Friendship

I know we all say it, but really where has this fortnight gone? Fashionable Stamping Challenges has another new challenge starting today and it only feels as if it was yesterday that we started the last one!! Stenciling and Masks are needed for this challenge which was the brainchild of Ellie.

Don’t you just want to give her a big cuddle? She looks a bit like “Billy No Mates” and how sad that her friends have just walked away and left her.

“If you have two friends in your lifetime, you’re lucky. If you have one good friend, you’re more than lucky.”

Used a new mask designed by Neil Walker called Wonky Street which was given to me by a dear friend, also used a Dylusions Stencil called Letter Jumble.

That Autumn Feeling

Not sure what the weather is like where you live but where I am things are definitely turning those delicious Autumnal tones. Our super sweet teemie Avril picked the theme this fortnight at Fashionable Stamping Challenges and it just had to be Autumn colours.

Autumn brings to mind my childhood days of wearing wellington boots, walking in the road by the kerb and kicking those beautiful, crisp and colourful leaves into the air. Not sure our grandchildren can do that nowadays with all the traffic about!!!

As usual my card evolved totally not the way I wanted it to. Leaves were going to be my focal point but when I saw this stamp lurking on my shelf an image came to mind of a genteel young lady playing the piano nestled in a bay window and looking out at the Autumn weather.

Pop on over to the main page at FSC and see what all the lovely teemies have made and remember Flonzcrafts wil be giving the winner $20 to spend at his store.

Magical Resist Technique

Wow she seriously looks hung over or all the worlds troubles are on her shoulders. How many of us have looked like that at some time or another?? Her mum looks as if she is writing a little note to cheer her up!! My mind certainly gets imaginative when I make something but I adore the image which you can find here that I just had to use it.

Love challenges because they remind you to do things that you haven’t done for ages or you have forgotten about them. Fashionable Stamping have the theme this fortnight of “Can U Resist”. We have Fliss to thank for this challenge and for making me nudge my brain about resist terchniques.

Wax paper was used for this technique which I haven’t done in ages!! Who also remembers doing this from their school days when wax paper was so readily available … ehh not with embossing folders just by scrunching the paper in your hand!!

Embossed a piece of wax paper with an A4 Spellbinders M-Bossabilities Garden Lattice. (When you break the fibers of the wax paper it enables you to use as a resist.) Sandwiched it between two pieces of cardstock (works better on glossy or satin) placed a piece of copy paper over the top then ironed. It makes the most delicious background but you can’t see it until you add some ink. Ink used was Fired Brick, Mustard Seed, Mowed Lawn and Vintage Photo. Gently blended the colours over the top and then like magic the embossing begins to appear.

The stamped sentiments came from a Dyan Reaveley Quintessential Quotes set. Both ladies are from Flonzcrafts you can find one above and the other here . “Just A Note” is an Anita’s stamp from Docrafts, ladies face on the tag is a Creative Expressions stamp. The postcard with the flowers from Crafty Individuals was stamped onto a die cut envelope, added a tag inside and also one on the outside. In the right hand corner a PaperArtsy mini stamp was used called French Script.

Love To Sew

How many of us can remember ourselves as a little girl sitting on a chair with sewing or knitting in our hands. Maybe your memory is of a winters evening being so engrossed with your needlework that nothing else mattered except the pure enjoyment you felt. When I saw a postcard with this little girl on it my memories came flooding back and I had to have it.

Punched 9 little tags from some leftover embossed cardstock which was sitting on my desk and stamped the sentiment “Love To Sew”. Added to the tag with little French knots, better than glue because they still swivel about. Even the little alphabet stamps I bought come in a traditional wooden old fashioned pencil case … found them again in the big tidy up!!! Check them out here. Cut her from the postcard and stitched onto a tag. She will hang in my now re-vamped and tidy craft room. Don’t think it will stay tidy for long!!!

Sew-N-Sew At FSC

Firstly I want to say hello and welcome to Laura who is joining Fashionable Stamping Challenges this week but sadly our teemie Fashion Stampette Silvia has decided to step down so I just want to say good luck Silvia in wherever your new journey takes you sweetie pie.

This fortnights challenge at FSC is one of my faves as sewing is something that I have always loved doing. Each fortnight one of the DT’s get to pick the theme and I have Sue to thank for choosing this one.

Isn’t the stamp pretty it’s one from our sponsor Flonz Crafts and to make it easier for you I have left a link here of where to buy her.

The card was made by stamping the image onto gauze, putting some wadding behind before stitching around the edge. I die cut a frame and then stitched around the edge with a zig zag and a straight stitch.

Did something that I haven’t done before I added some Sepia Accents to her hair and dress which made it perfect to add little stray pieces of material. Stamped onto the bottle top but it looked to neat so I sanded some ink off. You just have to pop on over to see all the Design Teams projects they are amazing and while you’re there you might just as well enter because you never know it might be you who wins the $20 to spend at Flonz’s Store.

FSC Meets Find Your Wings & Fly Album

Sunday and we all know what that means: Fashionable Stamping Time

This fortnight we want to see anything to do with … Mail Time.

You have had the quirky now it’s the gentlemen part of the album … see told you not a bit feminine or girly.
Stamped onto a black mat … which slots into a pocket … with the Penny Black Postcard stamp. Used Versamark for the ink then gold embossed.

Another little flap opens and inside I stamped the Owl from Flonzcrafts which you can find here … reminded me of Harry Potter’s owl called hedwig who used to deliver him letters. You can just see another Penny Black sentiment stamp.

When the mat is removed you can see the cut out playing card and also another stamped sentiment. The gentleman is another stamp from Flonzcrafts here.

The other side to this page has another mat slotted into a pocket. Just love the man on the Penny Farthing bike … but the cycling looks too much like hard work.

First Page Of Find Your Wings & Fly Album

Yesterday I showed the front of an album which I am in the middle of making. Today you can see the first and second pages.

01

This album has lots of flipsy flopsy pockets and in a few of them I have added black mats which have been stamped with gold embossing powder. Left the other side plain ready for photos to be added.

This pic shows the underneath when the mat is taken out. Fussy cut the umbrella from one of the pages and added to the bird also did a bit of colouring as they looked too neat.

Sorry girls there is more to show tomorrow x x

Find Your Wings & Fly

This is the album I started at Crafty Queens on Sunday, really only got the shell completed … too much nattering and eating going on … so, as per usual, had to finish at home.

The papers we used are from My Mind’s Eye … Find Your Wings & Fly which are totally gorgeous but I would probably not have chosen them for myself.

The beauty of going to someone else’s workshop is that you get to work on things that takes you completely out of your comfort zone. This was definitely a challenge for me as you will see when I start to show you more of the completed project. No pretty ladies to be seen anywhere, it is more of a quirky album with a gentleman theme to it!!!

Eve made her album with six ring holes and I made mine with nine. Used those lovely quirky cat stamps which are totally pretty, love them.

More tomorrow!!!

Something New At FSC

Something New at Fashionable Stamping Challenges this fortnight.

My new for the challenge is the Origami Leaf Pocket which I am mad about. You can find instructions on how to make it HERE.

Two of my tags have been cut from foam, the one with the girl image and the wasp image. I heated the foam first before stamping into it with black Staz-On ink. This then leaves a deep indented impression which is very dimensional.

So Aloof At FSC

Made another inspirational tag for Fashionable Stamping Challenges seeings as how the last one was a joint effort and not really all my own work.

This tag came about because I had a play day yesterday with Pat and I was showing her how to use the melting pot.

I first cut out the beautiful image and Mod Podged her onto a chip board tag which I cut out with the Tim Holtz Tag & Bookplates Die. No Gessoing or painting I left everything plain. Then came the fun bit, melted clear UTE with Cosmic Shimmer Lapis Black UTE then poured and swirled over the edge of the image. Whilst still molten I stamped into it with a Melt Art Textured Tread – Scattered Leaves. All I can say is wow they really work. Such a deep impression my only regret is that I only bought one of the Textured Treads. Didn’t really know how good they were so one was my limit in case I didn’t like them. How wrong can a gal get!!! Hand stitched along her bonnet and added a few of my fave French knots.
