Shabby Chic Christmas

Fingers crossed that this schedules OK as I will be winging myself off to Dublin for a workshop with Eve. This is her first one in months and I can’t wait.

Fashionable Stamping Challenges this fortnight is: Shabby Chic Christmas.

Shabby chic is an appearance of age and signs of wear and tear (sounds a bit like me) … or … where new items have been distressed to achieve the appearance of age … ahhh that’s more like me!!

Really ruffled the edges of this cardstock. Scratched, rubbed, pinched … sounds like an itch … and tore but eventually got the effect I was after.

Pretty Shabby

I have Brenda to thank for the image used on my card. She was picked to be a guest designer at Gecko Galz and this is the image she used here. I thought it was gorgeous so I bought it. Thanks sweets for showing it to us. You can see both Brenda’s fabby makes here.

I had already started my class card and just couldn’t believe my luck how the colours all blended in so well. Sorry girls we are painting again!!!

November’s main theme at Crafts-Too-Challenge You is A Vintage Christmas. There are two parts to the monthly challenge and today we are onto the second part which is: – Polychromatic

This is the opposite to Monochromatic so now you can use colour to your hearts content for the rest of the month.

Corrugated cardboard again (so much cheaper than using cardstock all the time) which was diecut then put into an A4 Crafts -Too embossing folder. This was again put through the big shot to flatten so that Mr Jolly Holly snowman, which is from Hampton Art, could be stamped. Sentiment is from Indigo Blu, used with Versamark then sprinkled with white embossing powder before being hi-lighted with a fine black pen.

The rest of the design team have worked really hard to bring you some amazing inspiration so pop over to have a peek.

First Wall Hanging

This is my first wall hanging simply because not sure if this was my type of thing.

Had a play day yesterday with the melt pot, corrugated cardboard, paint, beeswax, napkins, mica powder, gilding wax, border die, stitching and ribbon.

This is the result after all the playing and I really loved how it turned out. This piece will be hanging in my craft room as of today and I just might be doing some more!!!

The stitching came about because I wanted a decorative edge at the top. Cut it out with an Xcut border die which had lots of little holes when cut.

Stitching and myself go hand in hand so out came the needle and thread to do a quick back stitch along the top.
Just didn’t want to glue or tape the ribbon handle so this was stitched onto the wall hanging at the same time. This appealed to the neat freak in me so the back also looked nice.

Touch Of Romance

Haven’t made a little book in ages but I was so inspired after seeing Asdtrid’s gorgeous make that I just had to get stuck in.

This is what Astrid’s little book looks like here and there is even a tutorial on how she made it. You have to go and have a peek it is amazing.

Followed the fabulous instructions on how to make the book but when finished I deviated a little by using the Sizzix on the edge Plaque & Postage die.

Candle Time

Showing the candle which the girls decorated in class yesterday also a brown bag which was altered to match the candle.

We first fussy cut the image we wanted from the napkin then heated onto the candle with wax paper. Using this sentiment stamp with green ink we stamped onto some beige tissue paper then again heated onto the candle.

Decorating the bag was fun because we painted streaks with three different colours before adding some more fussy cut napkin with Mod Podge. Raffia string was used for decoration and also some red tissue paper.

Everyone in the class did extremely well and didn’t melt their candles but we had a few tense moments. In fact every candle looked amazing but because all the candles were wrapped in tissue paper and in their little bags it seemed a shame to unwrap. The bag with the bird and holly in the front is Kay’s, she used a different napkin.

What a rubbish photographer I would make. So sorry but one of the girls bags is hidden behind Kay’s.

Snow Bird

November’s main theme at Crafts-Too-Challenge You is A Vintage Christmas. There are two parts to the monthly challenge and this is my second card which is for the:

A Monochromatic Vintage Christmas

Black and white is such a classic when doing Monochromatic so my card this week is just that. Christmas also looks so elegant when viewed as a snowy scene in the darkness.

Cut the Xmas Tree border die in white cardstock then stitched onto a piece of lace before hanging as a banner across my card. The bird stamp is from Stampin Up Beautiful Season which I cut into so that I could layer the Stampendous Snowy Postcard underneath. (Only used the centre part of the Snowy Postcard.) Both were inked with Versamark and white E P heated over the top plus the sentiment was done in the same way.
Ripped the edges of the black cardstock then inked with Versamark and white E P. Added the snow with dribbles of Shabby White Frantage

Traditional Christmas

Christmas time at Vintage Stamping Challenges and for my design team card I chose this beautiful image from Flonz Crafts.

One of my favorite pastimes at Christmas is shopping, actually it’s my fave pastime anytime of the year. This Christmas card shows stamping, layering and paper folds with a little bit of blending and tearing.

No Ink Challenge

Home from my little jaunt away and was greeted with my delicious new stamps from PaperArtsy calledID Dolls 1 and ID Dolls 2 – Simply GORGEOUS can’t wait to use Dolls 2.

Fashionable Stamping Challenges this fortnight is Anything But Ink … mmmmm just had to use her.

It’s not until you have a challenge like this that you realise how much ink you use on your projects. I have my teamie Laura to thank for the theme and for making me use my little grey cells. You really should check out her Cameo piece – it is gorge!

Everything on this tag has been made with paint, ehh except for the string and the beads and the card and the paste …!!! But the wooden beads were given a coat of paint which made them look quite boring so I decided to cover with spots.

Lost count of how many times I picked up an item only to remember that it was an ink product.

Used three stamps on the tag and each was stamped with a chalk paint. The tree in the background is from Stampin Up called Lovely As A Tree and a beauty of a stamp from Penny Black called Harlequin Border which I bought for a bargain price.

Before the stamping and paste were added to the tag I dabbed a watered down version of the paint to the edges and let it run to find it’s own level.

Also instead of gluing the stamped doll image I dolloped some paste onto the tag and sat the image on top.

A Vintage Christmas At C2CU

November’s main theme at Crafts-Too-Challenge You is A Vintage Christmas. There are two parts to the monthly challenge and the first which runs from 1st – 14th November is:
A Monochromatic Vintage Christmas.
Disregard the candle as it’s not finished yet and only added for decoration … actually it’s my next class project, showing the girls how to decorate a candle and bag to match.

Turned a boring brown paper bag into my monochromatic make and went with different tints, tones, hues and shades of a single colour. In this case it’s brown. The Snow Tree E F was used to frame a picture from this Nellie Christmas Sheet. With the Xmas Tree border die I snipped off each tree individually and made a banner with them.

The candle will be used to show the girls how to add a pretty image onto it. I used a Nicecrane Designs image which I first printed onto tissue paper.
