Post It Note Holders

Whilst home in the UK at Christmas time I had a crafty play day with my good friend Brenda and she gave me a beautiful Post It Note Holder which she had made. She gave it to me because I was quite poorly at the time and she knew that when I had seen it posted on her blog I just loved it. How kind is that. You can see Brenda’s post here.

What are we crafters like … hooked or what … I had to have the die which was a Tim Holtz Sizzix Index Card Folder … brilliant.

Anyways I made one so you get to see not only mine but also Brenda’s.

Brenda’s is the one with the ribbon on and mine has the little mouse which was printed onto tissue paper then mod podged.
More images below of the front and back … Brenda’s first then mine.

There is a new challenge blog just starting girls and I am entering the above into it … go check it out and see who is on the Design Team.

Country View Crafts Challenges – ‘Pick & Mix’ … that’s anything goes to you and me!!!

Love That Hat

Nicecrane Designs have some gorgeous images which you can print onto tissue paper beautifully, then add to your tag, canvas or whatever artistic medium you want to. Mod Podge is my choice of adding to whatever I am using but you can use whatever you feel comfortable with.

I chose this image to use on my tag which you can find here because she looks so elegant plus I had some flower soft on my desk which went so well. Used another piece of tissue paper which I already had in my bit box because the little rose image complimented her.

For the background I used the water and alcohol inks method to give a marbling effect on the tag, then sponged over with some translucent paint to give a beautiful sheen. The little piece of netting plus the flower soft finished her dress off just right.

Trinket Box

Just a quick post to show you the finished little box which I made on Sunday at Crafty Queens with Eve.
Again a huge thanks to Eve for all her hard work we all so appreciate the monthly workshops.

Did very little with the box at the workshop because I wanted to paint the edges black and had nothing with me to do so. We also made a little album that goes inside the box so I worked more on that which should be finished tomorrow.

The box is a Tim Holtz Configurations Shadow Box 5.5″ x 5.5″ which I have covered with the Graphic 45, A Ladies Diary Papers, Black Gesso and more Frantage.

This is how the inside looks when opened plus you can just see that I have used a brass side hook and eye for the closure.

My granddaughter Amber will be 15 on Monday, so guess who will be getting this in the post.

Fantasy Flitter

Can’t believe I have made my class card for tomorrow already … just sitting down before I fall!!!!

The girls are going to be using the flitter flakes and flitter glue from Indigo Blue. They will also be making an acetate flower which has been coloured with alcohol inks.

I thought I would show you how the inside of my cards look and also the back.
First I pre-stamp the image then scan it into GIMP which makes it very easy to make an inner for the card.
Wrap a verse around the image and all looks very professional. I also add the image to the back of my card with all my details.

That is not a blob after www.shirlsartwork.com, I deliberately distorted because it is my e-mail address.

Birds At FSC

BIRDS is definitely the name of the game this fortnight at Fashionable Stamping Challenges as chosen by my lovely teemie Meggymay so we would love to see those birdies in anyway shape or form.

It’s my SIL Irene’s birthday today and this is the card I have made for her. Happy Birthday … Eye!!!!
I used a garland stitch to join together two 8″ x 8″ Papermania scalloped cardstock pieces then scored down beside the stitching … had this cardstock for a number of years but it only came to light because I am cleaning out my craft room … about time too says hubby.

Got so carried away with the stitching that even the ribbon couldn’t escape the needle. Irene is very much like myself and likes the pretty grungy type cards so this was a joy to make for her. It’s really great when you get these ideas and put them into practise but the only problem now is finding an envelope big enough to fit the card … d’oh.

Brenda one of my DT sister’s at FSC is having a 3rd Blogaversary giveaway and she has a fabby set of stamps and more up for grabs … so what are you waiting for!!!!

Had a little fun time with GIMP … take a look.

Frantage At It’s Best

I love the colour combination at Vintage Stamping Challenges I decided to make an early inspirational piece plus I loved having the time to just play.

Used another gorgeous image from our sponsor Leo at Flonzcrafts more inky fingers but well worth it. Also used the Frantage embossing powder on the butterfly and the elegant lady, see her here.

Hope you enjoy the card and if you want to see more pieces from my DT sisters please hop on over and leave them some love.

Blue, Brown & Beige

This month at Vintage Stamping Challenges we would love to see you use the colours Blue, Brown & Beige.

For my DT card I have used the car and a silhouette image from our sponsor Leo at Flonzcrafts.

Inky fingers after making this card but I thought she was so appropriate with all those high winds we are having at the moment, you can find her here.

How generous is Leo from Flonzcrafts he will be letting the winner of this challenge choose $20 worth of stamps from his shop. You have one month to enter the challenge so thinking caps on and show us those gorgeous creations of Blue, Brown & Beige.

Hope you enjoy the card and if you want to see more pieces from my DT sisters please hop on over and leave them some love.

Belle Of The Ball

At my class today instead of giving the girls a plain card to decorate we made our own by cutting out two dies from a Marianne Creatables Scallop Die. The girls all love their stamping and today I made sure they had plenty of that to do. Just a little colouring on the ladies hat and shoulder. We added a real touch of glamour to the stamped lady by dressing her with ribbon and lace. She really didn’t look ready for the ball until the Liquid Pearls were added.

Stampsmith New Stamps & Altered Frame

The stamps I won from Estelle at the Stampsmith plopped onto my mat just in time for me to enter the challenge over at the Stampsmith they want you to Recycle and Reuse.

I was like a cat on a bed of hot coals waiting for the stamps to arrive as Estelle decorates her envelopes beautifully so you can tell when the post arrives at a glance which is hers. I also pick off the stamps as they are always gorgeous and can you believe this time she put some little stamps in the envelope for me … purring with contentment.

I had a fabby time with Eve from Crafty Queens on Sunday, we made an album … will show another time, per usual mine is still a work in progress. The album was created with a plain white frame from Ikea. I actually loved the kit so much I bought another because I just knew that I wanted to alter the plain white frame and use the stamps that I had won. First pic shows the boring white frame.

Second pic shows how gorgeous the frame looks when altered with Alcoholic Inks … (Alcohol Inks). Dot suggested the inks and the alchoholic bit … I was going to cover with washi tape but the inks did a better job … thank you sweets, didn’t use the Lettuce green though .

I made three flip over pages, each page can also hold a tag and when the page is flipped over you can add a photo to the back if you want to. The third pic shows the tag and the fourth shows the tag inserted. You just slide between the punched edges. The beauty of this is that you can change your tags whenever you want … love it.

You will be seeing more of the stamps I won and below is how the frame looks on my craft room windowsill … very lucky to get this photo as the light is almost gone but can you believe it is a better shot and shows the colours beautifully. You can just see a sneak peek of the tags which are going to be added to the other flip pages. I adore this frame because each day I can flip and look at something new, plus I can add a new tag anytimg I want … cool eh. Hopefully tomorrow I will finish and post.

Wish List Book

Today was the first class I have given this year. My classes should have started on 5th January but because of being ill, today was my first. The girls were all having withdrawal symptons … and me!!! We made a Wish List Book, this means that when they see any crafting goodies they like they can jot it in the book so as not to forget. I took my sewing machine to the class … my old one (26 years old and still going strong) … not my all singing and dancing one … so that the girls could stitch everything together, rather than do it by hand.

The first pic shows the front of the book which we covered with a paper napkin then did lots of stamping. We also made a little save the page book mark.

This is the inside of the book again with lots of stamping but also I have used some digi downloads from the Graphics Fairy … do love this site and they are all free. The first pic shows the bookmark marking the page but this time you have the back view. To make it easier for us we stamped numbers onto the pages before we did anything so that we knew what order the book was supposed to go. There is nothing neat about this book everything is ripped and shabby, even the stamping isn’t straight which is so unusual for me but just the way I wanted it to look. Gold gilding wax has been added to the edges which really ages it.

You can see the middle page in one of the pics where we made two holes so we could add ribbon then we stitched straight down the middle and over the ribbon to make sure everything stays in place.
