Alas Not Quite A Perfect Sentiment

Thought I had found the perfect sentiment for this tag but alas no.

Now I could have made a computer generated one but I wanted to see what it looked like if the words were crossed through …
HER and SHE then changed to HIM and HE. Judge for yourself!!!

The original sentiment is from a set by Studio 490 called She had a flair for Fashion. Mr Darcy is from an Indigo Blu set.

Used a SU ink pad called Night Of Navy to stamp him before colouring with Distress Markers.

Peace & Tranquility

As if I need to tell you it’s Friday today … all you crafters out there will be chomping at the bit for 5 0’clock to come around so that you can dash off home ready for your weekend of crafting heaven to start.

Today is week 4 of the Crafts-Too-Challenge You which has this months theme of texture.
Onto twist 2 of the theme and we would dearly love to see you add something shiny or glittery.

My DT make this week is a tag which has just about everything on there that makes me a happy and relaxed bunny when crafting.

Stamping and especially colouring really surrounds me with such a charming sense of peace and tranquility. Everything just shuts off around me and I hear and feel nothing except the stroke of the paintbrush. I know that sounds really mushy but I do honestly feel like that.

All the cares and woes just drift away and leaves me with a face like this … 😀

Painted her with a mixture of mediums but mainly Cosmic Shimmers. Loads of texture on the tag … oh my, even die cut some gold mirri card … which I have to say I rather like!!! Stamped the butterfly onto DP then added glossy accents before pressing the little gems into it.

The pretty embossing folder is an A4 Crafts Too which I used on the tag and the vellum envelope. More texture with the gauze material and the stamped sentiment which is one of my faves from Dyane Reaveley. Now it’s your turn to have fun and enter those scrummy pieces plus hop on over to see what my other teamies have made.

All you want to do with those gorgeous cheeks is pull a little face, shake your head and say in a babyish voice “cooochi coochi coo”!!!

That Autumn Feeling

Not sure what the weather is like where you live but where I am things are definitely turning those delicious Autumnal tones. Our super sweet teemie Avril picked the theme this fortnight at Fashionable Stamping Challenges and it just had to be Autumn colours.

Autumn brings to mind my childhood days of wearing wellington boots, walking in the road by the kerb and kicking those beautiful, crisp and colourful leaves into the air. Not sure our grandchildren can do that nowadays with all the traffic about!!!

As usual my card evolved totally not the way I wanted it to. Leaves were going to be my focal point but when I saw this stamp lurking on my shelf an image came to mind of a genteel young lady playing the piano nestled in a bay window and looking out at the Autumn weather.

Pop on over to the main page at FSC and see what all the lovely teemies have made and remember Flonzcrafts wil be giving the winner $20 to spend at his store.

Glitter & Shine For C2CU

Friday … another week just whizzed by and I’m sitting here wondering where it went!!!

Today is week 3 of the Crafts-Too-Challenge You which has this months theme of texture.
Onto twist 2 of the theme and we would dearly love to see you add something shiny or glittery.

When I first saw the words shiny or glittery … picture the scene … me sitting in my chair in the craft room … hair standing on end just like a Mohican … face looked as if it had seen JACK THE RIPPER … frozen scream from my mouth … first thought, that awful glittery card which shed everywhere!!!

Phew panic over, the ole gray matter kicked in and calm soothing thoughts entered of Frantage, embossing powder, glimmer mists and other lovely goodies needless to say the hair and face went back to normal.

Close up first because I wanted you to see the Frantage button which is delicious, this is the mold I used just a tiny amount of Frantage needed then popped into the oven on a baking tray to set. You can see the other buttons made with it here. Be warned they are very delicate when made so treat with x x loving care x x

The yummy embossing folder is an A4 Crafts Too. Only used on half the card then obscured most of it with the image … why do we do that??? The knotted bow is made with a bandage … don’t even go there as to why the bandage was on my desk, I have no idea … just cut off a bit, tied in a knot then spritzed with glimmer mist … mmmmmm glimmer mists!!! Also spritzed the flowers … nothing escapes when I have the glimmer mists in my little puddies!!! Used a gold embossing powder for the stamped images, both are from Penny Black called Soft Sculptureand How To Fly. The stencil which also got the gold treatment is called Mini Bricks.

That’s it waffling over, now it’s your turn to have fun and enter those scrummy pieces plus hop on over to see what my other teemies have made. All gorgeous makes of art as usual.

Scary Mary

I have the crafting head of a … BUTTERFLY… which flits from here to there, then spies something else which gets it totally side tracked from what it started in the first place.

At times like this I have the attention span of a … GOLDFISH!!!

I say this because I was visiting my dear friend Donna this morning from Creative Smiles and saw the beautiful card she made. That’s all it took for me to forget the urgent piece I am making.

My butterfly head spun off to find the image which I coloured whilst on my crafting hols in Wales … remember the one with the reader and the crafter!! Now you might think that I am really rude by calling them the crafter and the reader … mmm maybe we could make a film of this … but both ladies asked me not to name them in my posts.

Anyway the goldfish took over and everything else was forgotten except finding what I had done with her.

Found her in my finished box of coloured images. Nicknamed her Scary Mary on the hols. Just added her to a tag with a few embellies and job completed. Now she can go in my finished tag box … so many boxes!!!!!

Now where was I … urrr the urgent piece which should have been completed yesterday!!

Lauren’s Forgotten Book

Started hunting for some material which I desperately needed when I came across this little book which was started over a year ago with my granddaughter Lauren. Material forgotten about at this stage.

Lauren wanted to learn how to sew and this is what she wanted to make. We both started off with some hessian cloth or burlap as it’s also known for the outside. Used a striped material for the inner and stitched to the hessian. Lauren lost interest at this stage so I put it away ready to finish later.

Nearly finished the inside I still want to put in a few pages for additional photos to be added but have to leave it again until I have finished the project which I needed the material for in the first place.

Playtime After Class

In my class yesterday I showed the girls how to alter those papers that we don’t necessarily like anymore. See here. Demonstrated with the same piece of paper but because I had already made the Christmas card I showed them how to add colour to the paste mixture and used a different stencil. Didn’t get to finish in class but told the girls I would post when finished.

Totally different from the Christmas card. Used part of the Indigo Blu stamp Dancing Children and also a couple of other stamps from my stash. Because the stamping looked so stark against the muted background I washed over with some watered down gesso. Coloured the images with DI – Faded Jeans, Crushed Olive and Worn Lipstick

What the heck thought I would show the Christmas card again.
Can you believe that both projects started with such a grotty looking piece of paper just goes to show what you can do with inks, stencils, stamps and paints.

First Scary Then Beautiful

Haven’t shown a class card for ages but I just had to show this Christmas card that the girlies will be making today.

I found a 12 x 12 paper pad languishing in the murky depths of my craft room after the big clear out.
If you could have seen the total horror on my face when I found it. Going through my mind was what can I do with that?

Share of course!!!

As you can guess the class today is all about altering those papers that we have in our stash … which seemed a good buy at the time … can’t think why!!

BEFORE

AFTER … not so scary now eh!!

What a transformation, below is everything we will be using to make this card.

Who would guess that getting messy with loads of paint on your fingers can create a lovely Christmas card like this?

Textured Book For C2CU

Made a little book for my DT make this week at Crafts-Too-Challenge You and I’m still in the embossing folder mode. Crafts 2 always have a little twist to their challenges and for the first part of the challenge it is Texture but Choose Your Own Style.

These are the three toppers which I made for my wallet last week and below is the little book which I made with them.

For the front of my book I used the last topper tucked behind the others. Swiped Bundled Sage distress ink on the edges but when putting together it didn’t quite gel. Very gently wiped off some of the Bundled Sage ink and over blended with Worn Lipstick. Definitely toned better with the rose image. All the embossing folders used are from Crafts-Too.

Love the front of this little book and I couldn’t resist using some of the Graphic 45 Ladies Diary for the other pages.

Fussy cut some images from the papers and added other elements, like stamping, masking, inking, a little flower making, loads of lace and of course embossing.

Please hop on over to see what the other DT members have made because I know you won’t be disappointed.
