. The green background paper is a K & Co and the white is ordinary copy paper punched out with the MS around the corner shell punch. Chalked around the edges and also along the line of dots. Put ric rac along the bottom to finish.
