Me Not Well

Wow in time to post the card which we will be making at the class today. We all find it so difficult to make a card for the men in our lives but even more difficult is to make a Get Well Soon card. So this week is exactly what we will be making.

Loved the image when I first saw the little guy with the bandage around his face so I cut him out and made him the focal point of the card. Now you can’t tell me that that isn’t the face of a male with Man Flu. Don’t you just want to kiss it … yukkkkk … not me!!

Frantage Magic

Still loving making these albums but I have an all day workshop on Sunday where you will be pleased to know I will be teaching how to make a different album this time with … envelopes.

Thank goodness I have made my class card for Saturday, just have to take the photos
Love everything about blogging even the writing but the taking of the photos now that’s a different matter!!!!

Hands up those who dislike taking photos of their work … both my hands are in the air … I craft most days and could probably post something new every day but I just dread the thought of taking those photos.

Had another play with that lovely messy and gloopy frantage … makes the most delicious things … even love just to look at the stuff in the pots, all twinkling and sparkling … how sad is that!!!! … sigh.

This time I threw lots into my melting pot … Shabby Pink, Silver Crushed Glass Glitter, Shabby White and also mixed in some red embossing powder … as you do for good measure. When melted, poured it onto my craft mat, stamped into it with the Crafty Individuals Swirly Stamp which had Brilliance Galaxy Gold ink on it then added 5 little red dew drops … 2 got covered over with the gorgeous liquid. Also did two lacy flowers and tied everything with a double taupe organza bow. The background on the cardstock has also been stamped all over with the Crafty Individuals Swirly Stamp.

Used those yummy 12 x 12 Graphic 45 papers again “A Ladies Diary” … have you noticed I only use the tiniest amounthate cutting into them. The die used for the middles is the smallest of the Spellbinders Grand Decorative Ovals One but before I stitched them onto the cardstock used the Crafty Individuals Ladies Stamps, masked off so that I could stamp a background image. Coloured the middle two ladies with DI’s but the lady on the back was stamped onto patterned paper then cut out.

Looking Puzzled

Forgot to show this weeks class card which was made with a scalloped card from Craftwork Cards, very simple to make but the colouring takes a little while.

Before the black cardstock was layered onto the card I stamped and embossed with a pretty swirl stamp. Cut part of the butterflies wing around the edge but only enough so that it covered some of the diecuts. Used Copics to colour the Sarah Kay stamped image. Embellished with micro beads and added diamond glaze to her hat plus the tablecloth in the basket.

Small Is Beautiful

Yeh know what, I have been so busy designing and creating for up-coming workshops that my poor little blog has been neglected … 😥

Managed to post my DT piece for Fashionable Stamping Challenges which is …

Good Things Come In Small Packages.

I am so in love with these little albums, the first two I made were with two 12″ x 12″ pieces of paper which gives you a 6″ x 6 “album.

This time round I started with two 6″ x 6″ papers which makes a very neat little 3″ x 3″ album. Used the Graphic 45 papers … A Ladies Diary, so beautiful and also some Stampin Up papers.

Some of the stamps are from the Peg Stamp Range which are really weeny … embossed a few with gold embossing powder. The inside stamps are from Prima Romantique Collection but the little heart stamp that she is sitting on was from a set of … See D’s Stamps (think they are discontinued because I can’t find a link anywhere).

The ribbon was died … (oops thought I would leave it in because the ribbon looks as if it has died being so grungy and dirty looking lol) … dyed with rust alcohol ink then heat set to melt and distort just a little. Used micro beads for the little girls hat and the ribbon around the waist.

Don’t miss out on all the DT’s creations they look fantabulous as per usual.

Floral With Fliss

Fliss gave us this challenge and who can resist flowers and more flowers … no one … Fashionable Stamping Challenges would love to see your flowers this fortnight.

I have made a mini album from 2 pieces of 12 x 12 paper but because I was so late taking the photos the inside ones didn’t come out so good, will have another go in daylight.

Can you see that huge white flower taking up the whole of the front … who said what flower … this was cut with the TH Tattered Florals die in vellum, stamped with versamark then embossed with white embossing powder. The little bird is a retired Stampin Up stamp and the paper was stamped all over with script.

Can I remember where I got the romantic freebie image from noooo … I just hop around and find things but usually I file everything neatly away in a folder and label where it came from but not this one. Printed onto canvas paper which gave it a gorgeous look almost like a miniature oil painting and inked edges. Downsized the image of the pretty lady, printed her also onto canvas then die cut with a postage stamp die.

The teemies have all made really delicious creations for you to get some inspiration for your projects so why not pop on over to have a look.

Double Explosion Card

I have just had two weeks of pure bliss, a very busy pure bliss but oh so enjoyable … pray tell I hear you say … wellllll …
… my Grandchildren, Son and DIL Claire have all been here to stay for their usual summer break and what a fabulous time for us all. They went home yesterday and left us with such a quiet house which will take some time to get used to again. Miss them so much already sigh….

Hence no blogging or housework … all to catch up on, not looking forward to the housework part!!!!

Whilst here it was mine & Andrew’s 30th Wedding Anniversary. Sneaky Claire and Andrew between them, booked for us all to go away for a mini break to the New Park Hotel in Kilkenny. The weekend was absolutely glorious and I do mean glorious (sun included). When the time came to pay my Son and Claire paid for it all. The memory of my 30th Anniversary is going to stay with me forever especially when I make my album to look back on as I have loads and loads of photos to bore you all with.

Amber, Claire and myself had lots of little crafting slots where we managed to have a play with lots of things and Amber has gone home buzzing with ideas for her art at school.

I only just managed to get this card made for my class yesterday a really quick one with not to much work involved.
The photo doesn’t do the inside vellum explosion justice as the vellum is gold embossed and really sparkles and shines, the photo makes it look a dirty brown

First made this type of card can you believe 1st July 2010 which you can see here and below.
This is a larger card than the one above and the inside explosion is paper not vellum.

Fave Ice Cream

Well summer finally came, for the last three days anyway but all is changing again and guess what … rain is on the way … wahoooo … I DON’T THINK!!!!

The family have another week to go of their hols, at least they got to see some sunshine and spent three days at the beach.

It’s the start of another challenge at Fashionable Stamping Challenges and this time round we would love to see all those

SUMMER ICE CREAM COLOURS

Avril chose this delicious challenge … can you guess what my fave ice cream is yum yum mmmmmm … Strawberry … just love it.

My card has been made using the Antique Frame from Spellbinders which I first embossed directly onto the card instead of cutting it out. While the frame was still on the card I blended over with TH Victorian Velvet Ink. Used the same ink to stamp the edge of card also stamped onto a plain piece of white cotton ribbon. Cut out the frame with same white cardstock then placed directly over the embossed card which gives a fabulous raised effect which you can’t really see. Stamped the lady over the VV DI ink then with a paintbrush dipped in water I coloured out some of the ink to leave lots of whiteish looking shaded areas.

You really must go and see all the beautiful creations which the FSC fashionettes have created this time round they all look good enough to eat.

My Trip Down Memory Lane

Has something happened to you recently which tripped a switch and off you went down memory lane. Well that’s what happened to me on Sunday.

The family are coming for their annual Summer holidays on Friday so this prompted the usual mad dash deep down, de cluttering in their bedrooms. I do mean de cluttering because during the course of the year I spread out my crafting goodies into them.

In amongst all the layers of treasure (hubby would call it trash) I was sorting, came upon the first thing I had ever ever stamped in my life. It was this that prompted my little hop and skip with excitement down memory lane (thought I had lost it). I can still feel the excitement of how I felt when the embossing powder melted.

Twelve years ago my mum passed away, Andrew was still in Kuwait, I was back in the UK for 3 months without him. My bestest friend ever and SIL Irene told me about this gorgeous little shop that had just started cardmaking lessons so off I toddled. Little did I know how this was going to change my life and leave my purse forever empty!!!!

Now this really is a small world, the little shop was called Wool & Things but today they have moved to North Camp and are called The Art Of Craft. Can you believe my teemie Brenda on Fashionable Stamping does classes there now … small world eh.

When I showed this to Andrew he looked at it and these are his exact words …

“So this ugly little bear started off all this, I often wondered”.

Started all this meaning … we were standing in my craft room at the time.

See what you think girls, here is a pic of the little guy is he ugly??? …. NO WAY

I would love to hear what started you off on your crafting journey and if you still have the first thing you ever made I would love to see it and hear your story.

Nahhh no way is he ugly. All I can say is how my crafting has changed and the crafting world. Today this card would be classed as C & S.

Would also love to know if anyone recognises this gorgeous little guy as the stamp sold out on the night I made it and never saw it again … awww.

Mmmm having my doubts now the more I look at him it could be a rabbit!!!!! 😯

Crackled Trinket Box

Sunday means FSC time and can you believe that we are one year old on Tuesday … another year where time just flew by and left me standing.

Had fun fun fun with this DT piece an altered wooden box, they come in a set of two, this is the smaller.

Painted with red emulsion … oh my what a lovely mess, then added the crackle glaze … very sticky fingers … not the sticky toffee ones so resisted the urge to lick. Waited until dry before adding another layer of emulsion this time white … should have seen the mess on my fingers after this layer of paint, still having fun though.

Sanded all edges and corners to distress even more … by this time even my hair looked distressed, dry, brittle and frazzled.

Stamped over with various designs to add lots of interest plus I added the little paper stamps which are from a Graphic 45 collection. Finished off with Vintage Photo DI … I was on such a high by this time even the dogs were looking good for me to paint. Guess what I did to glaze the top layer … yayyy good ole clear nail varnish … only the good stuff mind none of your cheapo rubbish.

Don’t even know if what I did to alter this box is right but it all worked for me plus it looks good so in my book that’s what counts.

If you think I had fun making this then check out all the DT’s creations they look fantabulous.
Paula’s looks an interesting piece to alter can you imagine the mess I would get in if I attempted to alter her piece. Mmmmm might just give it a go.

Saturday Morning Pictures

Can you remember, way back in the past, waking up to that feeling of excitement because it was Saturday and what did that mean … wahoooo Saturday Morning Pictures or even the flicks (never used that term … to common). 😉

OK you youngsters reading this will automatically think of photos but going to the pictures is how we referred to the Cinema!!!

I can remember it so vividly, running off to the Ritz or the Empire (on my own no being driven in a 4×4), waiting in those huge queues just to see Flash Gordon (swoon xoxoxo … my hero), Heidi, Lassie or even Bugs Bunny. Now I really sound like my Mum I am about to say … those were the days … Yipes.

Now my Saturday mornings wake up excitement is to see all the girls at my craft class … how things change!!!
Just joking girls I definitely prefer all of you to Flash Gordon. 😉

The card today is more about the colouring in with Distress Markers or Inks on watercolour paper, so I picked a really easy image with no fiddly bits. She is from the Cavendish Collection at Kanban, there are a set of six ladies and all are gorgeous but can’t seem to find them anywhere except ebay. The rest of the card is mainly showing the girls how to use two different ribbons …Satin and Chiffon, make two bows and sit them neatly on top of each other. Only a little bit of inking the edges girls, scouts honour … dib dob, stick my finger in my ear.
