Water Inspired

Fashionable Stamping Challenges this fortnight have a fabulous theme of Water Inspired which was picked by the lovely Amanda.

Another of those cards that lays flat so makes it easier for posting but this one has wndows. This is similar to a card we made in my class last week, (gave the other away before I took a photo) so decided to make another for the FSC challenge. The theme today makes for a great man’s card so will be going into my future card box. Which incidentally I haven’t shown yet … will try to take photos next week and post.

Sideways on view of the card with the windows open. As you can see for the inside windows I made two pockets for little tags to be added. The other pic is how the card looks when fully opened.

The middle band on the cardstock was masked off before being inked, stenciled and stamped.

This last pic is how everything looks when folded flat to go into an envelope.

Added a little digital collaging with my graphics program around the edges.

Wish List Wallet

Fashionable Stamping Challenges this fortnight have an Anything Goes theme which was picked by the lovely Esther.

I have made another project which will sit on my craft desk it is a wish list wallet and inside I have added a little notebook plus pen ready for adding all the crafty goodies I want to buy at Ally Pally in April. Loads of stamping and the little goose in the top right hand corner was made by triple embossing an oval piece of chipboard then stamping into it before adding gilding wax to the edges.

When fully opened you can see my bird has been stamped onto some faux leather card. Used the age ole technique of making faux leather, which Sheena has revived but her method is with glycerine. When I first saw this being done with card it was with the Rangers Ink Refresher and I have now tried both products and the Ink Refresher just has the edge for me but they both do work. Also added a little pocket for a tag I made but forgot to take a photo.

The notebook and pen were bought whilst shopping in Newbridge last week, only €1 for both.

Such a classy image but for the life of me I can’t remember where I bought it. Printed onto canvas paper to give an aged look then stamped the edge with a grid stamp from Stampin Up. The rather oversized bird cage is a Kaiser craft stamp. The rest of the stamps are from Indigo Blu, Darkroom Door, PaperArtsy and last but not least Stampers Anonymous. The background cardstock is of course from G45.

Kinetic Fun In A Card

My first words are a huge thank you for all your lovely comments whilst being away. I am so behind with everything but I will be popping along to see you all in the coming week.

Finally back but when did I stop taking everything in my stride?? – Circumstances just went haywire when I went back to the UK for my grandsons birthday and they totally took me out of my comfort zone. A few years back I would have just shrugged and said “ah well what the heck”. I think I must have grown up somewhere along the line and not realised it!!!

When due to sail back they cancelled the boat due to bad weather conditions, Andrew went on line and changed my sailing dates for the next day, all good at this point.

Up with the larks and raring to go so off I started on my journey to the boat …two trains later and only as far as Bristol … Andrew telephoned to say they had cancelled the boat yet again. This time it was cancelled for two days. Got off the train and making my way across to another platform, ready for the trek back, it was then I realised that if I had been twenty years younger this would have been an adventure. I felt complete frustration that in this day and age they couldn’t inform the passengers sooner. Nobody’s fault when there are bad weather conditions but and a huge BUT we have all this technology at our finger tips and yet they couldn’t make a decision until the last minute … and I mean last minute … about whether the boat should sail!!

The up side was that I got another full day of crafting with my SIL Irene, three full days in all. We made some wonderful creations which will all be shown at later dates.

I have always had a fascination with kinetic cards, it’s the challenge of working out how the movement works. Sometimes just pasting things on and die cutting isn’t enough and the old grey cells want more stimulation. The workings out on copy paper for the pilot gets the juices flowing and when it works out it is a tremendous feeling.

Two birds with one stone and this is the card which my class made yesterday and they loved it.

This is a brilliant touchy feely card because of the flaps. When you first look they are not that noticeable it is only on closer inspection that you realise they are there. Then of course the fun starts all over again by the decorating of colour and stamps.

Fashionable Stamping Challenges this fortnight have the theme of Build It Up which was picked by the lovely Avril. You need to add at least three stamps or more to be in with a chance to win the $20 from Flonzcrafts.

Tag Along With FSC

Well this is the best morning ever as I again have internet access … been without it since 10.00 o’clock Monday morning. The friendly techy engineer turned up yesterday afternoon and fixed it. Being without the phone wasn’t too bad as I have the mobile but not having internet access was unreal.

Fashionable Stamping Challenges this fortnight must be an all time fave with everyone and it was picked by the lovely Yvonne (Meggymay). She wanted us all to Tag Along and we certainly did.

When making tags you can really go to town with all the mediums you use. Tissue paper is an all time fave of mine and as you can see I stamped her and the shoes onto it, very lightly coloured before fixing with Mod Podge. The background has been embossed, sanded then painted over before adding a little white for hi-lighting.

Hearts And Flowers

Fashionable Stamping Challenges would love to see Hearts & Flowers this fortnight. Our fabulous teamie sister Claire picked the theme this fortnight.

I loved doing the flower part of the card but I am not a hearts person and I dread Valentine’s cards because everyone wants to see hearts.

What with telling you I am not keen on making Christmas cards, now saying about hearts, bet your wondering what else I don’t like. Might as well tell you that the only other thing you definitely won’t see on my cards is wings. No not the bird or insect kind but the angel type wings.

There you go my three pet hates for crafting – Christmas Cards/Hearts/Angels Wings – now I wonder what your pet hates are, I would love to know?

Really on a roll today I might as well share with you that I am very superstitious about the colour green. I do not buy any clothes that are predominately green or a solid green and there is nothing in my house that is green. Very weird eh???

Funny enough I actually like certain greens … especially sage green … and this brings me onto my easel card which I have made today. Crafting is the only time that I allow myself to indulge in green.

This easel card came about because I made a very pretty card for my class yesterday which I was going to use as my FSC DT piece. Scroll on down if you would like to see the card. Thank goodness I realised in time that I didn’t have a single heart on it. Back to the drawing board and voilà my easel make.

Shirley3Shirley2Shirley1Shirley

This is the card which I taught the girls how to make yesterday and again it was mainly about making your own backgrounds onto a piece of DP.

We started off with two pages from an old book and on both we did a light wash of Victorian Velvet ink. One of the washed papers was torn and we added pieces to a lovely paper from Craftwork Cards. The second washed paper was stamped onto with various stamps and then cut out.

Yum Yum Raspberry, Chocolate & Cream At FSC

Fashionable Stamping Challenges this fortnight has a colour theme which was picked by the lovely Yvonne. She would love to see Raspberry, Chocolate and Cream on your makes.

Please don’t laugh when you start reading this post … I am deadly serious.

This is the start of one of my New Year’s Resolution which is to get ahead of the game with birthday cards for my family and friends in 2014.

I am always “behind throwing” when it comes to giving cards, so let me show you my first birthday card make of 2014 for my son’s birthday on the 30th October. I can show family cards because none of them look at my blog!!!

Each time I make something I am determined that it will fit in with someone’s birthday for next year (wonder how long this will last). At the moment I am in the process of making a file folder to put them all in.

I am more comfortable with doing collages and fussy cutting when it comes to making cards and this one certainly had loads thrown at it.

Not sure how my son is going to like the colour scheme but this is the way the card went and I carried on with it. To be more truthful the uber talented Dot and I picked the same stamp for our projects so I changed course mid-stream and the other will be shown at a later date (someone else’s birthday).

My son’s name is John-Paul but it has always been shortened to JP. Used another of Tim’s stencils for the initials called Cargo. Recently bought the Darkroom Door stamps, Correspondence which takes up the majority of the card, love them to bits. The men are from Flonzcrafts.

Wow one down, will probably get another one done before the resolution goes **** [CENSORED in the interests of national security] up. Can you tell that I worked at The British Embassy in Kuwait for 6 years??

This Is Where I Would Love To Be At The Moment

I don’t do enough of these one layer projects. Not sure why because you can pack as much into them as an OTT layered card.

Fashionable Stamping Challenges this fortnight is:

In The Holiday Spirit.

Our fabulous teamie sister Terry picked the theme this fortnight and all I can say is thanks babe it gave me the chance to get away from those gggrrrr Christmas cards (Christmas I love to bits, cards maybe not) and just play away.

Dot and I went for a holiday theme, mine is a wish you were here Postcard of France and hers is a bathing beauty. Now some of you eager beavers will spot that France isn’t exactly hot at this time of the year but a girl can dream can’t she!!! And it was the only stamp I had with the name of a country.

Postcard32Postcard4Postcard5

This image always reminds me of my two granddaughter’s, Amber and Lauren. Getting homesick so I am going to stop right there.

Loved doing this postcard so much that whilst all the goodies were still on the desk I made another, just slightly different.

PostcardPostcard2Postcard1

The Crafty Individuals stamp CI – 283 was just perfect for the postcard. Then came the inks, paint and pure heaven on a piece of card.

Shabby Chic Christmas

Fingers crossed that this schedules OK as I will be winging myself off to Dublin for a workshop with Eve. This is her first one in months and I can’t wait.

Fashionable Stamping Challenges this fortnight is: Shabby Chic Christmas.

Shabby chic is an appearance of age and signs of wear and tear (sounds a bit like me) … or … where new items have been distressed to achieve the appearance of age … ahhh that’s more like me!!

Really ruffled the edges of this cardstock. Scratched, rubbed, pinched … sounds like an itch … and tore but eventually got the effect I was after.

No Ink Challenge

Home from my little jaunt away and was greeted with my delicious new stamps from PaperArtsy calledID Dolls 1 and ID Dolls 2 – Simply GORGEOUS can’t wait to use Dolls 2.

Fashionable Stamping Challenges this fortnight is Anything But Ink … mmmmm just had to use her.

It’s not until you have a challenge like this that you realise how much ink you use on your projects. I have my teamie Laura to thank for the theme and for making me use my little grey cells. You really should check out her Cameo piece – it is gorge!

Everything on this tag has been made with paint, ehh except for the string and the beads and the card and the paste …!!! But the wooden beads were given a coat of paint which made them look quite boring so I decided to cover with spots.

Lost count of how many times I picked up an item only to remember that it was an ink product.

Used three stamps on the tag and each was stamped with a chalk paint. The tree in the background is from Stampin Up called Lovely As A Tree and a beauty of a stamp from Penny Black called Harlequin Border which I bought for a bargain price.

Before the stamping and paste were added to the tag I dabbed a watered down version of the paint to the edges and let it run to find it’s own level.

Also instead of gluing the stamped doll image I dolloped some paste onto the tag and sat the image on top.

Entering for the Craft Stamper Take It Make It Challenge they want to see splatter on your project.

Double The Time

Haven’t you wished you could have more time? That’s the reason why I cut my clock in half to double my time. Let’s hope it works!!

Fashionable Stamping Challenges starts another new challenge today and my dear friend Dot 006 has picked the theme for you which is making a card … no projects or tags just a card.

Blended Stampin Up inks, Tempting Turquoise and Rich Razzleberry over cardstock before adding molding paste through the Tim Holtz Dot Fade stencil and the Burlap.

Also stamped and coloured this gorgeous image with the same ink colours. Placed her inside a stamped frame from G45.

To make the flower, I used a die. Cut out with handmade paper which was coloured with the same S U inks then stamped over with a script.

Covered cardstock with a light coating of the S U inks before stamping onto it with the clock then tore in half. See – double the time!!!
