Art On Her Mind

Masking, stamping and inking was definitely the fun part of this card and even I can’t believe that 2013 was the last time I dusted this little stamp off.  She’s from PaperArtsy called Dolls Plate 1.  The suitcases came from another ancient stamp set and the sentiment is a Wendy Vecchi called Art On Her Mind from Studio 490.

To get the octagonal design in the middle I used the Large Octagon dies from Spellbinders to make the masks.

Mister Fancy Pants

Irene and I facetimed each other yesterday, she had to make some last minute cards but I on the other hand got to make a funtime tag.

Whilst talking, Irene reminded me of the little pack of images that we bought whilst on holiday.  So combined Mr Dandy Robot stamps with the pics to make another grungy piece.

By the time I had finished my index finger looked a right ole mess (so much for trying to look after my nails)!!!  Enjoy folks ….

VSC Wants You To Bring On Those Spring Colours

Vintage Stamping Challenges has a challenge theme this month of ‘Bring On Those Spring Colours’.  This means you can make anything with your interpretation of Spring colours.

I went with a very muted colour scheme for my card as I am not really feeling the spring mood yet.  Which is a shame because I was the one who chose the theme for this month.  Very optimistic of me because our weather at the moment is bitterly cold with intermittent sprinklings of the fluffy white stuff.

Used a FlonzCrafts stamp which you can find here but I am not sure she should be painting outside in this weather.

To enter this month’s challenge just click Mr Linky at the bottom of the VSC web page and maybe it could be you who wins the $20 from Flonz’s store. Please visit the DT’s blogs for more inspiration and also it would be nice to leave them some love.

Perfect Just The Way I Am

My Skyping crafty partner in crime and myself both made a tag this afternoon and as usual both turned out different, (apart from the frame).  The input we both put into these sessions is inspiring.

Knew that I wanted to have a framed image on my tag and to make the frame I was going to use string.  Irene started to make her frame wherein she used matchsticks.  How cool was that so my frame was made with matchsticks as well, (thanks I).  Painted the frame with black gesso then added some gold gilding wax.  Used various other paints, stamps and stencils for the background especially my fave Stampotique image Weasel.

Adding to the Stampotique Challenge this month which has the theme of ‘Painted Background’.

Weather Forecast At FSC

Fashionable Stamping Challenges this fortnight have a theme of  “Weather Forecast” which was picked by my fabby teemie sister Claire.

I smiled when I saw this challenge and also thought OMG what am I going to do.  Then I remembered my raindrop stamps, first saw these type of stamps on Dots blog.  (Ashamed to say my set was bought can you believe nearly six months ago but never seen the light of day until now.)

The background doily is from Do-crafts which the girl was stamped directly onto.

Totally in love with the raindrops (now they are out of their packaging) which were coloured in before adding the Glossy Accents.

The larger raindrops were made by using a mask from Creative Expressions called … wait for it … Raindrops and a dimensional paste.  When dry Glossy Accents was dripped over the top.  Other stamps are from PaperArtsy here and here plus the DI Ripe Persimmon was caressed over the top.

I would love it if you hopped on over to see all the DT’s work as they are simply stunning.  Also don’t forget that the winner of this challenge has $20 to choose anything they like from Flonz’s store.

Check here to see the first post about how the file folder came about.  Ready ….. well lets get started!!!!

The whole thing when opened with lots of flippy flappy things going on.  Loads of space for photos to be added and with too many stamps and techniques used for me to mention but I am sure you will know many of them.

Onto the close ups.  First pic is the inside flap which could go either on the outside or inside, your choice.  Next is of the flap opened with a little tag that when flipped up shows off a real fabby picture of me … I know – wishful thinking!!!

File Folder Playtime

Our Skype playtime this week (Irene and myself) was making this file folder.  You will soon be able to see Irene’s makes because I am pleased to say she is going to start blogging again.

Now I have seen these folders around blogland but this is a first for me.  It was I’s choice of what to make this week and this was it.  Soooo pleased with how it turned out.  Absolutely oodles of yummy inking and stamping plus oodles more artwork on the inside.  Elastic was needed and all I had was a white with an orange zigzag pattern so what’s a girl gonna do when she’s too impatient to wait and buy more … colour with a contrasting ink, that’s what.  It didn’t look too bad in the end.

Just typical … as I am on a roll to take more pics the battery runs out!!!! grrrrrr.

Our First Skype Session

Been on at my SIL for sooooo long that I had given up that it was ever going to happen but yayyyyy it has and long may it last.  She finally got a web cam!!!!!!!

What a day my SIL Irene and I had two weeks ago.  We had our very first  ‘Crafty Skype Day’  and what a day it was.  We started at 10 in the morning and finished at 4 in the afternoon.  We didn’t want to either but we both thought that maybe we should start making the dinner for the other halves.  Below is what we made.  Well this is what I made and it won’t be long before you can see what Irene’s looks like because I am pleased to say she is going to be back blogging again soon.

So much fun was had that we are doing it each week.  You should see what we made this week it’s just gorgeous.  A bit more scruffy and distressed than the make below.

It’s just like having Irene in the room with me.  We trot off to have a coffee, then eat our lunch … maybe hang out some washing all in between our crafting.  Irene is a fabulous crafter but she lacks the confidence to use all her crafty stash and that’s just what I make her do.

Showing front and back of the album first with loads of scrummy stamping.  I used the Cinch to bind mine and Irene used the Bind-It-All plus my colours are mainly black, red and brown whereas hers are more purply, I think.  So long ago I’ve been asleep since then.

Used a couple of Tim Holtz pics for inside but changed the lady as she didn’t match the page opposite.  I whitened all of one side which turned out just right.

The flowered page is the back of a SU envelope with a SU stamped white embossed flower before colouring in with a white chalk pen also from Stampin Up.

Thought I would add a male page with the yummy new stamps from SU called Traveler.

Loads more pages but I think you have seen enough for one day.

Watch out for more projects because as I said this is a weekly Skype Craft Day.

Birds & Bees Matchbook

Fashionable Stamping Challenges this fortnight have a terrific theme of  “Birds & Bees” which was picked by our wonderful DT sister Claire.

Wanted to tell you first what card I used for the Matchbook.  I made faux leather by using Ranger Ink Refresher on craft cardstock.  Have tried the glycerine but for me personally my results are better with the Ink Refresher.

Before you see all the matchbook just wanted to show you a close up of the stamped image which is on the front.  Sorry about the reflecting light.  How fabulous does she look, all cracked weathered and worn … bit like me really.  Added a teensy little red colour to her lips for effect.

The matchbook is a Tim Holtz Movers and Shapers L Die called Matchbook Set.  For my make I used the smaller of the two.

For the inside I made a little ticket strip album which cascades down when you open the matchbook.  Added a little tissue paper bumble bee on the front which was sent to me from my fabby SIL Irene.  It came in a beautifully decorated box with lots of other crafting goodies.  Thanks ‘I’.

Placed the ticket strip on a black frame which you can’t see very well because the ticket strip is black also.  Each ticket has a stamped and gold embossed image on it plus the quote has also been stamped onto a piece of faux leather card then torn around the edges.

I would love it if you hopped on over to see all the DT’s work as they are simply stunning.  Also don’t forget that the winner of this challenge has $20 to choose anything they like from Flonz’s store.

Before I go I am leaving you with two sneak peeks of another tarmac project that crafty friend and myself started when I stayed for my sleepover.  Can’t show it all because it isn’t finished yet!!!

All I can say is … OMG I am just loving that tar … keep watching this space!!!!

If you missed my last project you can see it here where you can also find a link explaining about the tarmac technique.

Notecard Book

This little notecard book started life as a play around with no particular theme at all.  When completing the inside pages my inspiration came from the First World War.

It is the centenary of the Great War this year which started on 3rd August 1914 with Germany declaring war on France and Belgium.  The following day 4th August, the United Kingdom declared war on Germany.  I am not sure that I could even imagine what the next four years must have been like for all the men, women and children involved.  It finally ended on 11th November 1918

My dad wasn’t even born when the war started he was born the year it ended.

Anyways the image of the soldier used on the notecard reminded me of this photo of my dad in his uniform.  Actually the photo is a postcard so not sure if it is an official army photo which they printed.

At the back of the photo my mum has written “Shortest one is Arthur Raymond House (my dad), Royal Berkshire Regiment while at Brock Barracks, Oxford Road, England”.  I am so glad she wrote that as to be quite honest I would not have known it was him.  I only came across some photos like this when she passed away and lucky for me she had written on the back of a few of them.  How handsome he looks in his uniform.  I have some more photos of my dad whilst in the Korean war (or as sometimes known the “Forgotten War”) which are definitely going into an album which I will then give to my son.

NoteletNotelet2Notelet3

Printed off the image of the soldier on cardstock then framed his face.  Also printed off the image of the relaxing gentleman then painted his coat with the deep red gilding wax.  Also coloured the ladies face with it as well.
