Cornflour And Chalk Paint

Saw Ally on Create & Craft make her own crackle paste with cornflour (cooking type) and chalk paint so I decided to have a go myself.  The results are actually very good.

The crackle background on this wall hanging was made this way and the image was stamped when it had dried.  With this method you really have to let it dry naturally and resist using the heat gun on it.  Will definitely be using this method again as it is quick and very cheap … which suits me.

Shabby Chic At VSC

Last October the family came for a week’s holiday and whilst here my son re-vamped my craft room but I have never gotten around to taking pics of what he did.  Love him to bits as my craft room is so much nicer to work in.

My Vintage Stamping Challenges DT make is sitting on my desk but you have to look really hard to see it.  Since having the room re-vamped I have been making lots of storage bits to house some of my crafting stash.  Behind the shabby chic box you will see a rather long handmade box which is where I keep my hands on tools (glues, rulers, scissors etc) and on the window sill are two of my up-cycled toilet roll holders.

Moving in for a closer pic …

Now zooming in a bit more …

The theme this month is ‘Shabby Chic’ chosen by Karen and I am sure we are going to see some lovely shabby makes from everyone.

A friend of mine, Caroline, had a crafty day in September 2014 at her house where I started altering my G45 tag box but have only just finished it.

Definitely not that good at remembering dates but this was easy because whilst there we exchanged tags with each other and a lovely lady called Rose exchanged her tag with mine and she signed it for me.  The craft tags came with the G45 box so I made another which matches the front of the box and used a Flonz stamp.

A few more pics of the room and you will probably be able to spot some other items I have altered or am in the process of changing.  The white glass mats are from Ikea and they are fabulous.  You can use paint, inks, just about any medium on them and they just wipe clean with a damp cloth, cool eh ???  Also the drawers underneath are from Ikea and they store all my wooden stamps, papers and so many other craft items.

Another MDF item I bought from Ally Crafts which now houses some of my paints.

Things With Wings

Fashionable Stamping Challenges this fortnight has a theme of  ‘Things With Wings’    My lovely teamie sister Avril chose this very popular theme.

Another storage box for my craft room, this one is going to house some of my stamps, actually the Crafty Individuals ones fit it perfectly.

Bought an MDF storage kit from Stamps Away at Ally Pally it came in a pack of four very very cheap.  I have made them all up and painted each with black gesso but this is the first I have finished completely.

Box 1

Embossed some cardstock which I used to cover the inside and painted with black gesso before adding some White Fire Treasured Gold gilding wax.  Also added the same to the edges.

Stamps used are from Flonz Crafts, Stampers Anonymous and Artistic Outpost.

BoxBox 2

I would love it if you hopped on over to see all the DT’s work as they are simply stunning.  Also don’t forget that the winner of this challenge has $20 to choose anything they like from Flonz’s store.

Visible Image Stamps

Bought some gorgeous new stamps at Ally Pally from a company called Visible Image.  I was a bit disappointed that they are acrylic stamps as I tend to go more for the rubber nowadays but having said that they stamp really well.

On this card I used the single horse, Fleur-de-lys and the script from the Revolution set with loads of inking.  Did the water stamping technique on the horse and also white embossed him as well.

Brilliant Card And Pen Holders From Philomena

Just had to show this card which Philomena sent to me in an e-mail.  She made this card here in my class last week then went home and made the one below, cool eh!!!

If you look behind at the two pots on which she is resting the card the one on the right of the pic is what she made in the class here and then she made another which you can see on the left.  Another cool eh!!!  Well done Phil x x

Crackled Paper Petals

Playing with string and flowers again which is such an easy way to use up all those mulberry paper flowers that we all have in our stash.  Added more dimension to the card this time by using crackle paste on the petals.  It made the card more interesting also when I added some other images and a die cut as well.

FSC Crosses Over Once Again With My Saturday Class

Way behind with everything, that’s what happens when you sneak off for the week to go to Ally Pally in London.  Had a fabulous time and bought oodles of crafting goodies and even found time to have a crafting day with Irene.  Will be hopping around to you all sometime today to see everything I have missed.

Fashionable Stamping Challenges this fortnight have a theme of  “Lovers” … this could be first love, bridal pairs, animal pairs, anything that is lovey dovey.   My lovely teamie sister Dani chose this very romantic theme,

Cheating again because this is another class card that I have been able to use as my FSC piece.  Below are all the crafty bits that I started with to make the card.  The girls were a bit hesitant when they first saw everything because they couldn’t see how this could turn into the card below.  Especially with those brightly coloured flowers and lace.  Two items are missing from the pic – the gesso and gilding wax.

1

Well this is the finished card which looks nothing like the items above.

The blue card was made as a sample for the girls to look at and the green one below is the card which I was making for the girls to follow.  I actually changed the layout a little.

7

In between the gesso, paint and molding paste drying we made a very clean and simple card using the new Stampin Up bow maker punch.

I am so in love with this new punch and the little bows it makes are just divine.  I have the Tim Holtz bow maker die but find the bows a bit large for card projects.

VSC Goes All Flowery

Vintage Stamping Challenges has a challenge theme this month of ‘Handmade Flowers’.  Irene chose this popular theme and I am sure we are going to see some lovely makes with handmade flowers.

When I saw the challenge theme I just knew that I only wanted one flower to be the focal point on my card and I think you will agree that it definitely is.

Used two stamps from Flonz’s range of beautiful stamps which you can find here and here, one stamped on card and the other a book page.

I really hope that you can join us for this month’s challenge.  To enter just click Mr Linky at the bottom of the VSC web page and maybe it could be you who wins the $20 from Flonz’s store.

FSC And Jumbo Toilet Roll Storage For Lauren

Fashionable Stamping Challenges this fortnight have a theme of  “Sew What” (all about the sewing) which was picked by the lovely Claire.

‘OMG’ I am so ashamed to say that I am addicted to jumbo toilet roll holders, see my first post here.  Well it’s just my latest fad really, recycling them into receptacles for anything you like.

I am using mine at the moment for storage of utensils on my desk (don’t even ask how many I have got on the desk.  Just waiting to take a photo of the one I made for Andrew’s desk at work.  With a little imagination you can turn them into beautiful plant pot holders.  Remember to line with a little plastic bag or place the plant pot into a plastic bag so that you can add water.  The diameter of these jumbo rolls are 3¼ inches across and the depth is 3½ inches.

Both my granddaughters have taken after me with their crafty ways.  Amber is the artist in the family she loves anything to do with paints and Lauren is the sewer.  I used to sew for England once upon a time.  Clothes, curtains, cushions, quilts anything that was to do with material was my thing.

I have made this storage holder for Lauren so she can store all her little bits and bobs.  The adorable girly stamp you can find here from Flonz’s store and the little scissor stamp is an Indigo Blu here.  The dress form stamp is from Stampin Up.

I am not sure she will like this as anything vintage, aged and distressed is not her thing but if not then Mummy will probably find a use for it.

I would love it if you hopped on over to see all the DT’s work as they are simply stunning.  Also don’t forget that the winner of this challenge has $20 to choose anything they like from Flonz’s store.

Mixed Media Class

Seems ages since I have shown any class projects but today we are into the realm of mixed media again.  The girls are still a little out of their comfort zone when it comes to layering up their inks, paints, stencils, different molding pastes and gesso so the class was all about these items.

One layer cards look amazing … so much to see … so I showed them what mediums to start with for the base then we worked out from there to the beautiful Lotus Blossom stamp from Stampin Up.  Below is the finished card.

This is the card I made whilst showing them how to layer up but I used different colours and stamp.
