Vintage Album

Long time no see … ages and ages in fact since I posted … must be two weeks … well 10 days … no wonder I was getting withdrawal symptoms!!!

Better late than never I say and in between lots of other things I have been working on, here is an album which I am going to give to Amber.

That girl is crazy about anything Victoriana, vintage and just oldie worldy. If she sees anything that has lace, ribbon and vintigie she is like a kid in a sweet shop. Hence I love making things for her because they are so appreciated, loved and well looked after.

This album has a flap to it which will eventually hide some writing which her grandma … me … will write for her … and in my own fair hand. There are too many piccies to show everything in one hit so I am going to bore you with lots of piccies over the next few days.

First two pics are the front which has a flap opening.

These two pics show the front flap when opened, this is where I am going to write a journalling piece for her and it will stay hidden behind the flap … no writing in there yet … that’s between Amber and me ha ha.

I do love making albums especially when I create lots of pockets for tags and photos.
Have used loads of techniques again inking, stamping, stencilling, embossing, frantage, made my own flowers also used some of my new stamps from Anna Griffin.

Papers used are My Minds Eye, used 3 pads actually, Breeze, Paris & Co also Sunshine. Lightly inked over all the pages so that not too much white shows through.

Love Those Shoes

Before I show the card we are making in class today I just have to tell you about me and cameras … you all know I don’t like taking photos of my work because I am never happy with it. Must get that light box … any suggestions of what to get girls????

I was at Patricia’s on Wednesday having a crafting play day and I took my camera to take piccies of her cards. Patricia is having a workshop next week Sunday, 21st October … (if interested e-mail me or go onto Patricia’s blog for details). Anyway started to take the pics … managed two … then the camera just wouldn’t work … no way no how!!!! You can imagine how calm and serene I was about this … don’t ****** think so.

How is it we always forget about things until we come to use them again!!!! You get it … wanted to take photos of my class card today but that darn thingy wouldn’t work … grrrr.

Oh so sweetly asked him in doors if he could have a look for me … guess what some how I had put it onto record mode, who records on a camera???? Obviously not me.

Well now that takes me to the fun bit … how calm and serene I was. Can’t wait to show Patricia the video of her and me plus what we were saying ….. no I am not going to put it on YouTube!!! Don’t care how mean I am.

Fun over, time to show my card. Wow haven’t done decoupage for ages but he looked just right in the middle of this box card. Still lots of stamping and distressing though.

This is the sort of card that looks quite masculine but if you have a really really good friend who can take a joke then I don’t see any reason why you can’t send to a girl. Change the papers to pinky, stamp some girly shoes, last but not least she doesn’t mind being called a dog … yikes!!! Maybe not.

Autumnal

Will tell you about the post in a minute let me tell you what I just had delivered!!!! Excitement, excitement.

Sitting here doing my post for Fashionable Stamping Challenges, which by the way is Shades Of Autumn/Fall and Larry (my postman) parked outside my craft room.

Have to explain something about where I live in Ireland … in the sticks/back of beyond basically, so we don’t have conventional postman, shank’s pony, riding on their bikes. We have a postman in a van. Anyway if I happen to be in my craft room … which is at the back of the bungalow … and I see Larry pull up that only means one thing ……. crafting goodies … yayyyyy!!!!!

I borrowed an old Sizzix die from Margaret called Picket Fence which I needed desperately … you know the feeling, so I decided to get my own and I found one on e-bay … that came. Next Anna Griffin was on QVC last week and I ordered her beautiful stamp collection, housed in a binder … that came. But the biggest surprise of all was a new Big Bite Crop-A-Dile. My little treasure of him in doors bought me a new one because my other has never really worked properly since I bought it. Had a teensy little stamping of the feet the other day because I went to use it, forgetting it didn’t work.

What a gorgeous start to the day. Huge big kisses and a thank you sweetie pie.

Card what card just want to play with all my goodies.

Gave her a little scarf as the outfit she is wearing is just to summery and I thought she might be cold seeing as how it’s Autumn … ha ha.

Made a large tag and did all my background stamping, glimmer misting, micro beading plus adding of a skeleton leaf before I stitched onto a DL card. Used the leaf pattern for the stitching which I though was quite appropriate for Autumn.

Took a close up of the flower because the singed petals look better.
What a laugh that was, sprayed Dylusions Squeezed Orange onto the flower but OMG it was sooooo bright. So whilst still wet I decided to use the heat gun hoping it would tone down a bit when dry. This was the laugh part everything started to burn … what idiot forgot she had used netting as part of the flower … yep it started to burn. Panic over and everything turned out OK, not only did it tone down the flower with those singed edges but it scrunched up without me having to do it.

Now all you have to do is pop on over to see all the amazing and gorgeous creations that the Design Team have made for you inspiration, check out Marina’s shop to see what you will buy if you win and last but not least leave us a little bit of yourselves so we can hop on over and leave you lots of love.

Sunday’s Fun Day Out

Showing what I made on Sunday … well it is and it isn’t, OK let’s explain a little!!
These are the papers I used for the project they are from Prima called Rondelle. We used the A4 paper pad but couldn’t get a good enough piccy. Such a pretty set and I came home with the box album all covered but nothing else … my choice because I wanted to use the new stamps I bought.

Eve was the person taking the class from Crafty Queens, link here … have to say a very talented lady. First time at one of her classes but it won’t be the last I hope.

Wish I had taken a piccy of the before and after because it looks nothing like I came home with on Sunday.
By the time I had gessoed, loads of acrylic paint, moulding paste, ripped, tore, distressed, stencilled, stamped and pulled everything around to an inch of it’s life, all those papers look nothing like the original article.

Isn’t that face just adorable, I have wanted these stamps from Tim Holtz forever but the postage when buying was always just toooo much. Anyways Kate had her shop there and I was able to get them.

Lots of flippy floppy pages inside ready for adding loads of goodies … when I get around to it … but I may just give this to Amber and let her work her magic on the inside lol.

Just Stepping Out

Vintage Stamping Challenges

Now that you all know there is a new challenge blog in town I can show you what I have created for my very first Design Team card.

The stamped images are from our very generous sponsor Flonzcrafts. I chose this Vintage Fifties style girl for my main image. Also stamped her onto shrink plastic and made a little charm hanging from the organza pink bow. Another stamp I used from leo’s store was this very Vintage Retro Car … how neat does that look.

Stamped the vine leaf on the edge of the card, it’s one from the Tapestry collection of stamps, these are very little stamps but how pretty they make that edge look.

Papers are from the Prima range called Rondelle which came with my pack of goodies which I received at the craft crop I went to yesterday. What a fabulous day out I had can’t wait to show you what I made.

As this is our very first challenge we would just love it if you popped on over to the Vintage Stamping Challenge blog and not only leave lots of love for the new Design Team girls but also to enter whatever creation you feel like making.

Spooky Times Ahead

Gaily surfing the net one day when I came across Your Paper Pantry liked the look of it and in one of my mad moments I joined. They have lots of different swaps on the go every month but the one that caught my eye was a Pocket For Your Thoughts. You make a 5″ x 7″ pocket out of sturdy stuff and then you have to fill it with at least 4 tags.

Now you can see where I’m going … it’s the tags. September’s swap was … Ooooooh Halloween … fun time for me even though not really a Halloween type of gal. What you can’t see in the pocket is the little organza sweet treat bag which is shoved behind everything … the brief was to add an adult sweet treat.

Just missed having my youngest son on the scariest day of the year, he was born 30th October.

Teach me to read things properly …
sitting admiring my work and feeling really chuffed with myself because I had finished in time to post when I went back over the gumph to find our where I had to post … YIKESyou have to make three of these for the swap … oops guess who was late posting!!! All dun and dusted now and winging their way across the pond.

No jokes about I could have delivered them myself if I had got the broomstick out of the closet.

Decorated the back of the pocket with lots of gold embossing powder around the edges before stamping these cute little images. Still got to love that cat so gorgeous!!!!

Complete Surprise Another Published Card

Wow published again but this really was a complete surprise. Irene rang me to say had I seen it … easy one to answer … no.

Why it was such a shock to me was because I made this card two years ago … 23rd October 2010 to be precise!!!!! Simply Cards & Papercraft issue 102 is where you will find this card.

See the original posting here to learn how I made it but I have also posted the pictures below. Still can’t believe that a card which I made two years ago can still be worth publishing.

If I was to make this card today I would actually only change the flowers. Except the one which I completely embossed and which looks like plastic. The rest I would probably stamp onto then add glimmer mists and scrunch up more.

The card is a double gatefold and here is what it looks like when opened.

More From The Envelope Album

Yesterday you saw the front cover of the album we made on Sunday, well today this is the first page when opened and you also get a little peak of the next page.

Used the freebie stamp which came from Craft Stamper the other month and can anyone guess where the embroidered tag came from??? The image of the girl in the middle of the second page was blended over very lightly with the DI Iced Spruce then triple embossed before being cracked but you can’t see this very well in the pics. Also added my fave ladies from the Graphics 45 A Ladies Diary … bit time consuming to cut out but well worth it … love these papers.

Hope It Doesn’t Rain

I held an all day workshop yesterday and I met some amazing crafting ladies, five were new to me and they were an absolute treasure to teach. Patricia came as well but she is already a seasoned crafter so a few things for her were repetition but it is always lovely to have her in my class. Below is the envelope album which we made and as you can see we did some painting. All the papers had an acrylic wash over them but the front of the album when finished was sprayed all over with the Memories Mists Iridescent. Wish you could see the pearl sheen which radiates from the cover it is gorgeous. The roses actually look as if they have been made from opalescent paper but it started as a matt finish.

The two stamped ladies are from Crafty Individuals but with the middle one, only her head was punched out and before putting into the bottle top I lightly embossed her with gold embossing powder. Cut out a Memory Box die with thick cardstock, triple embossed, added two different mica powders then stamped into it.

We did manage to get all the album finished and the front cover embellished but the rest of the envelope pages is homework for the girls and when I next see them it will be fun to see how each and everyone of them have decorated theirs. Will be popping back hopefully each day to let you see my decorated pages.
